Taking the Auction Biohazard Civic Hatch Through Inspection - Will it Pass? (Part 4)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 22 июл 2024
- While at an auto auction, I came across this 1997 Honda Civic EK Hatchback. This was categorized as a biohazard with no key. I saw it and decided to roll the dice and buy it without knowing the condition of the engine and transmission. I grew up wrenching on these old Honda EK Hatch's so this one felt special to me and I wanted to save it. Stay tuned to find out if it actually runs!

Where do you live ?? Is this in Canada or the U.S.
You could also use CR-V cluster
Put a new hood in and it looks brand new, no one would ever believe that the car used to be a biohazard vehicle
I wish my mom's rust bucket crv from up North would run again
Put in the work and it will

I wonder if you can reconnect with the first owner or previous to show them the Civic is safe and is back on the road! Very good series btw keep it up :D
Yess that would be amazing
If the previous owner is a honda/youtube fanatic, then chances are they will see this, but since this car looks bone stock and the owner didnt buy it back from the insurance company tell me that the previous owner does not appreciate this car.
What…? The owners didn’t appreciate it? The precious appreciate it enough for him to find it in near stock perfect conditions.
@@PeaceManBroMaybe money reasons or other reasons... But us the guy below said the car is literally in perfect condition. It was stolen Wich is why the body looks a bit fucked up from
I grew up with this gen Civic too and would like to get one again. If I get a vote, it would be to go "OEM plus" with this. Do that EX or SI cluster, the nicer Honda wheels, a 'better than stock' exhaust, etc. Great video - liked and subscribed ;)
It has so much character, so much personality for such a simple car. If you're gonna mod it, definitely go OEM + but keep the original parts, nothing beats the stock civic feel. You gotta name the thing!
I love this ek9 super clean. For something that has been not driven so long. They literally don’t make cars like this anymore.
This answered a lot of questions i had on buying from auctions. Thanks for the video. Loving the series!
I'm glad it helped - appreciate it!
I work for Honda. My first car I bought at age 18 was a 1999 civic ex coupe. (Automatic) great little car that got me around for a year. It was white and had a sunroof. Bought it for $1200 had 162k on it when I got it. They don’t make them like they use to I promise you that. I actually just drive Toyotas now.
I just keep driving my 99 Accord!
Love this car, as a mini cooper S (2011) owner I can tell this must be blast to drive. I can't wait for future video's, and hope you keep it! I always wanted a 90's civic.
I'm in love with civic series keep it up!
“1, 2, 3, 4, 5!” The manual transmission makes an unsporty car feel sportier! Very cool. And the simplicity. That’s what’s really nice about this car.
I'm really loving this civic series
This is by far my favorite small RUclips channel. Hope you make it big!
Loving this series. Congrats on getting through the VIN inspection. Really enjoyed "riding" with you as you took us for a spin. Talking about the lack of a tachometer, of my first four cars, only the second had a tac, and I had to drive by feel. I didn't have power steering in any of those either. Really only needed it for my trucks. My first four were a 79 Ford Fiesta, a Nissan 310 (I think it was an 83), an 84 Ford Escort, and then a 94 Nissan Sentra. Then I began getting lower mileage and better cars. But watching you drive this little Honda, brought me back to the Nissan. Growing up in New Jersey, the inspection station brought back memories.
By the way, I only drive stick shift. Thanks again for these videos. Looking forward to more Civic content. God Bless.
I'm in love with this civic series ... it's been great to watch you go through those corners . It must be a really nice experience to drive that around as a daily driver.I would love to have a civic from those years in that good condition ... please keep it stock, it has a lot of character ... great vid mate !
Thank you bro - really appreciate it!
Yoooooo, I need a civic! Seeing this happy little car being driven was wonderful! I drive a 2005 mk6 Ford Fiesta that I love but now I know I need a civic as my second car one day!
Thanks for walking through the whole process, very informative!
This has to be the most entertaining series I've seen in a while!
This is the best series I've ever watched!
This is very valuable information. I'm not sure if the state I live in has this strict of a VIN inspection, but absolutely worth knowing what to expect if I need to go through this process.
Awesome car! It's the Fit before there was a Fit. I love that 90's Honda interior too.
Yo, I just discovered your channel from a RUclips short. Can’t wait to see what you got.
Very informative and interesting. Loving this series!
because of these few videos of you about the civic, now im on a look for one❤
Hope you find one 💙
10:56 My grandpa taught me to drive stick in an EK EX 5spd Civic on those same stretches of road in Innis Arden and around the south end of the Richmond Highlands, your POV view game me a little bit of Dejavu
"Auction Biohazard Civic Hatch" - wow, that's a mouthful. Love your civic series btw
it really is lmao - thank you 🙏
From my experience of retitling a car, it can also vary by state, and even further by county. I had to bring mine to a licensed shop to perform an enhanced inspection, and make sure that the car was essentially factory spec. I'm sure they did several of the things you mentioned (VIN cross referencing, checking my receipts for parts and work verification), but I didn't have to go to a police station or wait in any kind of line for my county in Pennsylvania.
I will agree with what you were saying about the process otherwise, and found it quite interesting that other places do retitling differently.
The feel of a old sweet ride which is a manual no electronic steering and just going and taking turns where you like
Very cool series on this Honda. One thing to consider is to do an LED upgrade on one of those extra instrument clusters you have!
I have had a lot of cars including Bemmers, Mercedes etc., but I do love a good ole Honda!! They may tend to be pretty basic on Frills but they are Reliable, Fun to drive and pretty cheap and easy to repair! I've had a CRX, a 2016 Civic 4 door and an Accord Coupe and they all had that Go Cart feel to them.. Loved Em!!
this was very information. I Love this series!
Hi Mr bendaga I've been watching this series and I love it
Loving the content man would hate to see it leave

My grandma has a 2002/03 fiesta and it’s so fun to drive
You know. For setting abandoned with the window down, that dash is in really great shape!
I really love how this civic came out
Keep these vids coming!
Bro I love your videos I hope to be able to do what you do someday. I love 80s-90s cars and I would love to own a beauty like your civic ! 😊
Hey dude. Jordandistributors has a "ghost key" which is a push to start. Highly recommend it for civics
Little bit lower than you, here in Oregon they don’t care at all. I drove my smashed MX-5 with a wrecked front end, crumpled up fender, no bonnet, bent core support, and a missing headlight+turn signal. I went to the DMV, they looked at the VIN on the dash, then on the chassis of the car, then the person working there gave me a paper to sign up for a rebuilt title and that was everything I needed
Hey man, this is so cool! I know it can be a bit scarry going though inspection, I'm most likely going to be buying a Toyota AE-86, it's either the SR5 or the GTS, it's got everything need for a manual swap in the car, even a new drive shaft, it's got a clean title too, I'm so exited as it would be a first car for me, I'm going to look at it under a lift to see if the rust is repairable, if any. But I'm so exited for it!
In most of my state we have no inspections, and the few places we do (like my county) they only check the emissions, nothing else... but if it is over 25 years old it is exempt from everything. I don't have to worry about anything with my 98 Sentra manual.
I will be moving to a state that has no inspections or emissions testing at all very soon though.
I’ve registered several auction rebuilt title vehicles in NC with only a basic state safety inspection like any other clean title vehicle. when I bought one from out of state I did have to have a VIN check that consisted of them making sure the car’s VIN matched between the door sill, dash and firewall.
NC is way more aggressive about no title vehicles or bill of sale vehicles.
Since your Planning to takeoff the cylinder, head polish and port, the intake ports, and the exhaust ports can get more power and get some coil overs so it can sit on the road better
I learn more from your video
A set of tsw Turismo wheels in silver would really look good on that eggy❤
Nice video's on this car. Thanks for sharing. I don't think I missed it in all the video's on this car but how much did you actually end up getting this car for?
Loved this. Ive been thinking about getting the new civic actually (manual) - I thought about getting somerhing from this generation but I'm afraid it'd be too much a dynamic change for me. I've been driving automatics all my adult life. So thanks for sharing this! I get to experience it vicariously through you. Who knows, maybe I'll get to do it myself someday.
A lot of people who know how to drive manual grew up driving stick or were taught to drive on one, but I just bought my first manual car at 18 after my first car that was automatic and it's not a terribly daunting transition at all. Your first few drives might be a little harrowing, especially if you have to drive it home only knowing the very basics like I did, but spend some free time bumming around parking lots, neighborhoods, and on backroads and you'll have it figured out in no time. I'd say there's a good month or so where you'll be actively thinking about driving and shifting but after that youll have muscle memory built up and it practically becomes second nature. There are lifestyle factors that would certainly warrant sticking with automatic, if I lived in a booming metropolis with frequent stop-and-go traffic scenarios or somewhere with lots of stops on hills driving manual might not be as fun, but if the learning curve is the only thing discouraging you, I say go for it! It's never too late to learn any skill or immerse yourself in any hobby. What's more, that process of learning to drive stick is incredibly rewarding, and once you get over that initial hump, it makes driving a much more engaging and enjoyable experience. You should always do what you think is best for yourself, but I really don't think there's a scenario where you'd regret your purchase.
Go with the stick shift! It is so fun (except occasionally in traffic jams). It really isn't hard to learn and the hardest bit is 0 to second gear.
@@jordanniang8594 Agree totally.
Those videos give me hope to change my transmission on my 03 element
Basically, I was driving with my brake stuck on the disk,so I changed the calliper, but it wasn’t the problem, it was the hose so I forced the transmission and a bit the engine without knowing. Turn out, my 2 and 4 gears aren’t shifting well, so I have to shift them myself to make it work normal(O can do anything, but if I let the truck shift itself, it doesn’t work well, but if I do it myself, nothing happens)
But it’s not all. It was a car I got from my father, which he got from a customer at his garage and he had an accident, so it could have been to a véhicule auction. We repaired most of the frame so that it looks normal, but the 4wd isn’t working, just the traction. My father then changed the drive shaft, but it was so hard he took off the left handbrake, because it’s not working either(the right one broke after the rear differential blocked in a curve,so it’s not a big matter for me, I never use it on my CR-V). However,4wd still doesn’t work,so it must be also something direct in the transmission. Now he doesn’t have his garage, so bo lift to change it,just a lot of tools and some jacks, but the truck is rusty a bit,so we won’t take any risk for now, we just wait till the truck dies
I picked up a Honda civic coupe 1997 for 700$ from some guy in San Clemente ca going on a year and a half car looks great now best year in a half of my life 🎉🎉
A build in progress 😅
I had a radio for that car but I had to get rid of it. It did work too.
1st gen Crv clusters are a nice touch. And the 7th gen civic si wheels would be a clean 15 inch wheel
Try an old Geo Tracker. They're just as simple as that Honda, if not simpler. Lighter too with good predictable handling. Super reliable too.
I have a few 6th gen civics, 1 that's a V6, one that's NA k20 and a B16.
But I also have a stock version, all original, unmolested.
I must admit, I find myself driving the stock version more then any of my others.
this really makes me miss my ek hatchback
that whole inspection process sounds like a nightmare here in michigan theres 0 inspections you just pull up to the SOS and tell them to trasnfer the title
That thing looks good
From my experience I didn’t do a in person vin inspection . My Silverado had a rear end collision I replaced the bed . Got the vin number from the donor truck with a receipt. Added that to a form provided by my state trooper . Then I went to the state trooper headquarters DMV and gave them the from and I think they messed up . They gave me a clean title . Not a rebuilt title . But oh well
I don't know why but the audio doesn't match with the video
that model is my dream car
EK❤ man. Also you had to turn that wheel so much to get it to turn hahah. Guess I’m just used to power steering hahah
Maybe im used to it idk 😂
Bought a car out of state and did a Vin inspection, they just looked at my vin and signed the papers and sent me on my way haha
Lol wow must be nice 🙃
Hello there! First of all I would like to say that I loved the work you put in this car, I really enoyed watching your videos!
Second... I would love to know what state are you in in the 10:39 drive test because I LOVE that zone, all the trees and it looked like a super calm town...
If anyone knows the answer I would really apreciate it tho!

Civic is daihatsu's sirion 2007 cousin but older
Haven't found a Civic I hate yet lol. Even accords I've had good luck with too. First stick I learned on was a old 90s accord. Any one can learn them feel like in 5-10 mins lol. Still drive Honda to this day. Including my motorcycle lol
Noiceee 90s outro😂
For stock+ wheels, I don’t think you can go wrong with em1 Si wheels. They class it up just enough. Used to be a dime a dozen but I doubt that’s still the case unfortunately.
Gonna be selling my ‘96 ej6 soon, if it was a hatch I would never think of selling it.
nice drive! is this in the pnw by chance? love driving the winding, forested roads we have out here
They don’t make cars like this anymore so sad get them while we can and enjoy! 😢
Your missing radio face might be a Sony head unit. Looks similar to mine. I have a Sony a415bt. They're pretty cheap. See what you can find online.
Congrats on the build! 🎉
I actually have the radio face but thank you tho! 🙏🏽
Car people stopped enjoying the popular project cars in their stock form and most of those are at least a little bit modded to gain extra power
The mudguards and some nice wheels are def gunna make the car pop. Don’t see the mud guards all that much
Can you polish the front light and repair the hood? :) Also maybe little tuning possible? Would love that. Great content, keep it up.
I drive an old daihatsu cuore, I love my lil car. No luxus on it but repairs and fuel consumption are so cheap and it drives like a go cart :D
OCD a bit ?

So not necessarily true you can buy parts from private party’s but you have to have a notarized bill of sale from the same place you went to do the Inspection and do the same in front of someone who can notarize it so like the dol or dmv or court house I actually did it yesterday for a door
I’m also from wa and I got to the same vin inspection spot
thats good to know, thanks for providing that insight
what happened to the stereo?
Will there be a vid Where you give it a big turbo, or you give it a straightpipe to make it sound like the average tuned civic
i love civics but one thing yous sead is that you might/thinking of put a sway bar on but i know that a lot of autocross cars do not even run rear sway bars sow if you want to make it more fun maybe a front sway bar and that should stop body roll but keep nice amowns of traction. nice vid tho keep it up
