Nicely done Rahee! Funny enough I just did my timing belt change yesterday but still watch your video to ensure I haven't missed anything. I upgraded to the UD crank pulley and she drives amazing now :) I plan to replace the header next. Hope you can make a video on that! Cheers
umm you didnt do the crankshaft seal...I drilled out and tapped two holes on the front of the sprocket and used a puller to get it off. But going through all that trouble and not replacing that seal is dumb.
I used a paint can opener to get the seals out. The end of the paint can opener has a small hook at the end. This hook catches the back of the seal and it allows you to pull the seal out. I will try to upload a video showing you how it works.
WRONG! The outer perimeter surface of a seal is to be dry as well as it's mating surface of the hole that it is pressed into, only the center hole that makes contact with the camshaft is to be lubed. It is the dry surfaces that create the friction needed to hold the seal in it's hole. That is why you had to pry hard to remove them. You pressed them in easily with your thumbs, there should have been resistance that required them to be tapped in.
i am doing the 120,000 mile service and I do not have the plenum off to be able to hold the crank in place. what do you recommend to use to hold the crank in place. I have a 5 speed manual.

Should have changed the upper and lower timing belt idler pulley pulley studs. they are known to fail.

Thank you for the comment.
Did you skip the front main seal? I had to do that as well, no way to get it off
did you get it off?

I wish you could work on my 300zx,
Sounds like you live next to a race track!
Very helpful
no need for rtv on the thermostat, besides you don't want that floating in the coolant
You do RTV the thermostat. It's done at the factory and it says it in the docs with aftermarket thermostats.
