My hubby is 2X and I have been challenged several times to get the "just in case" or "I need options" clothing to fit in a carry on. I'd love to see you do a video with one of those guy friends who is a bit of an over packer!
thank you for addressing that limit for large men and about the merino wool limits ( I have yet to find the perfect company that doesn't have mediocre merino wool) come to Philly for federal donuts and chicken😅
Ya, they just don't make them in a big enough size or if they do, the size runs small. I will keep that in mind if we visit Philly. Brian wants to go see the Liberty Bell someday.
Watch all your videos, but, really nice to see something geared towards us guys. Glad to know that I'm not the only one that looks at my toiletries and wonders why there are so few. Backpacks are great and easy but smaller ones work better the older I get. But, for a week, I can usually get by with an Osprey 26+6 backpack and a small personal bag or organized "fanny" pack for up to a week so guess that means I could travel forever with just that. Cruises are usually an international sized roller and small backpack. Travel is life!!!!
I always wear a jacket with pockets on the plane. I keep quite a few little things I need on the plane in the pockets and I just take off the jacket to go through security.
I packed my husband's stuff in a carryon too..and he's a 3X too. He took 3 pairs of light chinos, 2 merino T-shirts, 3 dressier golf polos (these are great), underware and socks. His hat is foldable. His toiletry kit is small too. He still had space left. My husband's personal item was his camera bag.
I had a few moments so I clicked on the thumbnail mainly because I saw Brian carrying a convertible backpack which is my style of luggage and I was wondering how it ended up on "Lauren's channel"! But #ItsTheKellys ! Most of my friends and relationships have been with men who know how to travel light and carry on only. But I dated a man years ago who insisted on packing multiple pairs of jeans no matter the climate. He would pack on a carry-on like I did but the jeans consumed 95% of his space. I tried to break him of this and I might have succeeded but only after we had both moved on! Otherwise, this is the way you go! As a female I rarely carry a laptop anymore as my iPad or Surface will suffice, I wear one pair of shoes and carry a lighter pair in my luggage. I believe in a capsule wardrobe like I believe in travel being the greatest education you can get, and I haven't paid baggage fees in over a decade. Great video Lauren and Brian! 👏 👏
I got a Brian type of a husband. He also likes a backpack and doesn’t have that much clothes to pack. He’s good at fitting stuff in the suitcases. I’m better at figuring out what to bring. You both compliment each other.
That's awesome! Brian will often defer to my decisions on clothes. He just picks out a few things he wants to wear, and I tell him if it's possible or not haha.
I have the older version of the tortuga 40l backpack and have taken it everywhere with me. Multiple times to Europe and all over the US. Their older packing cube(don’t know if the newer ones do this) are the shape of the bag(kind of rounded on one side of each cube which is super nice when packing. Really maximizing your space.
Your videos are great and I'm learning so much. I'm back with another suggestion. Since there are many of us who have yet to fly, could you do a packing video showing us how you organize your personal item bag and carryon to go through TSA. For example, explain the step by step TSA security check process and how you access the items that need to be put in those bins that go through the screening machines. Basically show what items to put in what bags (personal item vs. carryon) and act out the security process. You could even use your husband as a fake TSA agent lol!
Travel Tips by Laurie is also on RUclips. She has great videos w info specific to TSA, flying, etc. I think the videos from It's the Kellys & Travel Tips by Laurie compliment each other.
Hubby picks out his clothes and I pack them. He usually carries about the same amount of clothes as Brian, minus the undies and usually only one pair of shoes. It's toiletries I have a problem with him on. I just got him the Tripped toiletry bag and he declared it not big enough. Seriously, I use a Travelon one that is smaller so I'll start using the Tripped minus the liquids bag and the clear bag that hangs off, I don't need it. Evidently he is higher maintenance than I am when it comes to personal care. I can't convince him that anywhere he stays will have shampoo, body wash or soap and he doesn't need full size bottles even if he must have his own.
I will keep your suggestion in mind. Brian and I have a few trips coming up together over the next several months so their should be more men's packing content.
Great video! I would love to see the packing intervention too. My Hubs insists he has to have a white cotton T-shirt for Every. Single. Day! I’ve decided to get him 2 merino wool crew shirts! Hopefully this will help him.
This was one of my favorite videos. Love seeing you and Brian together! You did a great job packing for him. Most of us wives pack for our husband. If we left it up to them they would just bring one change of clothes and a toothbrush. 😂😂I always lay out the clothes for approval before packing.
I've had many well-meaning but misguided people tell me that I could always lose weight. Yes, I would very much like to lose weight. Yes, I believe it would vastly improve my quality of life. Perhaps someday I will find the willpower to actually make it happen. But I don't want to put my life on hold until then
I know we would all love to “improve” ourselves in one way or another, but as long as we are happy and having wonderful days and living our best lives, that is perfectly okay! 🥰🥰🥰 we hear it alot too.
My husband is a 3x too and I feel your pain about merino wool companies and sizing for men. I have found pants great for travel that aren't a cargo pant for him on Fabletics. The waist goes to a 44, which fits him. They are The Only Pant (classic fit).
My husband is definitely a minimalist when it comes to packing! There's been a few times he's refused my suggestion of at least one long sleeved shirt or a light jacket and regretted it! Even if you are going some place tropical it can be cold inside from air-conditioning and sometimes there's cold wind on cruise ships. 😉
Thanks for this video, my husband is going with me on my next trip and this will be helpful when packing his bag. Have you tried the ebags rolling motherload backpack?
I always consider the weight limit and then never ever get weighed. So I don’t worry about it anymore. (I talked about this a lot with my last trip pack and unpack video)
My hubby is 3X tall. He is very good at minimizing the amount of clothes he packs, but his shoes are always the problem, especially because he needs supportive shoes.
I make my boyfriend pack his own stuff but its similar to the amount that Brian brings. Probably just one more pair of jeans, because he is tough on clothing.
I don't have a BBM😅 unfortunately but I do have a millennial who has a ton of jackets, tech accessories, sneakers, hats, sunglasses, active wear like bulky sweats or hoodies, stinky dirty laundry and so it's still painful to get him to use packing cubes 😕 and he gets annoyed that I need his extra space
How did I do packing Brian? Let me know below!

I will have to ask around.

Smart move!

Great video Lauren and Brian! 👏 👏
Brian would use a backpack every time if he could. His back is not shot like mine is.

I was SO envious looking at Brian's toiletries bag! It makes me (almost) give up wearing makeup! 😂
Oh I know. I only wore makeup for one day on my last trip and it totally made me rethink!

Love it! Thanks for putting together this video - I would have liked to see each packed piece weighed also, maybe next time?
I will keep your suggestion in mind. Brian and I have a few trips coming up together over the next several months so their should be more men's packing content.

Those shirts should work perfectly. Brian used to pack more extra stuff before I met him but after our first trip, I won him over with bringing less.
This was one of my favorite videos. Love seeing you and Brian together! You did a great job packing for him. Most of us wives pack for our husband. If we left it up to them they would just bring one change of clothes and a toothbrush. 😂😂I always lay out the clothes for approval before packing.
Great Video! You guys are adorable.
Awww thanks!
Agree with the larger sizes for men even a 4x or even larger women.
It's very frustrating!
Excellent video. Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!

thank you for showing us all their options!!!
It's my pleasure.
Thank you so much for this! My hubby is 6'4", and this is so helpful!! Hope you enjoyed your doughnuts! :)
Glad to help! We definitely enjoyed our doughnuts haha

Brian would love to show off different companies that make more size inclusive clothing but unfortunately, we haven't found that company yet.
My husband is definitely a minimalist when it comes to packing! There's been a few times he's refused my suggestion of at least one long sleeved shirt or a light jacket and regretted it! Brian has definitely done this before! He always says, " I have built in insulation." haha
Thanks for this video, my husband is going with me on my next trip and this will be helpful when packing his bag.
Have you tried the ebags rolling motherload backpack?
I haven’t but I’ve thought about it. However, it’s actually 10 pounds alone, according to the website, which is crazy to me
I will have to weigh mine and let you know, it doesn’t seem too heavy but I've never checked.@@ItsTheKellys
7.1 lbs according to my scale, less than my Monos hybrid.@@ItsTheKellys
I can get everything to fit but what about weight especially for Europe...I have a hard time packing under weight restrictions..
I always consider the weight limit and then never ever get weighed. So I don’t worry about it anymore. (I talked about this a lot with my last trip pack and unpack video)
Great video. Sad to say I am a checked luggage packer with a carryon also if it’s more than two weeks!
You have to start somewhere! I plan on doing more men's videos so maybe I can help you out haha
My hubby is 3X tall. He is very good at minimizing the amount of clothes he packs, but his shoes are always the problem, especially because he needs supportive shoes.
In every suitcase review, I do a shoe test with Brian’s size 13 shoes, to make sure they will fit :) it’s important!
Thought it was hilarious that the way you said he would pack his underwear was exactly what he did when he bundled up his charging cable 😂
😂😂 I know him so well
Do you have a discount for carl friedrik?
I make my boyfriend pack his own stuff but its similar to the amount that Brian brings. Probably just one more pair of jeans, because he is tough on clothing.
If he's packing light, another pair of jeans isn't too much at all.
How do people pack like this who sweat a lot. I just came back from Miami in August and I could not rewear anything!
Like your shirt
Awww thank you so much!
Can you bring on a carry on plus a backpack?
It depends on your airline that you are flying. Typically, yes, but a personal item would be a small backpack.
Wow the zipper queen back great job
But you forgot to pack his hair dryer…
Brian laughed really hard at this comment
Finally! I almost never see how a man should pack! 99% of the time the packing videos are always for women!
I plan on doing more. Brian and I have two trips in the next several months so there should be more men's packing content on my channel.
