(으)려면 "If you want to" | Live Class Abridged

  • This is an abridged version of the live stream from 9-19-2021 about the grammar form (으)려면, which is a shortened version of (으)려고 하면 and is used to mean "if you want to." We also learned how this form is different from the regular ~고 싶으면 or ~고 싶다면 forms, as well as two alternative forms for (으)려면, (을/ㄹ)려면 and (을/ㄹ)라면.

    amazing class, thank you! but also please tell me something.. is it the same 라면 as in bts's fake love??? 널 위해서라면 난 슬퍼도 강한 적 할 수가 있어서... or whatever... if not what's that grammar?🥺

      No, this grammar form is (으)려면. That form is (이)라면.

    Is it only use for formal situation? Base on the sentence ending

      It depends on the rest of the verb and how it's conjugated.
