    My 13 year old Corolla's headlamp lens oxidation was terrible. I used a liquid cleanser named Simply Soft and I was done in less than 5 minutes. It cost me less than $3, and it looked great. All it takes is a small drop on a wet cloth.

    Great tutorial/instructions. I'm going to try this method on my headlight covers. I've tried multiple things, some didn't do anything, a couple cleared up then within 4 - 5 days, they looked the same as when I started. I hope this works as well for me.

    A foam polishing ball on a cordless drill using mothers mag and aluminum polish is a much faster, simpler, safer, better result. No masking required, it won't hurt the paint, no multiple sanding drudgery. No lie, it really works, you can even de oxidize dull bug shields if you still have one. I didn't believe it till I did it. A quick coat of 303 aerospace protectant afterwards, boom goes the dynamite.

    you don't need to take all these steps to get a great results. 600 grit, 3000grit, clear coat spray can and that's so you need. same results.

    • @Eltamarindo92
      @Eltamarindo92 5 лет назад +1

      Lmao i seriously can not understand why people go from 600 to 3000...smh

  • @TheDim3s
    @TheDim3s 7 лет назад +5

    He should continue with 2000-2500 grit after the 1500, you can see the polish didnt really take out all the fine scratches left behind with 1500 grit.
    Also for all those "DIY" vinegar, toothpaste etc bullshit, if it worked, the oxidation wasn't that bad, they were most likely just dirty as hell.
    To remove the heavy oxidation you need to sand off the UV coat which oxidized, don't do so, and you will be looking at oxidized headlights real soon again.

    It doesn't have to be this complicated. Just use Meguiars 2 Step Perfect Clarity. Bought some for $28 total at Canadian Tire yesterday and my head lanterns look like new again.

    Clear Bra your headlights when new to avoid the problem in the first place.
    I did this five years ago on my new car and they still look brand new.

    Make a video with really oxidized headlights to truly show how them products really work. Them headlights are gonna look really good because they were not really bad to begin with.

  • @Jessejamesrg4l

    man those nasty scratches in the lens he didnt sand long enough i would of went 400-3000 then full compound and polish

  • @jjack6896
    @jjack6896 6 лет назад

    I put 15 coats of the shine restorer on mine and it looked crappy in 3 months. The real truth is it doesn't take brain surgery to restore the light but it takes a brand new headlamp to keep it that way. Now humor me as to how long it will last under normal auto usage.

    is the process the same with glass or plastic ?

    • @DetailKing
      @DetailKing  8 лет назад

      This is for plastic, can't really sand glass.

    sir I need to learn how to restore the headlights internally

  • @reddyuda
    @reddyuda 7 лет назад +3

    People saying "Oh this is an expensive method compared to the cheap kit or a new headlight" are idiots. My parent's 2008 Mercedes CLS headlights run around $700 each.
    I will agree that sanding the clearcoat off the headlight and then going straight to polishing is foolish. At the very least spray some duplicolor over-the-counter clearcoat on it to prevent the plastic from oxidizing quicker without any clearcoat.

    • @goclunker
      @goclunker 7 лет назад +3

      reddyuda never spray over the counter clearcoat on lights. If you buff without UV treatment, it will last for years, 4+ before needing a rebuff, unlike clearcoat which is also a pain to sand out again. Buff and uv treat, thats the proper way to do it. Then, don't take your car to commercial washes that use heavy solvents that oxidize plastics

  • @goclunker
    @goclunker 7 лет назад +1

    Finally someone with some knowledge. You BUFF them clear, not clearcoat. Its fun removing shitty paint clearcoat that some idiot applied to lights, and it peeled right off... shocking. Not

    For all the supplies and tools he used you can just buy brand new headlights on Amazon. There are many ways to accomplish this task but this method seems way to complicated and expensive.

  • @jerlaine1638

    not bad but i pull them out and clamp them down with a table vice and rags to do it, then give them a quick coat of clear coat
