In Japan they have a saying called motainai... It translates to what a waste but it's also a way of life. You can be sure that every part of the fish was used including the spine and the stomach rib bones (makes a really good Hondashi) you saw the broth that he poured in the soup? That's dashi and the green rectangle he threw in is konbu which is also used to make dashi

Do the Sea Robins from off the coast of NY taste the same? Would love to try it next time I go on a charter boat for stripers and fluke and only catch a bunch of sea robins. The captain always tell us to just throw them back and that they are "trash fish"
