    Courtney lives in my pain cave and cheers me on when my runs get hard! I did my first 10k a couple days ago and found myself yelling “what would Courtney do! You’re fine! Keep going!” lol

      She's incredible. I don't run, but I'm complete awe of her and she's so humble.

      I'll second that! Tough run this morning, but I could almost feel Courtney holding my hand in the "pain-cave" as she smiled her outrageously beautiful smile at me.

    Every man...EVERY man I know is suffering...and while all of society is giving women a hug, especially all women for other women, there exists almost zero support for men.

    Courtney is inspiring. I wonder who the "we" are that she referred to ? She referred to "we" again in a recent interview having won the Western States.

      Courtney and her crew, it takes a village to do what she does.

    • @brianonuanain7535
      @brianonuanain7535 Год назад

      I did think of that, but somehow it doesn't square with: "We get to celebrate and make the pain-cave bigger". Crew are physically absent for over 99.9% of the course.
      She's extremely appreciative of her crew, ( we all love her for this too) but it seems reasonable to suggest that realistically, she must do the overwhelming majority of the effort required to do what she does.

      @@brianonuanain7535 Not sure if this is part of why or not for Courtney, but during long runs often different parts of the body seem like separate parts of the same team? Like how are my legs? how are my feet? How's my breathing? What is my stomach doing? where it's possible to think of the different body parts/systems as a team? That could be it as well.

      I think that referring to oneself as 'we' is quite popular now, I really like it as it acknowledges the different facets in oneself.. The strong me /the weak me /all of me... I don't know if this is how Courtney means it but this is my understanding x

    Ulta running is still a fairly new sport, with few professionals with undefined boundaries compared to other sports. Should a race be 50k / 100k / 200k? Few people want to run that far or spend that amount of time (staying awake for 1 or 2 days is not fun. It's also not a good spectator sport. She is an incredible runner, however some of the truth as to why she is so far ahead is in the reasons above.

    I'm still of the opinion, if we knew what really drives top athletes, we would lose all respect for them. 10 years from now, they will be all but forgotten anyways.

      Courtney will still be setting age group records at least!! (At 61, Meghan "The Queen" Canfield beat all the women age 40 and up in the Western States 100-mile run.)
