- An idea I was itching to try. Taking the design essence of a rex style collet then adding claws to the outside like a gate collet is made. I tapered the claws down to help show off the gaps either side which also allows more light to the stone. It works well I believe.

Great job!
Ahhhhhh you have a groove in the half round pliers for the "rainbowing" thats why mine keeps slipping out... OK gonna file a groove into my spare half rounds :)
Thanks a lot, you are great!
Love the experimentation. 🎉
a thing that I do when making similar designs: our pegs sometimes become a hindrance so I have wooden dowel that slots in where a lot of people slot their mandrel in, that also means I can use a negative shape of my collets so I can get them really delicate and takes some of the pain out of the fingertips. this is almost a protea collet,
Beautiful! So after all that work, do you think you would make this collet design again?
Yes! Im planning to practice a 3 stone version
How would you go about making a long cone for a bead cap?
Would you use a template and sheet and a swage block?
