It's crazy how often you find yourself having to shave something down/make an odd custom spacer once you have a lathe. Makes you wonder how you ever lived without it.
well known thing with the bolts being wrong in aus jzx community, just use the 86/brz bolts from the car you got the diff from at the wrecker and bam bolts in no turning down required 🙃🙃🙃
My name suggestion for the car is "Cataract".... Those headlights look like the ones on my Mk1 TT.. 400grit to 600grit, a lick of good 2k clear coat... BAM!!! Looks fn mint!
7:50 actually needed to hear that. My diff has been leaking pretty badly ever since doing an quick axle swap at the track at night. I bet we missed that little spring not being seating correctly before installing the new axle. Thanks!
Found it interesting you dropped the rear of the subframe to access the 3 rear diff bolts, I was able to get them off doing the same job to my Crown in the driveway with a spanner and a bit set. Also for anyone playing along at home planning to do this swap, get the front diff bilts from the 86/BRZ, saves the headache of the Crown ones not fitting the new diff.
Lmao l, Alan, when you put the turbo air-water system in my 86 people kept telling me I would kill the diff, the gearbox and the clutch - 7 years later all these stock items are still going strong ! (Will replace the clutch at the major service interval though).
Brad needs to get his hands on some headlight restorer. Not sure why almost al Toyota end up with milky headlights. I've had the best results with the Turtle Headlight Kit
Would be interesting to see what that 1G-GZE in Woody’s wagon would do with a lil TurboYoda magic, add a turbo to make it twin charged or something crazy like that lol
The OEMs have trouble selling wagons in some markets. This is a prime example of what should be offered. 570 plus hp and decent gas mileage if one can keep their foot out of it. The US had the Magnum and the Cadillac CTS sport. The Magnum was nice and roomy. Yet the front had a face only a Mother could love. The CTS Sport was smaller and not as utilitarian. Both suffered from poor gas mileage. OEMs take a long look at this car.
If Woody's Crown has a full chassis then the 4jj1 with matching gearbox and transfer case from a D-Max could be interesting along with a pair of of solid axles out of a suitable 4WD could be very interesting. Then he can get rid of that Pajero. 🙂
Didn't realize that was woody working the slide hammer at the end, thought it was some new Grey bush helping out off in the shadows. Awesome content as always, hammer sound effects never get old. 👌
Torsen certainly seems like the better type of diff over clutch style LSD. I wonder how different it's lock up is compared to other types of LSD? I believe clutch types can be tuned to come into effect more aggressively if required but I'm still learning yet the constant gear mesh of the Torsen just seems like a more robust and linear LSD than others.
It depends on your driving style really. If you love popping the clutch and smashing tyres a clutch type is the way to go. If you want a more progressive engagement for circuit work a torsen would be a better option.
I drove a 2022 hilux with all the bells and whistles a fair while I also drive the replacement car for the next vehicle, a 2009 Rav4 VR6 A 2005 crown majesta is still the most modern car I've ever driven, and it was my mum's daily
great stuff guys love the show the Crown (The Jewel ) woodys crown gotta have a toyota in it maybe something really different a 3.0 turbo diesel get the soot soot happening with the whistle
Woody needs an old-school 308. I've got one here if he wants it. I need my instrument cluster fixed and a half-metre length of flexible 51mm inner fuel tank filler hose for my old Courier ute. But he'll have to pull the 308 out of my bus.

this. this is good.
Good name for a locked diff, all that whining 🫣😬🤣

You win the comment section today good sir!
A whole episode on diffs would be well received.
"a whole episode on diffs would likely get some traction" FTFY
Yep would love to see a full diff install...how to shim / measure gear contact properly etc.
Check out motoiq, old mate goes through a few types of diffs

With the front cradle bolts, if you use the 86/BRZ bolts they will fit and you won't need to lathe the bolts.

needs a wheezy air mattress pump sound for the trans jack too. 😁
I’d just like to commend the Skid Factory for having the shortest title sequence on RUclips! Thank you!!

The squeaky hammer always makes me chuckle.

Why do I find the squeaky hammer so funny everytime 😂

Enjoyed the video, as well as the podcast. Thanks for sharing your experience, and demonstrating once again that success takes hard work and hustle.

Love how the vid of the exhaust shows the screamer plumbed back but that skid you hear the gate cracking open
Tomorrow is Australia Day so I assume Woody is going to put a 253 in the wagon. Nice.
With Haltech and turbo 😂
@@Doc_in_the_carpet_truck I would pay so much money to see that :D

OM606, OM648, or M57 in Woody's wagon, straight 6 diesel power.

That one roasted off tyre on the right rear 😅 Must be a big fat single line somewhere 🤣
K24 swap for woody's crown! Altho I suspect they will Barra swap it. That Crown is awesome.
We can K24 swap it and call it the Gelding.
That exhaust manifold is brilliant for a casted manifold.
Great bit of work guys. And I have a new word - chooch - which is Italian slang for a guy like Al.
