My favorite part of blacksmithing is working with a friend. Having a striker and learning how to communicate what and how to do. Its such a fun and giving experience.
1) I am jealous you get to be friend with Torbjorn. 2) I really respect that you filed the axe profile when you had a huge belt grinder (I would have filed it too) and 3) I think you’re extremely brave to buff an edge with an angle grinder.
Truly delightful to watch the synergy between people forging together! I started carpentry with hand tools a few years ago. I never expected to do so much work with axe/hatchet: shaping stool/bench legs, roughing out all sorts of things, splitting wide boards, etc. Even hewing short logs to make benches. My tool is too soft to hold an edge for long and too thick to chop with little effort. I was just thinking how nice it'd be to invest in a quality tool like this one when you said you'd be giving it away. I hope it goes to someone who will get a lifetime of delightful use from it!
No job I know of is harder with two people. Thanks for showing us your struggles. Makes me feel better about struggling while trying to accomplish something by myself.

Unfortunatly Nick never answered the call to receive the axe, so I had to pick another winner: simon myers If I dont hear from him/her I will pick another winner in 7 days The giveaway will end 1st September. I will then ask the winner here in the comment section to contact me via email. The winner will be selected randomly! Good luck :) /Nils
Two of my favourite blacksmiths forging an beautiful axe together... woud really like to own this axe. I hope I am the lucky one! I am already waiting for your next videos 😊
Great video! ive been making small knives and decorative pieces for a while but want to break into axe forging. How well does 1045 hold up durability wise over time? I'd imagine using somethin low carbon for the head and then forge welding 1080 or 1095 for the blade would be longer lasting no?
By Hammer and Hand All Arts Do Stand. Thanks so much for sharing. Mesmerising and inspiring. I currently work for a local authority overseeing Children’s Services, within a deprived city in the UK. Due to the terrible things I see and hear everyday, my own mental health has deteriorated to the point that I am currently on an extended break from work to recover. A big part of my recovery has been watching your videos. I am so inspired, I have decided to enrol on a three day beginner’s Smithing course, so thank you. I can’t wait.
your video came up as a suggestion, and I had to watch as my Grandfather was a blacksmith, as well as a builder, carpenter and farmer, he was a true pioneer here in Australia. loved watching your work, and seeing the finished product.
I am still learning a lot of the basics, I am a toolmaker by trade. Enjoy making and fixing things. You and Thorbjorn are respected forge experts by my standards. I enjoy craftsmanship that make it seem so easy. Thank you very much.
As a fan of antique tools, it's refreshing to see someone working in the old methods, making virtually everything by hand, rather than taking a modern tool or leftover bit of material and modifying it with power hammers, saws, and grinders. THIS is blacksmithing. Well done, Lads, very good indeed. Very impressive.
Just recently found your channel after researching some axes I found metal detecting. Started with restoring others’ work and now finding the inspiration from your videos to slowly step into the forging world. Thanks for the great content and keeping the craftsmanship alive! In a world of mass production, it’s extremely refreshing to see you and others do what you do.
Very nice hand axe. I’ve been admiring Torbjorn’s work for a number of years. This is the first time I’ve seen Nils Ogren’s work. Will definitely check him out.
I completely understand using the modern technologies like the power hammer for your day-to-day production, but I absolutely love when your videos are 100% done by hand. Amazing work! Something I aspire to!
La complicité dans votre travail est vraiment agréable à voir, et le rendu de la hache est magnifique. Continuez à nous montrer de belles choses. Hâte de voir votre prochaine collaboration!
I have a huge appreciation for medal working/forging. Your skills and craftsmanship is clearly evident. I truely enjoy watching a Master at work. Well done Sir 👏 👍
Got my 18yo son at up with a forge n anvil. We have made our own hammers, tongs, and some hardy tools. It's something fun and useful we can learn to do together! Ty for your videos! They give us tips, and techniques if we watch carefully.
loved the acting, the driving, the dancing and ofcourse the forging process. Like how the two of you work together and the axe came out stunning, great job!
I loved watching your process! I'm an amateur blacksmith and can appreciate the skill and effort involved. I especially enjoyed watching the 2 of you work together. Thank you!
I have one long time friend who is a blacksmith. He has a T shirt that says "It's a Polyhammerous thing" Loved it! Me, I am into wood. Metal maybe in another life line....
This has been a great channel to find. I go to The American College of the Building Arts (ACBA), which is a school for traditional trades such as blacksmithing. On the other hand, I am a timber framer and have made many friends with my blacksmithing classmates, who recommend me to Torbjorn and your channels. They have been a joy to watch.
Great job guys it’s so good to see you can work together on such a cool piece of work with both stamps of very talented people always good to watch you guys work, cheers from Australia!
I truly enjoyed watching the forging of such a nice tool. I have not tried anything this in-depth yet. But I have forged a few knives from old springs. This video has inspired me to go make some more. Thanks for sharing.
It was nice to see how two people work with such joy together to help one another. I am forging since January this year and I dont have people in my peer who share my hobby.
OMG, it would be such a pleasure have this beautiful piece here in Brazil! Perfect work yours by now, came in here because I already love the work of @torbjornahman and now I'm going to watch and subscribe for your channel! #LetMeHaveThisAxe #FromBrazil #ChooseMePlease #BlacksmithArt
My grand-grand father was a blacksmith (maréchal-ferrant in French) and your vidéo reminds me old, really old but good moments with him in front of the fire. Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
The axe with the leather sheath arrived in Marlow, UK today. Really pleased. It is really sharp and has been put in the workshop. Thank you so much Nils.

Looks awesome! RUclips recommended this video to me, probably because I've been following Torbjörn for years. Pozdrav iz Hrvatske (greetings from Croatia)!

What a star studded crew. The axe is wonder. I really like the treatment of the handle. Torbjorn's arrival was terrific.
It always a treat to see both of you working together!

It never ceases to amaze me how blacksmiths turn lumps of metal into the most useful and versatile tools. I love watching such videos.
15:02 It is absolutely mesmerizing watching tools appear from a block of steel! Thanks to the both of you for sharing your craft.
Torbjorn to the rescue! This is an awesome collaboration! I love how he zoomed over! Great looking axe! Wonderful video Nils ❤🔥🪓

My good friend, Michael, was a remarkable forger. I would have shared this with him; but, sadly, he has passed.
Thank you both. 🙂
Great job, Master! And Thornbjorn’s participation in the work is a separate amazingly positive aspect of the work! Thank you!👍👍👍
I generally work alone, but you've inspired me to find a blacksmith friend with whom I can work and laugh together. Great video.
