Staff prey on dementia patients because they make lousy witnesses. My mom made multiple LUCID comments, always about the same staffer, who she said hits her. I had photos of her looking like this 90 year old woman was a boxer. Huge lacerations-and they never treated her. Needed MANY facial stitches. Couldn’t be bothered to take her to the toilet. Put her into diapers that she didn’t yet need, cuz it was easier.

Right, because it's completely unheard of that government abuses prisoners in correctional facilities. You know, like the Attica riot (where 21 inmates and 9 guards died - all shot by government police) or the fact that like 10 NJ correctional officers were arrested at Edna Mahan Women's Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ for sexually abusing dozens of prisoners over the course of decades. Or that you can easily Google dozens of riots in government-owned jails and prisons where people died IN THE PAST YEAR.
And then there was Jeffrey Epstein committing suicide in the Manhattan Detention Facility where 2 public worker prisoner guards were indicted by the feds.
Yeah, you're real smart. 'Once we get rid of the 'bad' 3rd party correctional facility contractors and put it back in the hands of the wonderful government, everything will be great. Fucking moron.

Having literally worked in one, I saw the facility STARVE the children, who are LOCKED UP WITH ZERO ABILITY TO BOND OUT, after the facility lost 75% of their $200 per day long term residents after a 14 year old was MURDERED by another juvenile, which resulted in most counties taking their juveniles out. SO YOU, @Bionic Puma, are the only one here calling other people names for wanting CHILDREN to be safe. Sorry but Jeffrey Epstein does NOT mean more to most of us than do CHILDREN. Their placement equals MILLIONS AND MILLIONS per year for the "OWNER" of the facility that houses these juveniles ". Tell me how a kid loses 40 lbs. in 3 months if they are being fed? Guess what one of the most costly budgetary line items is in these facilities???? FOOD!!!!!!! You cannot turn the lights and water off so guess what part of their budget is easily shifted so the OWNERS can continue to see profit?? Any guess MORON? Didn't think so MAGAT. It's food. I own a private security company (G4S is a competitor of mine) reason why the staff was told to not report any assaults on themselves by the inmates is because then the policy would say that more staff would need to be on site based on the amount of assaults. Which cuts into their profits. 8 million per year, cost for the amount of staff and other expenses total to about 4.7 million per year. So, profit is between 3 to 3.3 million per year. Adding another 20 staff members would have still had a profit margin of, 23% now keep in mind, the average private security profit margins for the year 2022 was 16% in, 2021 it was 19% and 2020 it was 20%. So, even with adding another 20 staff members to the prison per month, would have still retained above industry average profit margins. With having such minimum staff, profit margins were around 34.3% for G4S. Greedy!!!

He does not sweep things under the rug, when departmental transgressions are committed, he shares the good, the bad, the horrendous and the evil. I wish this sheriff could work in the UK law enforcement because he would be a breath of fresh air.

I’ve worked at DJJ for almost 17.5 years in a Detention Center. I had to retire because of a heart attack. It’s causes a lot of stress. We got juveniles from all walks of life. I was there before we had uniforms and a radios. They put one staff maybe two on a Mod with over thirty juveniles. Crimes ranging from shoplifting to rape and murder. They finally gave us a badge, uniform, and a radio. You had to look out for the health and welfare of each every child. A child that could care less about his own parents and could care even less about you! They send you to a training academy to certify you in take down youth that are out of control, wether it be mentally or physically. The average youths I’ve seen in detention were 8 to 21 years of age and they’re always hungry. So that means we have to protect the smaller youths from the larger youths. You might be fortunate enough to work with a good staff that didn’t work a previous 8 hour shift. If you never worked in a detention center. You won’t have a clue about how evil youths can be. I can tell you stories that will make you throw up. It got to the point where admin staff have to participate in quelling disturbances. I know you say, if it was so bad, why didn’t you leave? Well, you had your share of bad kids as well as the good kids. I actually came across some youth that were, “caught at the wrong place at the wrong time” and some that were innocent. My heart went out to them. We use to refer to the dorms as the “Pit”. This is where we would interact with the 30 plus youths that been locked up until the next shift starts. You don’t know if they had a good day or a bad day. So, I don’t know if the youth been to court or not, or if the youths got more time. The youths always say that if they don’t get out, they punch the first staff they see. Woman or man, they don’t care. They play you against the administration because they know can can get you fired or put off the mod until after the investigation. The sheriff is on point about DJJ policies. They need to be corrected. I had to escort youths to residential facilities before.

You are right all of these juveniles are not bad but most are that’s way they are in djj in the first place. If you haven’t worked for djj or a program run n under them, you will never fully understand the struggles of dealing with juvenile youth.

I work at a site where the client demands G4S employees to either have a degree in criminal justice, 3yrs law enforcement, or 3yrs active duty military experience. Not all clients demand such high quality candidates. Like the DoJ for example. These guards were making barely over minimum wage and didn’t have to have any prior experience. You're correct. Greedy!!!

Numbers.... more criminals and stupid people that waste the time of officers than there are law enforcement!! Yet, some criminals demand that agencies be defunded. They need more money and to have briefings like this in every county/city.

The problem is that the prison industry is privatized. They clearly don't have the rehabilitation of their inmates in their best interests. That's why the government needs to take control, but it's possibly too far gone too do that now at this point.

20yrs ago Discovery Academy in Utah. These programs were an absolute nightmare when I was sent, and it’s horrific to see that It’s still the same. I know what happened there. Good luck finding what did happen officially between the money and the Mormons.

I dated a Female that was raised in the system and myself was in the Wayne Country Youth Home and the amount of rape that occurs inside so many of the institutions from YOUTH HOMES, & all other forms of holding minors.
I live in MICHIGAN & have heard of and seen so much abuse from the youth facilities up to the adult prisons.
Most people just accept that it is possible that they will get raped or abused in some way and you cannot talk about it unless you really want to experience some serious abuse.
I was in the youth home in the mid-90’s and the girlfriend was in the Huron Valley Correctional facility in Ypsilanti in 2015.
So, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that rape and serious abuse spans at least from the mid 90’s until 2015 to what I have actually seen and experienced.
This is a national problem and likely goes global!!!
I am even using someone’s account so they can’t find who said this just in case! They have all the money so nobody says anything…

Polk county law enforcement agencies and administrators, thank you for being exemplary and ready to go against the corrupt who otherwise take gross obscene advantage of the responsibility which the citizens entrust them.
God bless and protect you all.

I once had to go get my child from a Juvenile detention center because he was being bullied at school. Everything was fine and dandy with the school until my son had enough of getting the crap beat out of him at school and defended himself. My kid was then sent to jail for assault for defending himself. He didn't throw a single punch he just held his lunch tray over his face while the bully punched it repeatedly until the tray broke. This is in no way assault. I was pissed off when I was told that this had been happening for 4 months. 4 months and school system did not notify me once. My child had to endure beating at the hands of what I would call a psychopath. I watched as four grown men took this boy from the school. He screamed in rage, he flailed, he bit , hit, kicked and refused to walk, he had to be carried from the school. This is the boy that targeted my son. This child had a history of picking a victim every year at school and punishing that child all year. I asked why he wasn't expelled yet? I said what is it going to take to remove this child from the school? Are they going to wait until he kills a student or teacher before they expel him? He was sent to the juvenile detention center in the same car as my son. He didn't come back. He is now in prison for other crimes.

Most juvenile facilities in every state are simply back creeks to throw what's considered juvenile 'trash' into. Then they get out and at 17 or 18 get into the state prison sentence.
