He gets things to a better shape and finish using the band saw, than most get using belt sanders and files. He's definitely proof that with enough practice and use, any tool can become an art. Even his older videos show his skull with a band saw. He uses for ways most wouldn't even think to
Jimmy Diresta it is absolutely beautiful. Wow. Hopefully you get great use out of it for many years to come sir. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
Finally! Someone really forged an axe! I've seen so many videos of people claiming to forge something, but they are just making something. Jimmy, a true FORGERY! steve
Not a forgery. Props to Jimmy but I think many missed the question mark in the title, DIRESTA included in the logo pattern, and leaving PLUMB on the obverse. A great demo for the laser and Jimmy's creativity and skill.
Watching the reveal on that etching was so satisfying! Watching Jimmy carve up the axe handle reminds me of his axe class from almost 10 years ago!! Where does the time go? Love your work brother! ❤👊
Great looking axe! If you're making straight axe handles though, it's a lot faster to turn them on the lathe. Offset the drive centers to make the oval you want.
Thanks for the memory jump start,my step Grandfather taught me how to make all kinds of handles used a spoke shave though and white ash,I love your laser engraved double bit, hickory?🤗😎🤗😎
Jimmy, I just ordered one of your ice picks and some pencils I’ll have in my classroom (I’m a teacher). It’s a special day in my house when I get a diresta project.
Beautiful work, truly. One minor quibble, the grain orientation in the handle is completely off, meaning that as a user, the handle life is likely to be short. As a wall-hanger, of course, it doesn't matter.
Reminds of an axe head i found embedded in a tree in Germany. Just the axe head, the handle long rotten away. I was detecting with friends and even today, i don't know why i looked up, way higher than normally one would look whilst doing that, and there it was, half eaten by the tree as it grew around it.
Incredible build great use of the laser. I like that flash forward scene brought the video together really good. I like that file trick to for support in the vice.
Having seen how great you are with the bandsaw at Makers Central and how good you're other making skills you have. I can understand how you are considered the best. Keep on teaching the world. Thank you.
Awesome work. I was listening to the Axe and Iron podcast yesterday and thought about forging a black raven but using a cricut and vinyl stencil to make the resist. I think you got a much deeper and cleaner etch using the laser. Really amazing work man.
I was going to ask if you added some marking somewhere to differentiate it from an original, - then I saw the closeup of the etching - clever and subtle.
Relatively new to RUclips Makers, this Video Showed why you so popular. Now I get it. Bravo, Craftsman Infotainment. Yes i looked up Kelly Plumb 3-2 axe...
Never get tired of marvelling at Jimmy working a bandsaw
Jimmy could do live streaming anytime he is at the bandsaw and I’m sure he would have an audience that rivaled a video game streamer on twitch.
a confident sculptor
My thoughts exactly. Nobody else runs a bandsaw like that, working a piece down to that level.
Pure artistry. Sculpting at its most versatile.
He gets things to a better shape and finish using the band saw, than most get using belt sanders and files.
He's definitely proof that with enough practice and use, any tool can become an art.

Excellent homage to a legacy tool. Another example of classic form and function.. Gorgeous.
Looks fantastic! Now to make a cutting board to go with it so on slow days you can use it to make lunch in the shop.
Stellar. Bringing old tools back to life is very satisfying.
The way you work is just fascinating. Using the band saw to carve and shape the rough outline is artistry at work. Very well done! 🤘🏻
Jimmy works is magic once again lovely old job
Wow man. Pretty sick from beginning to end.
Hello Jimmy Diresta beautiful restoration beautifully restored well done
I got the fizz just watching this ! Thanks for all your time and effort.

JD's skills on the bandsaw are insane. I loved the knives he used to whip up on it.
Great result on the laser Jimmy. You are going to love Lightburn the more you dig into it. Shout out if you want some tips👍👌✌️

@@marshallhansen5170 I think Steve meant it as a joke: forging as in heating and hammering metal vs forging as in counterfeiting ;)
Ah, it's the extremely rare DiResta Black Raven axe. 😁 Fun walkthrough of the process. Thanks for sharing!
" Sculpting" with the bandsaw always amazes me. Beautiful work ( per usual).
Great restoration, but I have an axe to grind . No I don’t, I just love watching you work, and taming that bandsaw . Brilliant !
Jimmy, you have a trail marker tree! How cool!
Yes! Was always there 😃
Nice workshop, amazing skills.
Awesome video! I was hoping you were going to chop a tree down at the end!
I recently restored a couple of axes. Very satisfying. You just took it to a new level - Thanks, Jimmy! 😎
Watching the reveal on that etching was so satisfying! Watching Jimmy carve up the axe handle reminds me of his axe class from almost 10 years ago!! Where does the time go? Love your work brother! ❤👊
I've missed the bandsaw sculpting, I could watch hours of just that. Great job as usual Jimmy!
wishing you good vibes from the UK Jimmy. keep it up

Dang, Jimmy; this is why I watch your channel.
Good to see some builds like the old days
Yes. Shake up that profit axe market, thank you!😊
Thanks for the memory jump start,my step Grandfather taught me how to make all kinds of handles used a spoke shave though and white ash,I love your laser engraved double bit, hickory?🤗😎🤗😎
Jimmy, I just ordered one of your ice picks and some pencils I’ll have in my classroom (I’m a teacher). It’s a special day in my house when I get a diresta project.
Well done. Simple and straightforwardl.
Man, it’s so cool that you found the axe that you forged years ago and are now refurbishing it!
That axe was forged by Plumb
10:15 that fleck is spot on
Beautiful work, truly. One minor quibble, the grain orientation in the handle is completely off, meaning that as a user, the handle life is likely to be short. As a wall-hanger, of course, it doesn't matter.
Great film. That Tunder Laser is awesome. Electrolysis worked fantastic. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Love the different skills and techniques shown in this video. Great title too...
Such a cool process...gives me some ideas for my students next year. 👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻❤️🤙🏻🤙🏻
Using a band saw like a drawknife... Woodworking surgery level precision right there.
Perfect restoration, congratulations friend for the amazing work 😊
Happy Sunday Jimmy, nice job on the double!
Nicely done, that etch turned out great!
Great Axe and haft.
Congratulations Jimmy on 2,000,000 subs.

This is incredible! Awesome work that looks spot on like an original black raven.
I have two of these exact Kelly axe heads. They were manufactured an hour from here in Charleston Wv
Nice restoring of an axe.
The axe-murderer who left it in the tree should like the new handle and clean blade.😉
Bloody beautiful mate.👍
Great job on that ax, cheers !
Jimmy your a wizard on that bandsaw
Nice work
I still can’t believe you work that quickly at the bandsaw and haven’t slipped yet.
Hes always been a wizard on the bandsaw 👏
Incredible build great use of the laser. I like that flash forward scene brought the video together really good. I like that file trick to for support in the vice.
What I need one! Will go with my Raven Lunatic shirt!
Very Nice Sir!
Everything you do is amazing! Definitely made my weekend.
That looks so damn good with that logo that it could have been from the 19th century. Really good job.
Having seen how great you are with the bandsaw at Makers Central and how good you're other making skills you have. I can understand how you are considered the best. Keep on teaching the world. Thank you.
(Very cool compliment).
Thank you very much!

BEAUTIFUL see you on the next one
Gorgeous!
I cried when you painted the axe head. I was all noooooo noooooooo. 😂 Such a gorgeous axe now. ❤ Raven about it. ^wink
I was going to ask if you added some marking somewhere to differentiate it from an original, - then I saw the closeup of the etching - clever and subtle.
You are truly the master of all crafts.
I need to get me one of those axe trees 🌳
Awesome Jimmy!
Nice job demonstrating tech with amazing possibilities. Also you just destroyed the collectors marketplace 🤣
🤫
Awesome! And everyone knows a Black Raven chops better than any other axe!...lol
Awesome, Buckin Billy Ray would be proud.
Impressive work! Great video 🪓
Thank you my friend
Wow that Ent doesn't look too happy you sank an axe in the side of his face 😮 How ever nice the axe is 😂
Whittlin' Bandsaw Spectacular!
I was going to comment that you didn't forge the axe when it suddenly clicked... Nice word play, well done.
Wish I could find an axe in the woods with the head on it that tight. Heck the axes I use none of them stay tight.
Nice skills
Relatively new to RUclips Makers, this Video Showed why you so popular. Now I get it. Bravo, Craftsman Infotainment. Yes i looked up Kelly Plumb 3-2 axe...
💪🏼🤘🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Ah Jimmy; that tree you put that ax into;
it's giving you the eye.
I read annoyance all over it's face.
It's more like; Ooooo, I'm scared.
Love the Title Great Video!
Joli travail ! La gravure est faite à l’électrolyse ?
Wow forget&finish 💪
Diresta Charleston, WV... I think I spent a week in that town one night.
Nice watch
you just hit Groot with the Axe at the end!!
Bringing the old good stuff back to life, like always. | DirestAx
Nice
How cool would it be to actually just find an axe embedded in a tree. It would be like finding a holy relic
Nice! Do you see what some of them go for? Kelly black raven single and double bit worth some dough.
Killed it
The Black Plumb!
Dude, you didnt forge anything... ohhh I see what you did there ;-)
