Planet Coaster - Jägerhorn Mountain Train (Part 3) - Precise Planning

- Welcome back to Jägerhorn! Today we're not adding much scenery, but drawing out a meticulous planning for the coaster's course, layout of paths and placement of buildings. Using terrain textures is an age-old trick that had a bit of use in RCT3, but in Planet Coaster it really shines as a way of sketching out your park without the need to build, draw, or model anything. It's just a quick, easy, and honestly pretty fun way to stay on track and prevent yourself from being out of the loop on your project.
So, that's what we're doing today. Also, more coaster building - which is a rare thing in many of my video's - so I figured that made for a good video topic!

You really need to make the queue line longer Silv, your park is really starting to be as realistic as it can be, but the queue line is way to short! Maybe you can make a building (extra scenery :D) and let the queue take the bottom floor, first floor and maybe aswell a second floor! It will help the Alpine theme youre going with to add a Apline themed building next to the coaster and increases the capacity.
Yeah, the queue's length should be quadrupled or so. I'm not sure if I would do a multistory building (I've never seen one in real life) but I would say adding a forest to the side and having the queue wind through it would be good (though was it the edge of the park?)
You're totally right! I actually did work myself into a corner with the queue, I was hoping to have it go zigzagging between the coaster more, but it ended up being too messy so I brought it over to the side quickly. I'll see what else I can do without making a mess of it, but it'll unfortunately probably require a lot of cattlepens!

+MrOobling Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise at Disneyland have multistory queue buildings. It's definitely been done before.

That is a lot of planning... Only for the coaster to not complete the layout successfully. Other than that good job!
Well you start with a base plan and work from there...

What if the queue was in a cave/brought subterranean for a section? Maybe in the basement of the station? Great to see the planning and thought put into this. Definitely one of my favorite Planet Coaster projects so far!
Your coaster and scenery featured in the Live Build and the new scenario were great. Jagerhorn meets Volvara. Very cool, can't wait to play the scenario. I think I also saw some of your work in the Summer Update commercial with fireworks added to it!

You should totally integrate your sketches in the videos! It would be interesting to see how you see the ride, and see how you translate that in-game.
And the planning is pretty cool too!
You could make another kettle section above the already existing one (14:02 - to the "north" of that one), and have the cue go back a bit further and then turn and go up the hill right there.Another way you could change it is to have the cue start more to the left, basically where the walkway bridge that goes over the second drop attaches. Just reconfigure the plaza slightly and the cue can wrong alongside the plaza and then hook into the existing kettle section.
This build is amazing. I learned quite a lot watching the 3 videos of Jagerhorn. I'm dying to see it in action.
I do agree that the queue needs to be much longer. A mine themed building for the queue would be absolutely perfect for this coaster.

VERY helpful, Sil. BTW, the only way I can see to extend the lineup is to have it bridge BACK over the track a time or two where that main bridge is now, which wouldn't be horrible really. OR else, double-deck it up and down in a building where it is now already.
This episode was actually very interesting - for some reason I enjoyed it even more than the other ones! Perhaps it's because it's very interesting and useful to see the planning process and how the layout is there before any building starts... or perhaps it's just the trains :-)

I don't know if it was thanks to my previous comment with the question for a little 'behind the scenes', but thanks Silvarret, for showing us how you plan and work on your (beautiful) creations! :D
I don't think I remember actually, but I try to make my videos as much 'behind the scenes' as possible though! Just some things I think don't work well for video's since they're hard to record for instance or don't tell much about my building process at all - but I thought this method for planning was something really worth showing off.
Well then it will be a nice coincidence. ^^
I know you try to give as much information as possible (which is wonderful!), but with 'behind the scenes', I meant like sketches or drawings. And that's exactly what you did here! :D

I have a funny coaster idea! Make a topper track coaster with iron fury trains, but make them a metallic brown, and call it copper fury. ;)
Maybe for the queue have it going through some empty train carriages? (basically rip off Lost Gravity's shipping container queue line)
Sil maybe you can make a theme park where you try to build all the bigger Dutch roller coasters. I was thinking about coasters like Troy, Joris ed Draak, Goliath, Baron and such

Remo Flury it’s in the settings under the game tab it says “disable terrain collision”.
Settings > Game > Disable Terrain Collision

Althought your coaster is doing rollback and doesn't complete the course. Back to the drawing boards.
Not anymore it does! The break run came just after the section going up, but it's now been replaced by block brakes so we're safe, thankfully. It's pulling up the last cars regardless, but at least it works.
About the queue line, why not making a fake (scenery) cattle-pen part? Like back in the ol' RCT3 days.

When creating a new path or on an already existant one (if im not wrong) click "select grid" and here you go :)

You're missing a straight piece of track next to the curve at the transfer tracks
How do I get my tracks to go flat on the terrain? Mine either float in the air or if I pull the terrain up it leaves a crease surrounding the tracks even when using flatten to foundation

You can't make a mine train coaster if it doesn't go into tunnels. By tunnels I mean the ones in Expedition Everest or Big Thunder Mountain. But that's just my opinion lol
How do you build the coaster into the hills? I can only do that with "Auto tunnel" on

How to calculate the perfect banking for your curves: tan(theta)=v^2÷r•g. use m/s for the speed and your done . pretty painful i spent 10h building one coaster with this and silvs New method (planet brocoaster). hope i was able to help you by building you perfect coaster!
