Excellent work,in every way-observing and interpreting the older work, and the forge-practice itself! Great welding too,in particular that middle skew-weld,just wonderful. The resulting tool is obviously fantastic, clear proof that the technique was interpreted correctly, thanks for documenting the process-a Most excellent and valuable video.
P.S. Separate thanks for showing those specialised set-tools for forging the inside of the inner curve, once again,a most competent historic recreation of one of the most important(even iconic) pattern.
I am not sure what this hammer is called. there is no markings on it and it has many hand forged parts so i believe it probably was made in a local machine shop about a hundred years ago or so (judging from the fact that there is no welds or castings, all riveted steel plate construction). It had many parts missing so me and a friend built a new clutch and belt system aswell as the anvil and lower die
It's a treat seeing you use power tools for the grunt work and the hammer work moving metal the old way, and great results.

A nice piece of work. I am wondering if you sell them, and where you are located.
Thanks, I normally make axes to order but i just got a job working for a large medieval church here in Norway so I can not take orders for a while
Could I ask, how many hours of work did it take you to make the axe head?
about 8 hrs
@@BlacksmithsHeritage Thank you for that info. As many others have said, it is a really beautiful piece of work.

Og velidig fint arbeid!
What kind of power hammer is that. I have a friend in northern Minnesota in th USA that has a similar hammer.

😍 magnifique
Smide du utgangsbiten til kroppen eller kuttet du den ut?
nei jeg kutta ut startemnet fra plate, maskinhammeren klarer ikke å smi på så høye emner
🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
How awesome 😍😍
Bra video :)
