You need to invest in a scale just for the work shop, that way it's always there and not taking a holiday at your home lol. Love how it's all turned out.
Hey Tim, sorry to hear about the lost drivers license. The leather wallet I've had for the past 5 years is The Keeper Wallet, made by The Loyal Workshop. Their goods are amazing, as I said, had mine for 5 years, not even a tear or loose stitch. The brown vege tanned leather patinas beautifully, cannot recommend enough my man.
Beautiful axe. Great to see such awesome craftsmanship. If I could afford one I'd pre-order immediately. Whoever buys one will have a workable, heirloom piece of art. Wow.
Hey man I'm a woodworker and to save you some time with those swirl marks, you can buy a sheet sander that only moves in one direction, similar to hands sanding, they aren't expensive and can take any grit paper you can find, I use it for"hands sanding" high grit finishes on my knives
I got a Bellroy "Note sleeve" wallet a few years ago. It's quite nice, doesn't bulk out much when you fill it with cards, and it's holding up really well.
Beautiful axe I like the idea of longer handle. Could you show the top down view of the new and old axe. Is it wider towards the eye. I think you need another scale. 😀 can’t wait to see tomorrow’s project
If I lived somewhere that an axe was useful to me, I'd buy one in the blink of an eye now that I have a proper fulltime job. If you ever do a run of knives, I will definitely buy one!
hey buddy, your trade is at the top of the engineering structure, its where everything started, you got leather in your shop, make a new wallet, hahaha, i am from London in England UK, no one here really has the old school trades now days apart from the old guys, i love watching your videos, as an engineer i make an effort to make sure i know how stuff works, i would love to forge but i am at the other end of engineering as in the R&D builds of modern tech, any way keep up the good work.
How about making a couple mini-hatchets for us city folk who don‘t really have use for a full sized hatched or even a full blown axe? Something that you could also use as a hammer, maybe, and easily take on a camping or hiking trip, with a 10“ handle and 2.5x5“ head or so?
I nearly asked if you would be interested in doing a montreal pattern because you’re out of Canada but it already looks like one to me 🤔. The old one looks like a hudson bay but the new one looks like a montreal! Love it!
George makes a great wallet. I've been asked in the check out line several times where I got it. Walmart. It has 16 compartments for cards, 2 for drivers license, SS card, etc. and two for money.
I recommend a Grip6 wallet. It’s really non traditional but I love mine and it’s so much slimmer than my previous wallet so it doesn’t stick out as much
On the subject of wallets. Have you put any thought into a front pocket wallet? I hated the idea for years until I tried it out for a while. It's the only way I carry a wallet anymore. And I went with a wallet from recycled firefighter. You can find his links if you search. Plus they say it's better for your back.
Hey Tim! I noticed someone else already mentioned it but I’d also really love to make you a wallet. Can’t hurt to have a backup from the other guy :). I’ll send you some photos and colors to the email you mentioned to the other gentleman! Love the videos man, been an addict lately.
Sounds like a great time to get sponsored by ridge wallets! I've got a brown leather with the "patina" (is it acid wash? Stone wash? Can't remember) that I absolutely love but I got it at the market in Charleston, SC so that doesn't really help you lol.
Axes look great bud. Thanks for the videos, keep it up! I really thing you augt to get an old piece of leather and put some buffing compound on it. Just run that strap across the edge a couple times to hone that burr off.
Check out Saddleback Leather, but be warned, people complain that the leather is too heavy. They do not pre-distress it, I like how mine get that look naturally.
Look into getting a leather belt much like your sanding belts and use that to finish the edge after everything, no burr, and sharp as it can be, think back to barbers and straight razors. .
Not if you want the stamping nice and crisp. Everytime it goes to high heat it losses surface material to oxidation. So that relatively small stamping will burn away. The order he's doing it in here puts the stamp in there just before heat treat.
ITS GOOD TO SEE YOU EVOLVING IN YOU AXE JOURNEY
You need to invest in a scale just for the work shop, that way it's always there and not taking a holiday at your home lol.
Love how it's all turned out.
"I lost my drivers license"... was expecting a ridge wallet sponsorship ad next LOL
I was shocked it wasn't an ad.
You are not alone with that thought XD
Fantastic craftsman and product R&D. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's video.
Awesome haircut Martin 👊🦊👍

Beautiful job timmothy. Great to see ur videos. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend timmothy. Forge on. Keep making. God bless.
The axe drop test was really informative. Great way to visualize honing the burr.
Beautiful axe. Great to see such awesome craftsmanship. If I could afford one I'd pre-order immediately.
Whoever buys one will have a workable, heirloom piece of art. Wow.
I always run my sharpened knives over the corner of a 2x4 a few times to remove the bur. Love this style of axe!!
You’re new Hudson Bay is gorgeous! It’s more beefy and substantial! I absolutely love it it’s almost a Rheinland pattern
I love It especially with the 28 inch handel, looks like a perfect wedge banger. You do amazing work.
Your sizes between the 2 axes look good, smaller head with 24-in and larger head with 28-in. I like them both, they could each fill a roll

Not only is the forge lit, but so is Martin's new hair cut XD
Great work on those new axe profiles, you guys have really refined the design and made something beautiful there.
The line " Keep the forge lit a. " I find so motivating and inspiring, it pairs very well with every great video.
"Eh?".

It’s a burr, Tim. I had the same discovery with saw chains. Knock off the burr, and your in business! Great craftsmanship. Keep the forge lit.🙂
Amazing how a few hits and that burr was gone. What about Strapping it? Would you even bother if your were doing it?
The new model looks soooo much better, congratulations

Just a tip, Scotch brite sanding belts are awesome for the final sanding on axe handles.
That maple sounds nice and seasoned!
The amount and quality of content your pushing out as of late has been pretty damn excellent. And then there's the axes.
Finally, someone who understands axe geometry and implements it well in his product.

A video of you at the axe factory with an answer to the stump/stick thing would be epic.👍

Marten's hair looks fantastic, tell him he got a great cut! :D
Yeah that cut suits him really well!
You are going to become the best axe maker in all of Canada at this rate. Wait! You already are!!! Excuse me- you AND Martin!
Martin, great to see you sporting Canuck tartan! Your skills rival that of Tims.
I nearly asked if you would be interested in doing a montreal pattern because you’re out of Canada but it already looks like one to me 🤔. The old one looks like a hudson bay but the new one looks like a montreal! Love it!
About the burr, did you use a strop? I remember being told to run the edge on a piece of wood after sharpening - maybe that was to remove the burr
Exceptional Craftsmanship 👏
Order #513 is looking forward to the 28 inch handle. I’m hoping to put it through it’s paces
George makes a great wallet. I've been asked in the check out line several times where I got it. Walmart.
It has 16 compartments for cards, 2 for drivers license, SS card, etc. and two for money.
Secrid makes a bunch of cool leather covered aluminum wallets. I’ve had the bare aluminum for 2 years and love it.
I recommend a Grip6 wallet. It’s really non traditional but I love mine and it’s so much slimmer than my previous wallet so it doesn’t stick out as much
Keep On Forging these Cool Tools
That’s a sexy axe! I can tell how good it feels by the way you swing it! Oof it’s so tempting to buy one but I really have no need for it!
Did you try leather belt for belt grinder? there are 2×72 stropping belts available which are great against burr and leave an awesome edge
Sweet axe! The improvements are great!
Nailed the profile Timothy BBR style
Does a leather strop remove the burr?
Beautiful axe I like the 2.0 . The 3lb head and 28” handle definitely around camp axe

Pumped for the new project. Keep the forge lit needs to be on some merch. A mug, sticker and shirt. I’m a buyer.
Are you stropping the axe before drop testing it? Quick way to knock the burr off.
You build a mean axe my friend. Great vid. 🌲🌲🌲
That axe turned out to be a real looker.
Look into Ashland leather wallets. I've had my shell cordovan wallet for almost 6 years now and the patina is great.
Does the head stick because it's picked up some resin from the stump? Does it stick as well immediately after another cleaning?
You should check out Open Sea Leather! They make amazing handmade wallets!
Timothy, do you still do much architectural blacksmithing. I don't remember the last update I saw about any projects.
Never been big fan of Hudson Bay pattern but think you have changed my mind
Axes look great bud. Thanks for the videos, keep it up! I really thing you augt to get an old piece of leather and put some buffing compound on it. Just run that strap across the edge a couple times to hone that burr off.
great job on that axe .
I have a piece of steel that doesn't spark at all. A magnet sticks to it but it doesn't spark at all. It's like 2 feet long and 1.5 inch round stock.
Looks really good! Keep up the great work and great content
stock and barrel leather by far the best leather wallets
Check out Saddleback Leather, but be warned, people complain that the leather is too heavy. They do not pre-distress it, I like how mine get that look naturally.
Such a beautiful axe, holy moly
Tim the Vlogsmith!
Does an axe not have an insert of different hardened steel on the cutting edge?
That is some damn fine work.
Nice spoiler for tomorrow, can't wait to see it.
Hank's Belts, their wallets and belts are second to none.
I'm a leather crafter and would love to send you a wallet bud
Oh no way! Id love that! send me an email! info@timothydyck.com
That’s freaking AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have my respect. I can do many crafts, but leather escapes me. Salute.
This is awesome!
Dude…. If you do this ill send you my knife for a sheathing
Give Trayvax wallets a look. I've carried their Ascent model for years with no complaints 🤙
Invest in the razor sharp wheel setup. It will eliminate that burr on any type of blades.
Have to say, that's a really nice axe.
I need to start saving up my quarters... I need one.
Pretty intense opening montage 👍
I was taught when sharpening tools to roll the edge into a piece of end grain to remove the burr
Do you make carving axes ?
YAY NEW PROJECT!!!
Look into getting a leather belt much like your sanding belts and use that to finish the edge after everything, no burr, and sharp as it can be, think back to barbers and straight razors. .
I think you could buy another scale to keep at the shop eh? Great stuff man love your content
Good stuff man. Greetings from Slave Lake AB.
Nice! love it!
You’re going to be splitting firewood like abs islander in no time🤣
That thing is definitely sharp enough you wouldn't wanna be off on your aim. Wont take much to be missing some body parts lol
Is that handle made out of oak?
That axe can walk the walk 👍
Fossil makes some good wallets.
Nice axes, but are they meant to be small? They seem a little small.
Wouldn't it be better (cheaper, faster) to stamp the "1913" into the axe sometime during the manufacturing process when the axe is already hot?
Not if you want the stamping nice and crisp. Everytime it goes to high heat it losses surface material to oxidation. So that relatively small stamping will burn away. The order he's doing it in here puts the stamp in there just before heat treat.
@@davidelliott8324 Ok, makes sense.
Do you still build the old style,,?
Carhart makes nice reasonably priced wallets
You should experiment with coffee as a wood stain for a handle sometime.
What're you using the scale at home for? Huh? :D
Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter 😁
I know someone has already asked but I would like to know how much the 28" Hudson costs
Price is on my website! www.Timothydyck.com
Definitely check out Open Sea Leather mate, his wallets are the bomb
Oh my god will someone send Tim a scale to KEEP at the shop !!!!!!
My mate makes leather wallets in the uk. His company is called wolfwood, I have a few bits from him and would highly recommend his work to anyone
Fossil Men's Derrick RFID-Blocking Leather Bifold Wallet
i'm good with 28", can't wait to see and handle the 2.0!! Hope mine is the "01" in the video!! ;)
Need to collaborate with Joe Robinet for a custom axe build
