  • This is a review of the Biaggi Zipsack Boost! Expandable Underseat Carryon. I LOVE this bag and you'll see why when you watch. If you are looking for a VERY practical, compact, underseat bag that can expand to hold more, then take a look at this video! I also review a small packing cube and two different travel makeup bags I have used for a few years now. Hope you have a great day everyone. :)

    I own this bag. I really wanted to love it for all the reasons outlined in this review. I took it on two trips last summer, one short two night business trip and an extended 10 day vacation with multiple flights and hotels. I now can unequivocally state that I hate this bag! It is one of the worst travel experiences I have had with a travel bag. It was not great on the short trip. It kept falling over, but I thought it was just because of the way I had it packed. On the longer trip, it became a standing joke of me having to drag it every where because it would not stand up. It was like the videos of the dog on a leash that takes two steps and lays down and won’t take another step. I tried packing it multiple different ways and none of them helped the situation at all. I will never use it for travel again. I think there is a version that does have a traditional metal extendable handle. It might be better, but I have moved on from this style and will not be trying it.

      I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you - I haven't had this problem. They do sell one that's a little bigger, also expandable, with an extendable handle to pull it just like any other carry on. It's the Lift Off - I'm thinking about pairing it with the Zipsack Boost just to have some extra space in a still-compact set.

      After using it on a European vacation, I couldn’t wait to donate this bag to charity. Yes, it truly expands-though it did topple over occasionally-but the biggest irritant was the handles. I don’t think my arms are abnormally short (!), but even with the handles pulled out to maximum length I found it impossible to roll the bag unless I was stooped over. 🤬

    On the subject of all those suitcases in the garage. Had a similar issue and started donating a lot to the homeless shelter down the street or will keep a couple in the trunk and hand off to a homeless person who is just carrying garbage bags. Will also throw 20 bucks into a pocket for a nice surprise. An option. Anywho, I buy luggage like some friends buy shoes and after awhile stuff gotta go for lack of use or not liking something about [i.e. wheels drag on carpet]

      We’ve done this in the past too, I live in Germany and a German friend has every year upto 20 sick children from Tschernobyl, they come here for a vacation of fresh air and fun, get checked over medically etc, normally they go back with some kinda suitcase and a school backpack that’s been donated some clothes and sweets. Unfortunately no money though, it would be taken from them at boarder control or their stressed parents drink it if you follow. Nice to see others being so kind to, 👍🏻to you Karen Henry

    What sold me was the way it stored and it being expandable. I've used it for a few domestic flights over the past year now. I'm 4'11" and I don't mind dragging the bag with me. It actually feels comfortable because I can adjust the strap just long enough for it to not feel like a leash. Yes, it can get lumpy, so I try to pack it mindfully. It really holds a lot. I really enjoy using mine.

    The reason the zipsack "falls" over is a packing issue. I have that problem at times. It means the bag is too top heavy. I ALWAYS use the included strap to pull it. Overall though, it's a great bag and fits into Frontier's personal item bin (theonly issue I have ever had with that, was a charger in the outer pocket - make sure nothing protrudes from those pockets and always put it in the bin upside down)

    There are many bags of this type available and I agree that they are wonderful. But, before making the decision that this is all you need there is one important thing you to take into account. If you are not checking on your bag, you must make sure that the total weight meets the airlines limits. It will surprise you how much your belongings weigh when you cram so much into it. Some airlines include your tablet and handbag as part of the total cabin weight. And a trap is that some also do not accept an overweight cabin bag even if you have paid for or it is included for one checked bag. And remember this when you think of bringing back purchases.

    • @CanesFan65
      @CanesFan65 Год назад

      I have never heard of a weight limit on carryon bags only Bag Size Limitations. I assumed they figured that you can only fit so much stuff in a 14x8x10 bag. But knowing how they are always looking for ways to make life miserable for travelers, it wouldn't surprise me if they do have a weight limit now....or in the near future.....knowing that people are finding ways to avoid their outrageous fees. Sooner or later.....people will need to take a STAND and fight back otherwise.......I see a time where you won't be able to take ANYTHING with you without being charged extra fees. The more "we" allow it, the more they will take.

    I have several Biaggi bags and parking cubes and I LOVE them. For the Boost line, (soft side, no trolley handle) you do have to pack for bottom up so it stays balanced, but that's easy if you use packing cubes. I travel out with the Boost bags NOT expanded and usually travel home with them expanded.
    I sometimes travel w/a small dog domestically, so I use the small Boost as my carryon and my dog's soft sided travel crate is my personal item. When I have my pup, I do have to take a check-in to accommodate her travel play-pen, food, bed, etc., (she's a senior that doesn't travel light). But that also means I have extra room in the check in and only have to take my purse, electronics, valuables, one emergency outfit and 2 days food and meds for my pup in the carry-on. I don't travel light and neither does my pup, but the Biaggi bags really work for us!

It is very useful for me as I often buy bottles of liquor and other stuffs at the duty free shop in the departure hall before heading home instead of carrying multiple plastic bags from the shops. All I have to do is dump everything in there and just store them in the overhead compartments once boarded the aircraft.

    Amazing review! I'm considering buying this but was intrigued by your comment that you are testing the version with a rigid handle (I believe that's the Lift off?). Even though you haven't posted your review, is there any major drawback to purchasing the Lift Off instead?

    • @5MinuteTravel
      @5MinuteTravel  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! Yes - I took the Lift Off to Europe for two months this summer and gave it a good workout. If you are using the Lift Off alone, and not with another bag, then for a short trip I think it's a great little piece of luggage. For a longer trip, I don't know I would bring it along again. The wheels on the bottom make it impossible to "perch" it on top of a suitcase for easy rolling, so I ended up with the suitcase handle in one hand and the Lift Off handle in the other. It wasn't convenient or easy - next time I'll bring a bag designed for this purpose. The handle has a little more "play" in it than I'd like - it wiggled around quite a lot and I often wished it were more rigid. I thought it would break part way through my trip, but it proved to be sturdy and is still working fine! I used the expandable feature and was able to bring home quite a few extra things due to this feature. Overall I think it's a good bag if you are doing a weekend away or just need a small bag. I'll be doing a full review pretty soon -

I think this bag would be great if you are checking a bag and use this as the personal item underseat. If buy souvenirs, then it can go in the overhead, since the main bag is being checked. Thanks for the review.

    After watching your show, I'm seriously thinking about purchasing this bag. A couple of questions though. 1) will it fit under the seat as a personal bag? 2) does it have a sleeve so I can carry it on handle of my rolling carry on bag? Thank you.

      Hi! 1) I have taken it on JetBlue, Southwest and Westjet and it fit under the seat well. If you are buying it for a specific airline, just make sure to check the dimensions. The bag is 16" x 15" x 9" inches when not expanded. 2) It does have a sleeve! For the summer, I'm pairing it with another Biaggi bag that has a pull up metal handle. I hope it well for you!

    Would it actually fit under seat in front, and leave room for my feet? The last time I flew from Brisbane to Adelaide, on my own. My carry on case was taken from me and put in overhead locker after everyone was seated. On arrival at Adelaide a member of staff told me it should have gone in hold with my big case. But that is what I did when coming home to UK. I don't think I would not have the strength to push that bag right under seat. I was 5 years younger in 2018. But I liked the look of the bag.

    • @5MinuteTravel
      @5MinuteTravel  Год назад

      It is designed to fit under the seat but you would need to check the dimensions for the airline you are flying. This is not a large bag but, as it has a rigid base, it may need to go in the overhead bin if you are flying in economy or a smaller plane.

      1) It's 3.85 pounds

      I don't believe it would fit if expanded. I just used it today for a train journey and it was best in the overhead rack. For a plane I think it would be too long, if expanded, to fit under the seat. It would need to be kept in the overhead bin.

The wheels would be good for long walks to meet connecting flights or on the return trip when it's heavier with items you bought at your destination. If not expanded to full size, can this be used as a PERSONAL item or are the dimensions a little too big to be considered as a personal item since most are 18x14x9? (I believe this one is 16x15x9 when it's not expanded, according to the Biaggi website, so I worry about that extra inch.) I have two criteria for an underseat bag (personal item). It must adhere to the airline size restrictions, and it must have a trolley sleeve to slip over the handle of a rolling bag. For domestic flights, my choice is the Nomad Lane Bento bag. Thoughtful compartments for laptop, tech, 3-1-1 pouch, and minimal clothing. For international flights, my choice is the AER Travel Sling 2. A great laptop bag replacement with room for a 3-1-1 pouch and tech. The trolley sleeve saves your back as needed. If I'm traveling with a rollaboard suitcase, I don't need wheels on an underseat personal item bag.

We also purchased the Biaggi tote bag with the packing cube. I haven’t decided yet but I will most likely pack that in the carryon and use it for extra purchased items as well. If we have liquids that can’t be brought in the plane I will pack them in the hard sided case and expand the under seater to a carry on if necessary. It seems to provide a lot of flexibility.

It is a bit tricky to roll when it's fully expanded and packed to the brim because you have to pack it in a way where the heaviest things are on the bottom and center to keep it upright. I typically use it as my personal item, with a hardside carryon suitcase, so if I do have more stuff to bring home, I can check the hardside, use this as a carryon, and still be able to carry another small bag as my personal item if needed.
