    I'm leaning towards the cooper myself. As an aircraft mechanic I was pretty excited about the toggle switches, but unfortunately those switches don't hold in place or click like they would in an aircraft.
    They feel more like regular buttons than switches, but aesthetically still cool nonetheless.

    Also, the B&O system in the Fiesta has much better bass control reaching lower frequencies than the Mini, I've had one with B&O and my partner's Mini has H/K.
    The only downside with the Fiesta is that it creates rattles in the front doors, the Mini doesn't have that problem because there isn't any bass coming from the doors.

    The Mini would win against the fiesta in performance as people who have Dyno run their Mini Cooper s has around 200-210 bhp on average. Not sure why mini give such a low official figure and when remapped it can produce up to 280-300bhp from the BMW B48 engine.

But the Mk8 Fiesta ST always produces around 205 hp from Factory and they also have a good tuning potential. The ST is absolutely on another level for feedback, engagement, fun, involvement basically anything you can mention. Although in the 290s defence the DSG is the most boring and mundane item ever installed into a hot hatch. Also the B&O in the ST is absolutely fantastic if you set it up correctly. I own a fiesta non ST, so you may think I’m a bit biased, but I would not take a mini if you gave me one.
    The fiesta chassis in the dry with the sticky tyres I have put on is just a point and shoot machine. The only time it’s nervous and really moves around is on snow, or frosty roads.
    Even with the BMW’s sporty mini’s reputation, the fiesta will just outperform it, clear winner to me

    • @HlspwnsWorld
      @HlspwnsWorld 3 года назад +2

      @@bunkaaa8726 The fiesta ST has quite a hard ride, it’s more taught, it’s more direct. It’s very focused in directional changes and feels light. It musters up speed and it feels like it never looses it.The power can easily override the front wheels and it can feel very aggressive and a bit unnerving when driven very hard. But even when it’s scrabbling for grip, it’s all very predictable and precise. It’s a car that you remember, when you get out of it, and you have a smile on your face.
      The mini for me was the exact opposite. It felt bland and unimpressive. Yes it made progress, it cornered quickly and was sure footed. But the word lumpy just comes to mind. It’s like the mini was designed for the average person, then someone decided we need to add a bit of performance. The power delivery is flat, and it just revs out. When your throw it around, you get the impression it does not want to do that. If fact it’s on the same level of disappointment of the power and acceleration of the modern GT-86.

Mini's cost more because they use better quality finishes, the ST is the top of the range performance verision if you want to do a comparison with a mini you would need to compare it with the JCW sports at a shade over £25000 its a lot more car than the fiesta ST and only costs £1,900 more.

    Engine wise you are not analyzing the most important part of a hot hatch, customization/upgradability/potential.
    By that I mean that 2L engine will last longer and has higher threshold of max hp remap while 1.5L from ford is certainly dealing with higher turbo pressure and has lower tuning potential, while also consuming more fuel due to it's low torque compared to bigger engine. Therefore mini's engine is a much more safe and interesting option for entusiasts and has higher potential longevity.

    • @BOTBreviews

How much the parts will deteorate under max load. Example: what will it take for engine to overheat, brakes to fade, clutch to slip, turbo to spit oil. Trust me, under load even oem car can be taken to it's limit in less than 24H. Reason why even most supercars auto transmission allow not more than 2-5 launches in a row.

      I always regretted buying a car that did not drive to my 'standards'. The looks and interior... after two weeks it's like you owned it for years. The way it drives brings the smile on your face, or makes you feel you want to leave behind the car at the nearest gas station. Beauty without real character?
      I'm not saying there's anything wrong with these 2 cars, but in case of comparing drivers cars, you start with... driving.
