Nothing sounds as cool as the old detroits. The sound and smell are unmistakable. They bring back sweet memories of being on the road with Dad when I was young.
Seeing two young men in old Ford especially one with a 2 stroke makes me proud! Most youngsters I see have a riced out civic withe the tires cambered out.
I absolutely love my 96 F-150 with the 300 i6 and the 5 speed manual, and I'm only 20. I don't like cars, but love trucks. I plan on having an old dodge power wagon with a Detroit in it.
If he thought that was revved up, he's led a sheltered life. That engine was designed to SCREAM! I hate hearing it lug, hope you still have this truck, I'd kill to have one like it.
That red button wasnt an aux. He had his jake hooked up to it. and even an aux. amount to enough unless he put a MUCH taller set of gears in the rear end and used the aux. for the low side. Either way at the end of the day, its still a ford, an its not a cat...aint much but is what it is lol
I really enjoyed this video. It took me back 15 years ago when I was able cruise around with friends. After you turn 30 and have kids things just change. Awesome video and awesome truck.
Source Grodie IKR? He keeps saying “ oh that whistle tho, from far this sounds like a ricer, you turn your jakes on for fun huh?, that lady looked at me like...”, bro stop already, he’s busy driving.
Two smells I love in this world. Diesel and 2-Stroke. Listen to that 2-stroke free wheel. I wouldn't mind swapping my 5.9L Cummins with that Detroit 2-stroker.
Joe John the only place I know you can get a full 453t engine remade is us diesel remanufacturing llc. We got our engine from them but it costs 12,300 unfortunately, but they make it brand new and it’s top quality, same sound tho. I wanted to get jakes installed but I can’t find any.
A good freiend of mine put a 353 Jimmy in his 1968 Ford pickup with a 5 speed. Top speed was only 65 mph but he could pull his 26 ft. vacation trailer over Snoqualmie Pass in direct drive. He got 26 mpg with it too. I drove it and it wasn't gutless.
Just found this video again after watching it 4-5yrs ago, still gives me goosebumps hearing this thing… Still have my 93’ K2500 from High School, hoping one day to pull the 6.5L and do this exact swap. Oh, And Hope you still have this truck!!!
can't beat the Detroit for sound. but you can't beat the cummins for power. this engine stock will only generate 180-200 HP max. its definitely a awesome job done though. im also glad to see him build a FORD
6v53t is the one to get honestly, such a narrow power band on these engines it is hard to tow over 5t without a 10spd. 6v53t makes about 30% more power and torque, and is a 6cly so better for boost
Gotta love the 2 stroke Detroit’s. No power, but they’re fun to drive. I use to run a tomato hauler with an 8v53 and it’s was a blast until pulling the grades lol. Don’t ever sell that truck, it’s way too damn cool.
I love the evil sound of this truck... Id love to have one like it .. I can just imagine how quickly I would piss off my neighborhood just putting out with it.... 😂
It's the perfect teenager vehicle.. loud so you always know when they are leaving or getting home, good sounding and is fun to drive, but not fast enough to really break the speed limit or kill yourself with. (unless you rolled it)
Here is a trick when running stop light to stop light .. throttle up till she gets the Rapp sound ( 2 cycle diesels do that) then slip clutch in say third then dump off clutch... then stand on it!!!! sit back and hold on!!! 17 year truck driver long haul exp.. got to love 2 cycle Detroit's!!!
In other words just do a third gear boost launch and completely smoke the clutch right out of Er! Lol not a good idea. The clutch for this is probably really expensive to replace
@@strawberryroan1941 the fact your rig has lasted that many miles must mean you're really good at shifting properly! Yes I'm bored driving anything with an automatic

But like your buddy in the video said, I really like the turbo whistle of the 4-53T. Btw, what size turbo did you use?? It seems like a good fit for that motor.
Peachezz131 its actually out of a big crane lol. nice! its just the stock airesearch to4 turbo. its alright but hard to build boost in a 2 stroke. it clears up the some nicely. im going to experiment with water meth injection and different turbos in the future but for now I cant hurt it with this setup

2:05 lugging the hell out of that 2 stroke.

2 stroke Detroit and metallica. Great combination. Truck is great man, needs a new passenger tho.
