    Hey quick question besides from my other comment when u take the belt off and them crank gears move how do I know if it’s still in time or not

    • @NedacSnosrap
      @NedacSnosrap  10 месяцев назад

      If cam gears flop to one side, just correct it by using the dot/mark on the cam gear and the dot on the rear timing cover to get it back in its general area. Those markings are not meant to be exact tdc reference, but to help align your cams to a sitting/resting position to time it.

    Great content, so much easier doing the timing belt job with engine out of the chassis. Every time I’ve done it is with engine in car.

      I did it in car one time and I absolutely do not want to again😅 the z is so low I stretch my knees/back out.

    With the crank pulley tool did it come with the bolts that fit if not what size

    • @NedacSnosrap
      @NedacSnosrap  4 месяца назад

      The tool did, but they were not nearly long enough.
      Its the same thread pitch as about any of the 10mm bolts on the z32. Any 10mm holding an engine bay bracket or power steering will work to take to the store or use a thread gauge on.
      Id get them around 2.5-3 inches and grab a few washers because sometimes it takes alot of force to get it off and will bend the washers.

    I am trying to buy a 300zx and it is unkown if it had the 120k maintenance done to it. Is there any tell tale sign that I could find to see if it has had it?

    • @NedacSnosrap

      Service stickers, carfax records, or paperwork/proof from previous owners.

    Hey bro im doing the timming belt on my 300zx tt do the dimples on the rear timming belt cover. Is it true the timming belt marks on the intake and exhaust sprockets have to line up perfectly with the simples on timming belt rear cover i tried but no matter how much i move and align marks when i install new timming bret its of by like 1 tooth on both cam sprockets

    • @NedacSnosrap
      @NedacSnosrap  21 день назад +1

      Count teeth between timing belt marks first thing. 24-45-24-59
      Timing backing plate dots are reference points to set cam gears to TDC.
      Belt tooth count is what you're after. If they're correct, timing marks are irrelevant as long as it is times appropriately between cams.

    Wat would happen if you spin ur crank without the belt on? Could I just go back to top dead center ?

    • @NedacSnosrap
      @NedacSnosrap  8 месяцев назад

      As long as the cams are in a resting position and the valves are not open, yes. You'll just realign when going to time.
      Passenger side cams are the ones with valves open at tdc so just flop them over.
      Also put a long extension in cyl 1 plug hole to verify you're at TDC when you set it back up via the crank sprocket timing mark.

      Engine oil, none specifically just what I usually have. From 5w20-10w30-20w50, just something to lubricate the surface 🙂

    • @NedacSnosrap
      @NedacSnosrap  Год назад

      Pulling engine or leaving in car? Only difference i can recall is the protol for removing the crank bolt. I always chalk 2 of my tires front and back when removing the crank pulley vs putting it in 5th and chalking 1. You also have oil cooler lines for the trans going to the lower part of the radiator.
      Other than that about everything is straight forward.

      @@NedacSnosrap Me and my dad ended up figuring it out. We used a breaker bar on the crank bolt like normal but just wedged a bar to stop the pulley’s from turning.
