Hard to Kill? nobody told them on the gold coast motorway that they were hard to kill. The Only road kill you'd never want to cook and eat. The AU has the same beaky look like the bin chook though.
Cant spell beautiful without AU 😍 AU falcon isn't a meme for nothing. I daily an Au manual v8 and I'll never let it go, I legit like driving it more than my fg GTP. Granted its not a rocket but there's something about it that no other car I've had has come close to
@@SassyXR6007 Still regret selling my XR6 au manual. Could do anything in that car, half a tonne of carpet tiles in the boot, no worries. Friend with a 3/4s full cargo hiace that he needs to return to the rental place? No worries mate it'll fit in the falcon and it'll look good doing it. Last of the cable throttle falcons, the throttle response was *instant* and all the torque down low meant it was there when you wanted it. The manual box helped a lot I think.
It's your call, but since you asked for advice while installing the belts: I would say please wear a HANS if you are wearing a harness. 3 point belts and airbags prevent neck-snapping impacts by allowing your body to move with your head. With your whole body locked in place, a HANS is a really important safety feature.
Crash safety is a multi-part system. In a standard street car the system is crumple zones + belts that allow torso movement + airbags. While race equipment is safer for the higher speeds, it's only safer if it accounts for every part of the system: - Harnesses keep your body in place much better - But now your head will put strain on your neck = HANS becomes important - The harness also keeps you from folding at the waist, so in a rollover if the roof collapses you have less head safety as well = roll cage. For a limited subset of events and circumstances you can get away with piecemeal, but these mods aren't too difficult or expensive, and are probably good content for the channel! Cheers from an amateur track rat in Portland, OR

A tip on the shoulder belts, couldn't really see in the vid, I like to cross them over behind the seat so they can't slip down and off your shoulders. Looks like an ex-cab. As a former taxi driver, I have done thousands of miles in cars like this. Look for holes in the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel where they used to screw down the radio which was a huge metal box in the early 2000's.
Many years ago my brother was at an auction and there was a quite new, very clean Gen 2 up-market (not sure of details) AU there that had no paperwork. He enquired and it turned out it had just been forgotten and the car had FSH. He got it for a bargain and it was a really good car that he kept for a few years.
The Falcon AU, a car only it's mother could love, cept there are a few people who really like them. The looks of these were a miss for me, the BA though, It looked really cool. I'm not sure but I think this design was going with the rest of Fords cars from that period, in particular the Taurus. I think Ford did for a short time consider rebadging Tauruses as Falcons once they stopped making them. It wasn't a popular idea. To me the Taurus represents the 'Camryfication' of cars. Ughughugh.
My mate is a panel beater and during his apprenticeship they would go to the Ford dealership with a tabletop tow truck, towing a car trailer and pickup the AU Falcons to cut out and repair rust. Apparently they had a dodgy batch of vehicles that was not worthy of anything but scrap.
They seem to rust out in the bootlid a lot like this one has, we stripped out one to use at the speedway but it ended up having rusty A pillars so became a parts car
Build name "FUGLY " The AU was not popular when released for obvious reasons, luckily Ford did a rapid redesign of each end, which gave us the mighty BA. They have though, gone on to become a good cheap Drift car
