I am glad to see folks talking axes and hatchets again. Good knives and machetes have there place but axes are a tool that you can follow across the landscape through time.
Hello Dave, got to see you at blade show this year this past Friday an bought the 2lbs version of this, bro I love this thing also thank you for allowing me to get a selfie with you at the Pathfinder booth, you an corpral are my two bushcraft heroes, thanks for all what you do.
Dave brother, you are a legend, God bless,it was to meet you an corpral kelly live an in person at blade show 2022 in Atlanta, hope to see yall next year too.
Nice little axe. I have a Hudson Bay model axe that I have had for over 40 yrs, couldn't tell you who the manufacturer is, it has about a 2 to 2 1/2 pound head and about a 22 to 26 inch handle that I have replaced once. It is the best little axe that I have ever had. It has built miles and miles of fence, split many a rail and cut and split wood for many a fire. It is lite enough to strap to my pack and it ties onto my saddle with ease. The mask is made from an old boot top. You just can't go wrong with this style of axe with either a short or long handle. I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
Dave really miss your longer teaching videos... I've learned so much and have really become a lot better camper do to ur vids... hope to see more long camp and bushcraft vids again soon... great vids thanks for all u put out there!!!
making my annual pilgrimage to the holy land--Self Reliance Outfitters Store in Indianapolis on Thursday. can't wait to see the new digs. been every year since you've opened the store.
I really like these videos because it helps to understand size and dimensions when held in the hand. Id like to see a similar video covering the new knives produced by PKS. They all look great!
Thanks for the preview Dave - I've been debating a hatchet, but am not sure where I'd fit it in any system I carry - I usually would have my Woodcraft Axe + Knife or Tomahawk + Knife for this area. That's still a very nice looking tool though. Might be a good addition to the workshop :)
Dave, you know I enjoy and appreciate every single video you make and post; but, being a neck CANCER survivor, that tobacco spitting sends chills up my spine every time! I would hate to see anything happen to you, so please give serious thought to giving that stuff up Brother!! God bless you and your family! Your HUGE fan, Mongo
Looks like a nice tool. Like others, my issue is where does it fit in my kit? I already have a Bacho saw, a CRKT spike hawk, and a Craftsman hatchet. I personally prefer half masks(my hatchet wears a kydex mask) as it still lets you hammer with the blade covered.
Dave, i've been searching for bankline down here in Brazil and i've stumbled across a lot of similar cordage, but not quite the same twisted look that bankline has. What is it made from and being tarred means literally covered in some sort of tar or is it another substance (like wax or sort)?
Hey Dave, you've probably recited those closing remarks to your videos 1,000 times. First time I ever recall you getting tongue tied. It's probably the chew...lol
Make my wife a pack for a smaller frame lady for a fair price!! Needs two side pockets one to fit a 1ltr nalgene bottle the other to fit lady essentials. Main bag to pack usual gear...wool blanket, cup, pot and minor kit! My lady is very efficient and more sufficient than any man I've ever met, just smaller. Even though she is robust and needs a pack to suit her! Please and thanks!

Nice little hatchet, would love you to do a comparative review on a few as I'm sure you must have a little collection by now!

I see your changed your mind about snaps. In another video you stated you hated snaps on an axe mask.
Just because this is the only way they are available does not mean I changed my mind at all, I prefer ties, but this is what they have
I was watching duel survival where you were in Washington yesterday. great stuff. awsome channel as well !
Guru your video rendering had to improve when a person respects your opinion then I want to see fully zoomed version. Not from long distance. Regards
Standup guy!
