If I ever looked that cool in my life, I hope someone got a picture.
Lmao that’s good one..
The most calming video of one of the loudest trucks imaginable..
I bet you are cool, Bryan. No pics required.
I looked that cool once but no one was around to see it. If a tree looks cool in the forest...
Q mostró perro
The sound of this truck brings back childhood memories of when I was growing up in Africa in the late 80s early 90s. Everyday around 5.30pm there was a truck we could hear from the main road which was about 4 miles away. Sounded exactly like this one. Always brought a smile on my face.
Mangwanani / ndiMatsheloni Tafadzwa. Same story a couple of years back on Cedar Rd. Near Chartwell, Johannesburg, except at around 05:30. Never needed an alarm clock! It was a 8T71T powered Peterbilt horse pulling a brick trailer.
Nice
I have the same memory of trucks passing outside my apt building I grew up in in Jersey lol 1000's a day though
what a wholesome memory, hopefully that truck driver knew how much he made your day!
lets Visit Africa dude.. i never been there but i am ready
I'm not a truck driver, but I just love the sound of these trucks!
If I haven't had the aim to become a professional classical musician, I would've loved to become either a pilot or a bus/truck driver. I really love driving, especially on the road.
Thank you very much, you made me cry, but it was very good, you reminded me of my father, my father was a truck driver, today he is driving his truck in the clouds.... God bless you.
What was his handle (cb name)
@@sandasturner9529 José Carlos.
Some days I think I'm pretty good just driving a car, then I see guys like this working their rigs like it's nothing. I strive for this level of chill while driving.
Just drive for 10 hours a day for the next 20 years and you'll bet there.
Drive the same truck all day everyday and it doesnt take long. Trucks are all similar, but you gotta learn the quirks of every one
One stick is just a switch for high and low. Fake
@@chrispor926 High/low is on the dash. The second stick is the splitter.
@@MyMarkn thanks for confirming how pathetic this video is.
There's no better sound in the world than down shifting with the Jakes on. How this guy keeps a straight face during Ill never know 🤣 I'd be peeing on myself with excitement
ive done it once or twice, and i did in fact piss my pants. its fun
*:D*
True
Hahaha
Same same!! Little stiffy.
My grandfather taught me how to drive semi truck at 13, but I didn't get into until my 20s. He had a twin stick, and NOW I finally understand how it worked. Donated liver back in 2009 caused he got Cirrhosis, he's alive and well still 11 years later. Badass truck, badass driver, and a whole lot of power in that Detroit!
sorry im sure hes a great guy but how tf is he alive and well if he donated his *liver* 11 years ago?
@@phatkumquat842 I was the one who donated liver to him! 💚
@@TrickyMickTrucking But you cannot still be alive without your liver my friend
@@phatkumquat842 You donate one lobe and they both halves grow back to 99% full size!!!!
@@TrickyMickTrucking Wow!!!!! Peace be on you my friend, a true hero
How cool, calm & collected was this guy? Talk about being good at your job. This guy is a bitumen legend.
I would say this gentleman has mastered the manual gearbox adequately. My hats off to you sir, a superb performance, indeed!
This is not a twin stick transmission. It’s a regular 13 speed. The stick on the passenger side is a air kit.
@@jameswalker8706
Air kit?
@@skylined5534 yup. Stick closest to driver is the main. The stick closest to the dash is the air kit for the splitter aka “red button” on the 13 speed.
@@jameswalker8706 So he can just put a switch in and it'll do the same thing? LOL
@@TurboBMRProjectLove Just a Hi/Lo but it sure does look cool doesn't it? Lol
How can you have the Jake on sounding like that and not have a smile on your face? I'd be grinning like an idiot
It get annoying after a while. I put double mufflers on my truck you can't hear it it's sooooooooooooooo fucking nice
@@n815541 I mean I guess everyday for years or something. But idk I'm a bit of a child at heart so idk if I'd get annoyed. But I can't say for sure one way or another
@@johnj4233 10+ hrs a day...gets old quick have 8 inch stack on mine and trust me ...there are day you would kill for some peace and quiet
What do the switches do, change the sound somehow?
@@Dubya9W9 it puts you to bed and wake you up..that all I hear when people talking to me...BBRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr boooo bo bo🤦
To anyone who doesn’t know, most drivers are not this smooth and nice to the truck. This guy is a pro and knows what he’s doing
hands down best sounding truck ive personally ever heard. holy crap man, ecstasy.
This is when man and machine become one ole girl sounds good
So much win in one video. You'll be able to tell your grandkids that, that was the sound of Freedom!
Freedom? We are all slaves with different roles
Trucking is one of the least freedom jobs you can have! Regulations, laws, trackers, brokers, etc. Etc. Etc. Drive time, reset time, all your time is controlled, watched and monitored not to mention gps tracking, fleet trackers.
@@scottmargerison Truth.
I mean our iPhone or Droid does the same thing anyways. Just most people don’t realize it yet
@@scottmargerison you must be fun at parties
I love the sound of the jake brake. It's my favourite sound and then the turbo whistle wow beautiful
Awesome, shifting without touching the clutch… and those pipes… heaven!
The switch is on the dash is his range selector Low-Hi and the second stick is the splitter.
That’s how it looks
I literally just posted the same, thanks for being able to spot what’s really going on here! Fake ass twin stick!
Not really impressed now that I understand.
Tell him try this ruclips.net/video/43te0JXoKpg/видео.html
English isn’t my first language can you explain to me what the difference between the meaning of splitter and high/low range switch ist?
I always thought it means the same thing in English, shifting between the two ranges of the „secondary gearbox“?
But that cannot be the case now that I hear he uses two different motions for doing what I thought to be the same thing.
I could watch this all day, it’s like trucking art or something. He just glides along.
Watch someone shift a five and four. Your head will pop.
@@stevenkretschmer6634 make that a 6x4. i want to get my hands behind the wheel of one of those bad larrys
Trucker shit only truck drivers understand I can watch this for hours aswell but too bad I can’t drive stick I have to learn but I’m scared to hop out there smh
A master of his craft
@@joeyporter3356just do it man. It’s honestly so much fun. 13 speed and 18 speeds are a blast. I’d advise learning to drive a 5 speed car before you try one tho. Then you’ll have to learn double clutching, then floating
Hearing Jake brakes pay off never gets old plus that's a nice truck and good driving
I just...LOVE IT! The smoothness of this transmission, suggests that it's been taking good care of.
I could sleep all night listening to this , nothing like a good ole Detroit
100%
That's not a Detroit. Sounds like a Cat 3406.
@@CS_247 definitely a series 60 detroit 100٪
To me a Detroit is a two stroke they drove you batty either too loud or sound like they are really buzzing..
@@mikeskidmore6754 Detroit is an engine brand. Their 2 strokes became famous for their sound but the 60 series was a big name for Detroit as well in heavy haul/special equipment. Detroit still makes engines to this day though I don’t know if they’ve been bought out or not. Seems like their modern engines aren’t anything to brag about

Thanks for all your videos, they are so relaxing.
Now that's a good theft prevention right there.
That's the beauty of a professional driver. They make it look so easy... Like anyone could do it. Great job driver.
Looks slick to the uninitiated but the second stick is just a splitter and unless that truck is fully freighted which I’d say it is t that’s at lot of stick shifting for effect, as a demo can’t fault it looking good brother
That's because it is easy with a fake gearshift
10 speed transmission. Splitter is his " 2nd stick". I drive a 10 speed freightliner. Nice fake.
@@roadrocket7770 It's a 13 bud.
@@roadrocket7770 its a 13 with a whole 4 foot stick for the thumb splitter... he didnt touch that shit till he was in 5th.... the pulling it out of gear and putting it back in for the splits is just to make it look complicated to people who dont know....
The way u put the gears and the way the engine brake sounds I love it
As a Bicycle Rider i normally dont like loud noises, but this truck sounds great. And that Interieur looks awesome!
Love the sound of those pipes ... very smooth shifting
This is an art form and it is incredible to watch.
It is?
You should find a video with someone running a 4X6 Spicer. That guy had a thirteen speed. About as difficult shift as a 5 speed car.
@@kirkjones9639 Yeah I was thinking the same thing as well. Appears to be a standard Eaton 13 spd with a dash mounted range selector, with the second stick connected to the splitter. He's taken all the functionality of a standard Eaton shift knob and spread them around the truck to make it look like he's doing more than he is. Wayyy over complicated and no additional skill required if you ask me.
@@liamfogle8367 There is no benefit to it either.
My very first log truck was a twin stick! Hauling out of the woods was awesome 😎
Respect the truckers working for us. Thank you.
Pleasure to watch and listen, capable professional drivers like that seem to be scarce today. Thanks for posting.
Had a big kid smile on my face the whole time watching this, good stuff driver

It's detroit 60 series tho
A cat ain’t that loud that’s a Detroit all day everyday

Guys I dont think he was talking about the truck
Or y'all are in on the joke too
They've gotta be man.
Man, this makes me miss my Classic XL. I'll own another here shortly. Love my Detroits and Freightshakers.
Wow this bring back memories when my dad used to take me on his trips back in the late 90s
This rig is putty in this man's hands. A pleasure to watch, and more to listen to. So gentle on the vehicle.
Extraordinary sound !! a pure beast ! i wish i can have such a sound on my truck in Switzerland.....
Love that Detroit symphony. Used to run Detroit powered Log Broncs and twin shaft work boats in WA. Nothing like a Detroit wide open on the water!!! Pure ‘Murica!!
This video reminds me of my late father and my uncle Marshal. Those 2 together had about 100 years of driving between them. I tried so hard to learn that shift pattern. I used to have video on film of my dad shifting gears going through mountain passes up in Colorado and Montana. My dad started driving in the late 60’s and my uncle in the 50’s. They were mine and my cousins hero’s. Thank you sharing this video.
Just curious. Did you learn the shift pattern ?
Wow them twin sticks brings back a lot of fun memories I have five and four have fun driver
Love that wheel... I had a set of clubs in my 87 Pete.. great stuff...safe ridin, bro.
Awesome! That sound is what is so addictive...
What a badass looking interior.

I can’t even drive a manual myself and I keep coming back and watching this video because it’s so satisfying to me
Very few Detroits left at work. Im a mechanic and love bringing them in the shop and going to park them. Sound like a untamed beast!

Something unconscious as it "grunts"! 😍 And those shift arms are pretty sick. It's a wonderful machine!

Soooo smooth.....you the man ... Love it .....
Music to my ears sorta miss the road did it for some 30 years. Very nice video
Reminds me of my dad when he drove truck....when I rode with him I felt like the coolest kid it thr world. I looked up to him. Now as a diesel rebuild mechanic, Detroit's are my favorite....🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bud we grow up the same then! When I was little I rode with my dad too! He had a 389 with series 60 12.7. Now I'm diesel mechanic rebuilding engines. Funny how it is.
I’m 58,started 5and 4s when I was 14 on the farm. Still trucking in a 79 Kenworth with Spicer,3406 Cat and camel back suspension. Can’t hear the radio, but love the dual straights rapping on the Jake behind the day cab.
Great video, I always wanted to drive a Big Rig just wasn't meant to be, I love the sound of a rig going through the gears.
Floating up, down, Jake or no Jake. You know your shit bro. All just part of the game. And those stacks with the Jake! Sweet!
There is not a slightest chance the driver driving this thing will ever fall asleep.....😂
I was thinking the same thing.
Man, get up on the freeway those stacks just sing you right to sleep.
@@andrewsenn89 I was thinking the same thing.....its DEFINITELY more than possible if you are even slightly tired
You not shifting a whole lot on the freeway and the drone will get you like a loud fan in the bedroom.
From experience, (I learned my lesson) yes, you can fall asleep with twin sticks on the highway.
I'm a driver myself...been drivin 26 yrs, since I was 15..I'm no rookie. My first rig I ever drove was a Mack. My uncle was a logger and he put me in the driver seat at 15 on the red dirt roads. Taught myself how to float the gears. Now I'm 50. I've been driving rigs longer than 26 yrs but didn't start to get serious about it until I was 26 or 27. Went into the army drove rigs there (88 mike). I trained most of my squad...you know newbies E- nothins all the way up to buck privates and E'4's. Drove fuel tankers mostly. Also was 82nd airborne paratrooper. Served in 9/11 Afghanistan. When I got out that's when I decided to get my CDL. And have loved it since. My wife loves it to. I've been with my beautiful wife since 90', since she was 15, we've got 2 awesome boys. And I told them I don't want to ever hear about them driving no rig. They are to smart for that I want the best for my boys. They are too good for that. I'm a proud dad and can die a happy man
thanks for your story mister H, that sounds like a well seasoned career! all the best for you and your family 👍

Beautiful just beautiful sounds
Yes
i spent a lot of my childhood on a farm around Johannesburg. the house itself was about half a kilometre from the road, which was one of the busier roads since it leads directly into Vereeniging. anyway, i have many memories of trucks that sound exactly like this blasting by at all hours of the night. i now live in a relatively rural part of Mexico, right by the only road connecting the two largest cities in the region. my house is very close to the road, and at night you’ll hear a truck with busted ass mufflers going down the hill every five minutes. it’s startling, but happy memories of childhood
From the sound, to the purple bandanas, to the serious level of skill and chill this guy has. Amazing. Could watch this over and over again.
I'd like to say I miss doing that, but I had a good time while I was driving truck and I'm having a good time now that I don't drive truck and I'm enjoying my retirement. Good work sir
Engine break makes my day and makes my 89 Pete sound cute
Admire this man at the controls he is very good at what he does ...all that sound and working the gears would drive me crazy doing that 12 hour a day 5 days a week. you could not pay me enough to do what he does!
It becomes second nature like anything else just learning to master it is the hard part.
Good drive bro , thanx for the ride.
Now that is a man who knows his transmission(s), up the box and down, just love the way he uses the Jake through the split to gradually slow it down.
Art, sir, is what it is. Beautiful.
Love the set up clean!!!!
I thought it was going to be a two stroke, not a 60 series until I heard it running.Sounds very good especially with the Jake Brake.
I love the synergy between man and machine reflected in the sounds the truck makes. And a stick shift is paramount to this synergy.
Great job on the twin sticks Mr Driver.
I learned on a old B model Mack Thermo Dyne with twin sticks. Hated that truck while I was driving her. 40 years latter, I miss that old girl. She wasn't the "bell of the ball" anymore, but she'd work herself to death everyday.
