When this was on the tubes, I must have watched it a million times.:) It inspired me to buy a 4-53T and swap it into my 2009 F350.:) ruclips.net/video/TQ2OSVeEjSo/видео.html
😊 Love the sound of the 2 stroke. But I'm envious watching the 2 stick shifting. Started driving a semi in 1980. Never had the chance to drive a 2 stick. Only drove 1 2 stroke a few times. That was a 6v71, I think.
Be interesting to know if it will travel at 65 or it still doesn't have enough gears. An old H pattern Clark trans, or sevetal other 5 speeds, with that brownie would give double overdrive making it possible to drive faster. Many times the rear axle gears are too low as well. 3.23 would be good but 2.78 would be better for that.
Sadly no. But now that you said it, I wish I could've seen that one...😓 I do have two of a Ford F250 powered by a 4-53, but that one can still be found on RUclips. Let me find the links. EDIT: found it. ruclips.net/video/Z_tM7yz5_PA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/uZWgrTde348/видео.html

WHY. Just WHY. A 4-53-ya might have a whopping 175 HP. At 3000RPM. Maybe 400ft. lb of torque at the same time. Powerband about as wide as a 1977 YZ125 Yamaha. One must love to shift it-only way to get down or over the road. Old school-but somethings are best left to History. My 2 cents anyway.
Why? I bet it gets 30 mpg. If he changes the oil regularly that engine will last longer than the truck body. It might be effort to shift but good things take effort and 30 mpg in a 4500 pound vehicle is good. That engine isn't made to rev up to 3k either.
@@crazyoilfieldmechanic3195 30 MPG ? Don't think so pal-Jimmy diesels weren't known for economy. And the governor setting is between 2800 & 3200 RPM-That's where 2 cycle Detroits make their power.

Awesome to see you here, lad!
I've been following your channel for a while now, wish more people had the courage to do more builds like yours! 👏🏻😎
That was a good swap.
I remember this from way back, thought it was gone forever, thank you for the upload! 👍
I downloaded it this time!!! Ya its been a while and i looked for this video.
Just love the 2 stroke Jimmy they sound great! great job shifting!
A mini screamin jimmy. If you know , you know
Mint Buddy. I have this downloaded on a zip drive too from like 10 years. This was one of the first vids I ever seen with a 453 in a 1/2 ton.
😊glad to see this truck back on RUclips.
Thanks for a great video. I hope we see more of that truck maybe pulling a load on the highway?👍❤
So glad someone decided to save this video. It is inspiration for a 1980's 3/4 ton Dodge gasser I hope to build one day.
this was cruising when i was 8yrs old cool, engine sound great through the camera

Not bad pawpaw with the one handed ....my grandfather used to call that jumping herduls 👍👍👍👍
To shift two sticks, you have to get engine RPM exactly right for the vehicle speed, or you will severely grind the gears in both transmissions.
Nice linkage work!
Cheers!
I took a Diesel mechanics class at a trade school around 1980. Looks like the one a guy built there.
The sound is totally addictive 👍
Sounds badass
I am going to try to share it with some folks. 🙏
Fascinating. I did not know about 2-stroke diesels. You should show us more.
Look up the 12v71 🤓

Have to say even if it didn't have the Detroit that truck is interesting due to it's clean body. 👍

When I was watching it I was thinking I saw this truck somewhere before. What did you use for transmissions?
❤❤❤tuve una igual pero me la robaron😢 esta muy bella❤❤❤
That muffler makes it sound like a boat.
Nice setup!
Besides the 2 batteries it looks like it was factory made.
Great build👍
That is very cool
Super sweet!
Do you have another one or two of a white Dodge power wagon from the late 70s with a 6V53 sticking thru the hood? I can't find that one anymore.

I don't know, but a user commented the main transmission may be a Dana (Spicer) along with a Brownie Hi-Lo (Brown Lipe Aux).
What transmission is that?
Good question, I have no idea. 😓
