  • The Polk County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of 21-year-old Deputy Blane Lane, who was shot and killed in the line of duty early Tuesday morning when he and fellow deputies attempted to serve a felony warrant. Sheriff Grady Judd said when the suspect pointed a gun at the deputies, two of them opened fire. Several of their bullets hit the suspect, but one went through the wall of the trailer and accidentally hit Lane, who was in a concealed tactical position outside.

not to mention someone fired more that two shots at a target less than 7 feet away and missed. two shots, bang bang, and reevaluate the situation. if you pull the trigger more than two times then you're just trigger happy. and the dead cop obviously did not take tactically sound position. Mobile homes are not mazes, they have very simple floorplans. he put himself downrange and caught a bullet from another cop who can't hit what he aims at.

A woman failed to show up for a court hearing and arrest warrant was issued.
Sheriff's office received anonymous call that the woman was in Polk city. Four deputies came at 3 am to arrest the woman at home. When they entered the house she pointed a pellet gun at them. Deputies started recklessly shooting. Two rounds hit the woman and one round hit a deputy standing outside the house. The deputy died.

If they can prove she was in the state of mind to understand what she was doing was illegal and dangerous then they can and will most likely convict. They are like every other state well within their rights to try for Criminal Responsibility which leads in her case to a Second-Degree Murder Charge. And at this time, I cannot see any reason why she would be mentally unable to determine what she was doing was illegal or otherwise not dangerous to herself to the Deputies or to anyone within the Public. So yes, if they can convict, they better do so, if they can put her behind bars for the rest of her pathetic life then it's for everyone's best interest. No life experience yet, problem-solving in real life situations, Empathy, Anger, the full spectrum of Emotions in Life and Death situations. Split second life altering , permanent decisions, that can't be taken back. No Mulligans, no Do Overs, no Play this level again.
In perspective, it took me 5 years to become qualified in my trade, that doesn't include kill or be killed. We Construction workers have a higher Injury/Death rate than Cops, Firemen, etc,
Most of our training is Safety Safety Safety. There is Death awaiting us around every corner. It is pounded into our Brains, to be aware of everything at all times.
There's gotta be a better way , longer, more in depth "apprenticeship " training, and time on your tools. It's impossible to get things right, in 6 freaking months. Most cops don't even know the Laws, that they are enforcing, the Constitution they have sworn to uphold, and to be quite honest ESCALATE bad situations, then use Qualifued Immunity to avoid being held accountable for Huge, life changing mistakes.
We The People have lost our trust, in the Powers that be. We see it every single day. Quota hiring, giving a gun and badge to anyone with Purple hair, and a Bad Attitude.
There's gotta be a better way!!
This Sherif is an outstanding human being. More like him would solve these issues quick. He doesn't care, Friend or Foe, if you break the Law, you pay the Price.
      RIP YOUNG MAN

How are ANY PIGS helping out the woman who was just hit by a train while in the cop car?

Both hero PIGS somehow mad it, but wouldn't try to save the PAITENTs they were driving. For THEIR SAFETY.

Maybe you don't care how many innocent people get killed by these PIGS. It's about 2a day. That's not criminals....that's kids, the elderly, people just going about their life.

Imagine joining the police force and then been killed by so called friendly fire. This is so sad and to make it worst the police is charging someone for his death who did not pull the trigger. Where is the accountability? . Typical cover up and always looking for a scape goat. No way this woman should be charge. She did not pull the trigger because the gun she had was a BB gun. Why should we believed the cops who always lie and then try to cover up their mistake.

This would never happen in Oregon; they don't arrest or prosecute people for meth or heroin etc. You have to be careful walking downtown. Step over the poop and needles

Sounds like Oregon has been handed over to the criminals. That is why I live in Arizona. This was tragic that a brother Hero of mine is gone, but he knew Jesus, now he is in the presence of Jesus!!! MCSO 1992 to 2012!

But the police went INTO the home. Why didn’t the police ask the woman to come out of the home rather than go in? Surely it had the marks of a trap. It’s a terrible happening (such an understatement) that young man, serving the community.

They also sent him into a no knock raid without a tac vest. Had he been wearing one he would be alive

I couldn't watch any more. The pain of the loss of Deputy Laine was so very evident on the chiefs face. He held it together damn good.
I cannot imagine the pain and horror of the other two deputies (who defended themselves) in knowing it was their shot that killed Deputy Laine.
May Deputy Laine rest in peace.
May all the deputies involved find peace.
And thank you all for your service.
