This is my favorite new skincare product for 2024 as well 🎉 thanks to your channel! 🙌🏻 I have those radiating lines from the eyes you speak of, and I thought nothing was going to help that . . . until this! Game changer! 💪🏻 I’ve had such great results with the 3 strength that I purchased the 6 during this Black Friday sale. I’m so grateful to finally find a gentle enough retinal for my sensitive skin. I’m 38 and won’t ever mess with Botox or filler, so this and red light have transformed my eye area from years of all my expressive storytelling and smiling with my eyes throughout 😷 haha. Love your channel so much. ❤
im 38 too and i agree with everything you said haha; I also am the MOST expressive person. my nickname in residency was "Dr. Face" b/c you could tell everything I was thinking based on my facial expressions. Not great for wrinkles lol oh well!
Hi Dr. Locke. Thank you for taking the time to educate and inform, and suggesting products for all budgets. Please ignore the rude and hateful comments. You will never please everyone. Just keep doing what you’re doing. I value the advice of you and Dr. Dray. Thank you so much for the continuous education. 💚❤️💙
Thanks!! Skincare is not one-size-fits all so not every product will suit everyone's skin type, budget, preferences etc. I have a lot of awesome products lined up to try in 2025!
Thank you for your video. I hate that so many people choose to be rude rather than just not purchase a product they don’t want. You have helped me a lot with your advice and you were the first to mention the peptide in Maelove (that I love by the way).
Botox and filler do work great and can give immediate results. They do come with risks though which is important to understand. I tend to challenge myself to accept natural aging as normal and not buy into the pressure from social media that women have to look unnaturally youthful to be accepted. I hope to delay these treatments as long as I can (and maybe not end up getting them at all in the future). I find that (for some people) getting these procedures at younger ages can make one become overly focused on their appearance in an unhealthy way. It's totally a personal choice but that's just where I'm at currently in my aging journey :)
I use Dr V Rattan’s eye cream it has Retinal in it. I also have used Medik8 strength 6 eye cream. I’m 48 got my first under eye line last year. I do put tretinoin on orbital bone no higher. The line is on the orbital bone.
Love this video, thanks so much for sharing. What would you recommend for the hollow look underneath the eyes? I don’t really have lines and things like that. It’s just more of that hollow look.
building new collagen can help thicken the skin so its not so hollow looking; if you have dark circles, a vit c eye serum/balm can help too! I love the ones by roc and the new one by cerave
I love Avene skincare too! I found this Medik8 eye cream this year as I was searching for an option that had multiple strengths available to suit more skin types and concerns. So I transitioned my eye cream to this one and am working up the ladder! Avene for face is INCREDIBLE - also expensive though! This year has been all about retinaldehyde for brands it seems - so many new options have come out so I've been trying a lot of different ones. So excited to share some thoughts on budget retinal face serums early next year!
@@TheBudgetDermatologist Thanks for the explanation. I used Avene Retinal 0.1% for about a year and then moved up to prescription Tretinoin 0.025% about 10 months ago, using it 5-6 days per week. If I want to switch to Medik8, would the Retinal 6 be a good choice?
@@royayaz great question- check the medik8 site b/c I believe they have advice about this particular situation (switching from brands to medik8 and what strength to start with); I tend to start lower and build within a brand though
Hi Dr, i’ve been using the rock retinol, correction line, soothing eye cream and I love it. I am over 60 in my eyes handle it just perfectly if I’m almost out of it if I were to get the one you’re talking about which strengths would I start with the middle one?
great question - there's actually advice about this on the medik8 website where they recommend where to start if you are switching brands. For me, I always defer to lowest strength though and build within that brand!
Medik8 is not a "budget" option, it can cost all the way to $135 for 30 ml! I would expect a more budget-friendly option from The "Budget" Dermatologist 🤨
Right now these eye creams are between $37 and $58 depending on strength. Beauty of Joseon has a retinal eye product and I think I paid about $11 for it.
@LisaNix2 I have that one! I was shocked how good it is. Heard about it from Dr. Dray. She said you could use it all over the face but I just prefer it under the eyes.
The eye cream is the product featured in this video! It's $37 right now. I mentioned 3 reasons in this video that it is worth $37 compared to other eye creams that are priced less, I hope that helps clarify! As for face serums, I mentioned Maelove is an incredible budget-friendly serum and yes they are on sale now too :)
Hello from italy! I really like your channel! As not availble in Italy, can you give me the name of a cream/balm like the CITY BEAUTY body blam? It contains niacinamide and i really want to i improve my creepy décolleté 😢! Thank you♡♡
A lot of derms who have skincare videos have said they will pat dry their face (not rub but pat to stop the drips) and then apply serums/moisturizer to still damp skin. Retinoids they apply to dry skin.
I've noticed more anti-aging benefits than dark circles, I like vitamin C eye serums for dark circles. CeraVe just launched a new one this year that I really like. I also like the Vit C eye balm by Roc!
medik8 is a bit pricier b/c of the reasons I explained in this video. I love this product but do realize some need a product at a lower budget than this. my recommendation is to still use a retinal eye product, several great recommendations came through in the comments here for retinal eye creams that others are using!
@@TheBudgetDermatologisttrue! My friend had it approved by insurance and loves her post surgery results! Thanks for all your hard work with these posts. Very helpful 😊
if you like what you are using, dont change! this is just what I've found and love the most this year in case anyone is looking for an awesome eye cream to try. with that said, you cannot really compare strengths of this active between brands b/c sometimes they make the percentage in a complex etc etc and is not very easy to decipher how the percentages between brands compare
No “budget friendly” products anymore in your channel!!! I know you mentioned Maelove one, buy when I followed you I thought you will talk about ONLY budget friendly products… not HIGH ENDS
you can find "when to spend and when to save" (my tagline lol) product reviews on my channel! Retinal products are my #1 most important skincare ingredient in my anti-aging routine so they get the most attention from my skincare routine budget - I will splurge on the best ones I can find (if they are worth it!) and then save money on cleansers, moisturizers etc. You can get great cleansers for $8, great moisturizers for $15 and those are the ones I focus on! Skincare isn't one size fits all! I have lots of new product reviews coming up in 2025 so I hope you find something that resonates with you :)
I'm sorry but I have to call this out. You just compared Maelove to a beginner yet the strength is the same as Medik8 Advanced. Is this video sponsored by Medik8?
Hi! The point I am making here is that maelove moonlight serum could be a great place to start on your retinaldehyde journey and from there you can increase beyond that if you need to as medik8 has strengths higher than maelove offers. And no this isn't sponsored - this product was my own find this year! :)

Can you do a deep dive on dark circles please 🙏🏼
good idea!
I just bought 2! Thank you.
hope you love it!

thanks!!

I use tretinoin but not near eyes, was looking for a new eye cream when my Roc is almost gone. Will try it and see.

What is best for sagging skin and drooping eye lids? Thank you.
An upper blepharoplasty.

Dr. Locke, you used to recommend Avene Reitnal for both face and eye. So, is Medik8 better than the Avene ones? Thanks.

.11% encapsulated retinal
yes it is great for anti-aging. maelove makes great serums for most skin concerns. also make a great vit c serum, and peptide serum!

Does Medic8 include free ship?
Fun fact: Enprani the Korean brand invented the retinal and when the patent expired, Medik8 was the first to introduce it in the world

thats tough! if it obstructs your vision sometimes you can qualify for surgical repair
