I'm curious what your next product will be. I still need to purchase a bottle opener. I like the hooks too, but I don't have my own place. Gifts might be a good idea. 🔥 🪓 Keep The Forge Lit 👊🦊👍
Tim - love the videos man. Ive always heard that the only part of train rail that’s can be hardened is the “clip” but the spikes and rail are kind of hit or miss. Obviously the track you’re using can be hardened or you wouldn’t have made like a million axes! But what kind of steel do you believe it to be? Do you heat treat this stuff similarly or even exactly as any other steels? Thanks in advance for any reply. You’re a big part of keeping me inspired to keep smithing after starting less than a year ago. Wish I had the funds to buy a bottle opener or hatchet to support the channel but things are tight. Keep the videos coming man!!
Love it! Incredible work! I own a small tree business and would be honored to have you and Billy make an axe I could use for hitting wedges (super important for me to have a trustworthy dependable axe), split firewood, moving wood 🪵, and being able to slice small to medium branches off quickly. Love both of your channels. Truly appreciate the integrity and passion you both put into your craft!!! Thank you!
If you're going on an axe bender, I got one for you, an axe pattern that I don't believe has been made since the 1950's. The Puget Sound felling axe was designed for cutting very large trees like the Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir. It weighed 4-5 pounds, had a wide head (up to 14 inches) and narrow cutting edges, around 3.5 to 4 inches and had a much longer than average handle, up to 48 inches long. Here in the Pacific Northwest you can still find massive old cedar stumps with springboard notches cut into them with these axes. The pattern was extremely good at what it was designed for, but is not very good for general purpose work.
Great to see ur videos timmothy. Good to see the updates. Can't wait to see what you do next video. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend timmothy. Keep planning. Keep designing. Weld on. Fab on. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.
The upsetter is such a cool machine! It makes me wonder why we don’t see this tool in many other RUclips blacksmith videos. Is it because it’s really for production work? It just seems so handy, and so very powerful!
Got to see you on Buckins channel I enjoy your videos they are educational and entertaining you have a real future it’s nice to see a young guy doing the work that you never see anymore. Cheers
I love the work you do and the videos. Also I loving the Blackhawk hatchet I( number 08) i ordered, USPS took a little longer to get it to me. It had an excellent weight and feels great to swing no matter where I grip on the handle. Well worth the money for a functional piece of art and living history
I watched your vid in first 10 sec so I think I was the first. Man you r brilliant I been watching you for couple years. You do wicked work bud. Your hammers and wood bullets are top frickin notch bud, don’t stop what you r doin bud you are gonna be in the history books as one of the great blacksmiths bud, I would trade my left nut to have anything made by you. Me n my fiancé have started workin for ourselves and just starting out so funds are crazy limited so for now I’ll have to put your wood bullet in my wish list and if I’m lucky Santa be good to me lol
Just curious my friend in metal craft !!! Did working on the 3 wood bullet's , help you in your processes with your other axe making production methods ??? not sure if I put that right ???
The dies for the 2.0 have the upsetter paying its way! A simple item that's old school for the store is a door stop. A wedge, or a Tim Twisted version would be appealing in a role filled by cheap plastic versions available today.
I don't mean to rain on your parade, but a pretty decent hydrologic press with singe stage tooling would be more effective than the upsetter. If you're doing a several in each stage it would be faster per stage as it seems like the upsetter struggles to be a press and doesn't have the oomf to be a power hammer. It's like the worst of both worlds. The scale loss might be more, but there's less fucking around with a proper press, which can get annoying on a production line.
Thanks for watching! Hope you have a great weekend! Keep the forge lit eh! :)
first
Keep the axe videos coming! Can’t get enough of them. I’m sure I’m not the only one

Hydraulics is dangerous and the upsetter is so specialised
@@Fogyt121 This.
Hot metal and hydraulics is always a worry, and good functioning upsetters are just really really rare.
I found out about your channel from Buckin and already this is easily one of my favourite channels! Keep up the great work Tim and Marten!! 👍
Thumbs up if buckin brought you here. Thumbs up for the boys!

Wow you have quite a blacksmith shop, have you ever done a walk around to explain the tools.
Cheers from the Okanagan. Keep up the good work.
I will come work for a Hudson Bay . I’m not great at anything but I try hard😬
Lol Friday is the start of my work week. I hate it. I'm working through til Wednesday.
Thanks for another great video.
USA full sized forged double bit axe
A cutting slim edge and a rounder convex chunk popping edge would be cool
maybe from some of the Hutson bay ax trimmings you could make a damascus steel knife
When the next episode of repairing the power hammer???
Have you found a use for the ram at the back of the upsetter?
Beautiful!
Just curious my friend in metal craft !!! Did working on the 3 wood bullet's , help you in your processes with your other axe making production methods ??? not sure if I put that right ???
Ah, another episode of the Axe Channel :-D

How sharp do you think you could get an axe without any sanding or grinding
VERY! But a grindstone makes life easier.
How would you harden 01 tool steel? Curious if i did it right.
Just a heads up! There’s a typo on your website for the Hudson Bay Axe. “Excepting preorders”
Thanks for that! fixed it! Cheers!
Quantos quilos pesa cada machado amigo poderia me informar por favor 👍
Please make copper wire the same way you turned a bolt into a long welding wire
Just a idea make Damascus black smith hammer or butcher knife

Hi Martin the strong silent partner.
👍👍
only 18 min late
You have to have a curved Edge Anvil, Because you're ruining your anvil ledge.
I mean this in the most heterosexual way possible……Martin is the prettiest man I ever seen. U guys must have some good genes up there in Canadia ehh 👍
When does Martin get his own channel? Asking for a friend...
Martin is a german import though 🙂
