    According to Dr. David Brownstein, the purpose of a 24 hour urinary iodine loading test is to measure deficiency/body’s demand for iodine (e.g. for detox) by measuring how much the body flushes as opposed to how much it retains. You take a 50 mg loading dose of iodine and then measure the urine levels 24 hours later. If you’ve excreted very little of that 50 mg, then you’re likely deficient (the body is “soaking up” the iodine you gave it). Brownstein stopped testing his patients for a different reason - after many years of finding over 97% of his patients deficient, he just assumes that if you have symptoms, you need iodine, and he asks the patients how they feel after starting supplementation. See his videos on RUclips.

    I started at 2.5 mg Lugols daily and built up to 15mg (1500mcg) over two weeks. No detox affect. Risks are if you have a sick thyroid. If you have a node on the thyroid that is autonomous could be an issue. If you have hashimotos it is a result of low iodine and usually selenium and other nutrients. The push to be afraid of iodine is the same fear that was tried for decades for D3.

    So I started taking roughly 2,000 mcg per day - I felt incredible for the first 3-5 days. Boundless energy, vanished anxiety/depression. I had to workout numerous times just to calm down, I felt so good!
    After the first few days, I went into what I’ve known as detox symptoms - headaches, ringing ears, weakness, fatigue, anxiety.
    I’m on two weeks and I still feel “off”. Am I possibly taking too much or do I just power through?

      @@wildKrafter thank you for sharing. I’m feeling better day by day though I think for the sake of my sanity and business I’ll take a break.
      I was mostly blown away at how good I felt. Kinda sad it’s gone lol. I hadn’t had that energy in years, mental clarity, peace of mind. It was as if I gave my body something it was deprived of for decades! The battery just went full charge and boom, all of the systems Iodine > TH are responsible for began working and the floodgates opened.
      I do wonder though if we have some sort of a halogen accumulation at a high concentration that is being moved. Powering though is a sexy thought as I just want to feel that again though maybe I’ll take a break for a few weeks just to see what happens.
      When did you start feeling better after you had ceased iodine dosing?
      Thanks again!

    How can the supposed "other halogen" (bromine for example) detox be felt so clearly, knowing that a human being probably has about 250mg bromine in his body, 2.6g fluorine, 95g chlorine (weighed elements)? A few mg of iodine can't impact the others a lot, can it?

    • @chrismasterjohn
      @chrismasterjohn  Год назад +3

      You probably can assume a cap of 1:1 displacement, which actually by your figures makes complete sense, since milligram amounts could be removed each day. As far as the detox reaction, the relevant metric is the change in circulating concentrations, not the percent removed from the body. If the circulating bioactive fraction is zero, then microgram quantities could make an effect be felt.
