    Hi Dan, your videos and and channel are great. Spot on production and presenting. :)
    This was an interesting one for me. I've had chronic shoulder pain of varying levels for over a decade and I never really got any proper relief or improvement until last year when it reached an acute phase which was bad enough to not let me sleep. This led me to do some serious research.
    I had already worked on strengthening back muscles and rotator cuff strengthening movements but these hadn't made much if any difference. It was when I incorporated thorough stretching techniques that things improved. It was painful to do in the start but I realised I had to reduce the inwards and forwards pull on the joint. I worked hard on several pectoral and anterior deltoid stretches as well as hanging stretches. This routine finally gave my shoulder joint and whatever parts were aggravated the chance to heal and calm down. I now still do the stretch routine regularly (at least 3 times a week) and extra if I ever feel any niggles or upper back pain, (which to me is an indicator that my upper back muscles are over working to compensate tight pectorals and any bad posture.)
    Anyway, long rant over. Haha

      hi Paul, what where the specific stretches/exercises that you incorporated? I've found dead hangs are helping my impingement, as well as stopping any overhead presses.

    I’m a PT, thanks for this information.
    As someone who has used this terminology and understood the mechanism behind impingement syndrome, it’s definitely difficult to shift my understanding. But I absolutely want to be a PT who follows the research wherever it goes.
    I guess the only confusion I have is, if the pain is not a result of muscle imbalances, then why do we see such an improvement of pain and ROM when strengthening IRs/ERs and stretching the adductors?

      Hi thanks for commenting and great question. It is possible that the exercises you mention reduce pain independent of strengthening. Research has indicated this could be happening with exercise rehab.
