Greetings from Sydney and thanks for sharing Ryan … I only found your video after buying Topaz Video Ai 4 to refine and enhance high bitrate DCi 4K 59.98fps from my 1DX2 and EF 100-400L filmed from a canoe. Your use case in this video is similar to mine and your explanations are the most helpful I have found. Liked & subscribed. Love your work.
Hey Ryan, great video - I use the Canon C70 & I love its softness on human faces, however I mainly film wildlife which I want a bit sharper to capture the detail. I’ve just used the trial software on a curlew clip & it’s removed the noise but the sharpness on the subject is amazing! On the strength of this I’ve purchased a copy using your discount code. Thanks!
Can you run this as a plug-in in resolve? I’ve used a lot of topaz stuff and it definitely does a great job, but I’m wondering how this fits workflow? If you shoot a ton of footage and need to go cut, do you have to then export all of those clips, treat them and bring them back in?
hey can you do a video, comparing this please, 4k 30p to 60p vs 1080p 60p upcale to 4k, which one looks better, pleaseeee i need this big favor, i need to buy a lens wider for my real estate videos but is i can just use 4k 30 or 1080 on my sony a7v with this software will be amazing , again thanks so muchhhhh
As much as I wanted it to work since I have some old VHS tapes to upscale, the curlew enhancement looked pretty negligible to my eyes but the mink was a bit better. Have to wonder if just using a sharpening filter would do the same?
That's crazy to me!!! Wow: this is a totally game changer at least for me and my old gear! Now I could have every video in 4k... Do you think a MacBook pro 13 M1 could work with it? Thank you
Yeah, it's pretty remarkable what it's capable of when turning 1080p into 4K. Honestly, the best way to find out if your computer will handle it is to just get the free trial because it's the full program. Now I mainly use the Mac Studio, but I have the M1 MacBook Air and what I found was that it starts the render off pretty fast but because that computer doesn't have any fans it heats up and throttles the rendering speed after a while and then it's slow. With your MacBook Pro with the fans it will probably fare better but just try it out and keep expectations reasonable.
@@RyanMenseWildlife thank you for the answer 😎 I'll absolutely download the software and I'll try it! It seems incredible! Also, great video as usual 😁
I can see it go both ways depending on the video input. If there’s fast movement, it can sometimes be difficult to get good results slowing down video, since it needs to create frames between existing frames, and the fast movement can be confusing. On the other hand, unless shooting with a higher end cinema camera, 240fps modes have a big dip in image quality. So you’re starting from something that’s lower quality and then upscaling it to 4k. But at least you’ll have all the frames you need in the original.
Thanks for the video. You mentioned the speed of processing, and I wanted to comment on this. I have a super powerful Mac Studio Ultra, and the processing time is very slow. For a 5 minute clip, and performing any of the Ai functions, it takes 3 to 4 hours for just a 5 Minute 4K clip. Have you gotten the same slow processing results? If not, is there anything I should change in the settings that might help?
Topaz uses the Neural cores, not the GPU on the M1 Ultra. Even the top config only has 32 neural cores, which is much slower for Topaz. The fastest option is a Windows PC with a dedicated GPU, or waiting the the next generation of Apple Silicon with more neural cores.
Can you also use this software to simply increase the FPS of a video meaning interpolate but still keep it at the same speed, just to make it seem smoother?
i have one issue plz anyone help me' my topaz can enhace any video except an 1280 x 720 p resolution to 4k. why this so... it can enhace any resoolution to 4k.. even 1280 x720 to any resolutino smaller or larger but not 4k ..why ???
If you upscaled a video to 4k could you upload it to TikTok or Instagram and the quality would look as good as it does on the computer? I saw some clips on TikTok that looks absolutely insane using this software
@@RyanMenseWildlife so do you upload a vertical format to topaz and then upscale to 4k or 8K? I’m using the free trial right now so I don’t have model parameters do I need to buy the software to get the maximum effect out of this?
@@jrobb1788 Are you choosing a percentage under Output Size? If you choose something labeled SD, HD, 4K or 8K it will want to crop for a standard aspect, so you need to use the percentages to keep it vertical.

Is there any drawbacks at all to 24fps to 60fps? Or should I shoot 1080/60 and upscale to 4K?

What do you think gets better results? Upscaling HD 240fps or Slowing down 4k120, say?

whenever it's done rendering some frames are black. why is that and how do i fix it?
Sorry to hear that. I haven't experienced it before myself.
In the "output size" I recommend that you modify the dimensions.
Remaining time: "Never" for 8k 240fps with an old video card.

Yeah if I post to social media in a vertical format I almost always run it through this first for increased clarity.
