    Best video on how to remove these carbs. Removing and installing the carbs on my 2005 is the part that I always dread. I spent a good hour today removing the carbs and by the time I got them out, I was frothing at the mouth, lol. Putting them back on is even harder. I knew someone out there was smart enough to figure out a better way and you nailed it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    It's refreshing to see what maturity brings to DIY videos. Loved that didn't string on with senseless video, immature comments or foul language that should have been edited out. Excellent.

    You sir, are a motorcycle angel. I have a 1995 Ninja 250 that needs some work, including a carb cleaning. I have the Clymer manual, but this is my first bike and I still have a lot to learn. Thank you for a clear and concise video!! 🏍

      livetobemario The Ninja 250 is a great bike and I think you'll love it. When you do your carbs, watch for the needle seats as they tend to fall out and get lost. They look like small metal tubes. I mention it because I've seen several comments elsewhere where the guy cleaned the carbs and then then bike wouldn't run anymore. The reason is because he lost those seats. I've seen several cleaning videos here and not many people talk about those. Keep an eye on them and you wont have any problems.

      Thanks for that information! I'm so glad you mentioned that, I would defiantly keep an eye out for that. I'm really excited to ride hopefully by next week the Ninja 250R, thanks again you are awesome!

    I used to remove both of the throttle cables from the bracket, rather than the bracket from the carb. It was always a hassle to "sync" the pulley system during re-installation. Thanks a bunch haha

    Thank you for your time and effort with this video. Iv recently purchased my first bike an '05 ninja 250 and it dies on throttle; so from my understanding its that the carbs are fouled out... And every other video that iv seen the bikes have been modified , or their process was partially explained in a vague way... Once again thank you!

    Awesome tutorial, I purchased an 05 Ninja 250 about a week ago and had to clean the carbs, air filter, and replace the spark plugs. After putting it all back together, I'm a little confused on one hose. I'm not sure if it's just an overflow hose or what, you can see it at 6:20 in the video when you're pulling the carbs out. It's the yellowish long one that goes toward the back of the bike. Can you please explain if this has to be plugged into anything?

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  9 лет назад

      Scorp16 Its an air vent hose. It doesn't connect to anything except the carbs.
      If you think you might like to build a luggage rack for your new bike, check out my other videos. Having a trunk makes it a whole lot easier to carry stuff.

      The air port hose is shown in the last minute of the video. You can see how it is routed. There are no drain hoses.

    This video is great! I couldn't get the the two by the rear wheel, i need another extension for the socket. One of my hoses, the blue, that comes from the gas tank had a hole close to the tip so i cut and put it on but i'm going to order new hoses anyways. Wondering what solvents/spray cleaners you use to clean the carb? Thanks for this video!!

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  8 лет назад

      You can sometimes get the rear bolts with a short handled 1/4" socket wrench.
      I use regular carb cleaner spray. Just be sure not to get any on the diaphragm or I'm told it will eat holes in it and ruin it. Some people use just plain old compressed air for that very reason.
      When replacing gas tubing, use 1/4" SAE 30R9. It is alcohol resistant and works better with modern fuels. You can also use 5/16" tubing if you think 1/4" is too small, but you will need to use EFI clamps or else it will leak.

    • @BayArea.R6
      @BayArea.R6 8 лет назад

      Thanks for the heads up. Are all 3 lines coming from the gas tank the same width in diameter? Should I use 5/16 tubing for any of them?

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  8 лет назад

      Sounds like you may have a california bike. They have 2 or 3 tubes coming from the rear of the tank. These are for pollution control and 1/4" lawnmower fuel hose will work fine for these. The actual fuel line comes out under the petcock. Its the larger hose. The smaller hose is a vacuum line and needs a stiffer vacuum hose. The only one that can be 5/16" is the larger hose under the petcock and it will need EFI clamps to hold it on. Remember, that one needs to be SAE 30R9 whatever size you get. It is sometimes sold as "EFI line", but you'll see 30R9 printed on the side of the hose.

    What tools did you use to take the bottom bolts on the rear fender out? I have been trying for a while and they're a pain to get out - Im even More worried about how I'm getting them back in.

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  4 года назад

      Socket and fingers. I think I also used a long socket extension. A lot of people make the battery box modification so that these bolts aren't necessary to be removed.

    What do the fender bolts secure?

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  8 лет назад

      The front part of the rear fender. The rear fender assembly has to move backwards to get the carbs free.

  • @Foodgirl61

    5:20 . This screw has been stripped and is in there really tight. Tried vice grip pliers and everything to remove it but it wont budge. Any ideas?

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  6 лет назад

      You can remove the cables independently, but you'll have to re-adjust them to install it back. Once you get the carb off the bike its easier to work on the screw.
      Once you have disassembled the carb for cleaning, and no gas is around, you can use a dremmel grind a slot across the screw head and then use a flat head screwdriver to get it out. Either that or grind two parallel sides and use a crescent wrench on it. Just know that sparks from the dremmel grinder can ignite gasoline and also carb cleaning fluid so it needs to be dry when you are working on it.
      However, an even simpler way is to locate a better quality #2 Philips screwdriver. Sometimes older ones get worn to where they wont grip right. The screw is supposed to be a grade 8 bolt which should be pretty hard to strip. Could someone before you have replaced it with the wrong bolt?

    • @Foodgirl61
      @Foodgirl61 6 лет назад

      n4mwd looks like i'll have to do it the hard way and remove the cables independently. Have you got a video on how to do that? I read about the dremmel technique yesterday and was hoping i could do it with the screw still in there. Don't want to risk igniting anything though. Yes I am the third owner I believe so it is likely that the screw has been replaced before.

    • @n4mwd
      @n4mwd  6 лет назад

      I think there are some other videos (not any of mine) about removing the Ninja 250 carbs that say to remove the cables instead of the screw. Its a lot harder that way, but if the screw is stuck then you have no choice.

    • @Foodgirl61
      @Foodgirl61 6 лет назад
