    Very good engine which only had a bad reputation for failure due to useless owners who never checked the oil level or never bothered servicing it.
    Serviced correctly these engines are good for 300k miles.

      true words :(
      It's a good balanced engine built to last. Best used in the clio 3 with 210 NM and 6 short gears. Damn this even makes fun. Power to weight ratio is good and diesel consumption (when driving chilled) is very low 👍
      (not a rocket, BUT very snappy compared to cars in this class)

    Don't blame Renault for iresposible car owners. I have a scenic with 1.9dci and 200k and runs like new. But oil is top quality
    5-40w C3 spec and change every 15k. Best car i ever had.

      Exactly. Look after the car and it will run without any problems. Have had 3 Renault now and never had any issues with any.

  • @programoncloud
    @programoncloud 8 лет назад +4

    hola, yo tuve el mismo problema a los 110.000km y actualmente estoy reconstruyendo el motor yo mismo. El problema esta en que las tapetas de biela se degradan, dejando restos metálicos por todo el circuito de lubricación. Estas virutas, bloquean los lubricadores bajo piston y válvula de seguridad de la bomba de aceite dejándola completamente abierta, por lo que el circuito de lubricación pierde la presión necesaria para la lubricación de bielas y cigüeñal. Todo esto acelera el desgaste de las tapetas de biela y acaba por favorecer en desgaste entre bielas y muñequillas de cigüeñal. Los sombreretes del árbol de levas también sufren desgaste. No recomiendo reparar el coche por la cantidad de materiales que hay que sustituir y el excesivo coste de la reparación. He llamado varias veces a Renault y me ha ignorado en mi reclamación. Saben que hay muchísimos afectados por este problema pero parece no importarles nada. Yo jamás volveré a comprar Renault.

    I have similar car 1.5dci hatch 56 plate. Only done 81000 approx. Already had oil leak at 41000 turned out to be seal for crankshaft(changed timing belt as well)....luckily was under warranty. No problems from 41000 to 81000. Service light come on next day driving at 60mph all of a sudden it sounded like something got caught in engine loud grumbling noise pulled over oil pissing out and flicking up from belt area. No warning lights on dash but did notice fuel consumption down from usual 56+ to 55.6. Wasnt worried as had slow puncture. Now wont start. Great.

    Hi, my turbo broke and a bit of metal went inside the piston and made a little scrach on the piston.
    Now after i fixed the turbo it knocks on low rotation. what problems can i get from this? Or its just nois and everything else will work just ok ?

    • @richardneill2634
      @richardneill2634 9 лет назад

      I suspect the big end shells wiĺl need replacing. Is the noise from the bottom end? When the turbo popped, did the engine keep running after turning off the ignition? If so, the car has effectively been running with no oil and will have wrecked the shells. The shells are cheap enough but not an easy fix.

    I hate these engines, so many different cars that have the 1.5 dci k9k engines, all the problem ones i've seen were k9k 732 and number one crank bearing wears out you'll be driving and when you turn a corner the oil warning screams at you, you stop, turn off, check oil level which is fine and start up and it will be ok, then you need to turn again lol

    You must be 60 years old and you are relating to how Renault built cars in the past
    .
    I have a Renault laguna 1.5 dci and the car is one of the smartest cars ever
    Dashboard warns to start the car if you are listening to radio for along time
    To prevent battery discharge , dasboard tells you when you need to replace card battery
    .
    My key card went to the washing machine for 3 hours
    Car still recognised the card key like nothing happened
    .
    Renault made improvements

    I know this sound. Unfortunately, it cost me a whole lot of money. Megane is my worst car so far. Problem after problem. One thing is fixed and few days or weeks after completely different part gets fucked up. My advice- don't EVER but this car. Unless you've got to much money.

      +Adrien Aubert All of my problems appeared a week after I bought this piece of crap. And every time I fix another part I'm like "No. I can't sell it. I've put so much money in it. It cannot broke again." And my car is like "Huh. Wanna bet? Challenge accepted". But even my patience has its limits. Megane ( alias mean bitch) has to go. And I will NOT buy a Renault ever again. Even of someone would like to give me a Brand New Renault for free.

    • @adrienaubert7317
      @adrienaubert7317 8 лет назад

      +Dori1703 Hahaha, I laughed so much! I can't say that I had a lot of problems with my Clio3 but only strange noises that I don't like, strong vibrations and a smoky exhaust gas...
      Renault has great cars now, but the experience with this brand is that I don't think I'm gonna buy an other one!
      An other one "Renault, nothing can stop it, not even the brakes" but we are used to this one for Renault tractors ;-)

    Warranty direct ,deals with all car repairs by insuring vehicle parts and repairs
    .
    For this reason their car reliability index unlike yours , is not created from peoples imagination, is created from a Insurance database.
    You don't have a clue how cars are made in this days or you would realise things like Engine start , brakes , wipers , estability control , are made by Company called Bosh which builds the same components to BMW , my satnav was built by Tom Tom , Renault builds very little.

    One of the most horrid engines ever made. It's likely the timing belt has slipped. Your looking at least a couple of valves and probably a replacement piston to fix this. I've rebuilt my own engine three times due to various disasters this engine is prone to suffer from. Basically, if you can't do the work yourself it's time for a new car, the labour will be mega bucks (second hand engines are a rip off too). Getting the sump off to change the piston is a nightmare (only car I've ever had that the valves break the piston(s) in a belt failure). Subframe has to come off (miracle if the captive nuts are still captive), it is possible without removing the subframe and can be done by freeing the driveshafts and jacking the engine high but is extremely tricky. The timing tools are a must, even though I don't normally subscribe to them with other cars I've worked on. Also, it's important to note that the crank pulley is not keyed and has to be torqued very high to stop it self-destructing the engine for a second time! The top end is straight forward enough to put back together, apart from the cam pulley which has probably snapped its key when the belt slipped. After all that effort and you're back on the road it will only be a matter of time until the turbo pops and wrecks your engine again. Expect to replace the wiring loom at some point along with the injectors and eventually the fuel pump which will involve ridiculous amounts of effort cleaning the fuel system before re-fitment. All things considered, it's time to light a match and never look back! ;) Good luck!

    • @richardneill2634
      @richardneill2634 9 лет назад

      TRe' CooL Yes, it's certainly economical when it works. Just wait for your first repair bill, unless you know how to repair it yourself, it's a false economy! All car's are great when they work. There is literally no-one with this engine who bought it for the performance, so it's hardly likely to have been ragged, the common faults these engines have cost in the thousands to fix, that's not reliable! Doesn't affect me, I can fix them but would never recommend this to anyone who can't do the work themselves.

    • @jancko995
      @jancko995 9 лет назад

      hmm, wel, are you saying even for the ph 2 megane 2 engines?

    • @richardneill2634
      @richardneill2634 9 лет назад

      TRe' CooL No, I know nothing of that engine. Specifically the 1.5 dci I'm talking about. I have a 1.2 8v petrol as well, which is a nice, reliable little engine (maybe a bit sluggish but was never designed to be fast). I have nothing in particular against Renault, I have two Clios which I got for peanuts because they were going to be scrapped because of the garage bills. I'm merely warning people about the costs and effort involved if these engines go wrong. As said, when it works it's great. When it doesn't, it's going to cost mega bucks!

    Ya, this is a shit model of car and engine. The problem may have been bad maintenance at some point but not the cause of all the problems. The engine alone was bad enough and then the electrics made the whole experience worse. I learned my lesson with a Renault. The thing is their engines are in many other vehicles too - Dacia, Suzuki, Nissan, Infiniti and even the A Class, B Class and CLA Class Mercedes have the dirty fucker 1.5 dci. AVOID. The real disappointment for me was that the Megane I had was super comfortable and great to drive and great handling....but only if it started.
