I've seen quite a few chiropractor and physicals therapist in my life just recently I did something I shouldn't do and injure my only good shoulder and the pain was unbearable and I am not a good believer in pain medication and I am so glad that God put this two Dr.'s in my way I've been doing some of the exercises every day in the morning and night with the tens unit and ice and now I am looking forward to kayaking and do the water sport I love with out pain. Thank you Bob and Brad and keep up the good work.
I did the hanging from a chin up bar a year ago as one of your videos said. I did it slowly and built up the hanging time. My shoulder impingement is now gone and i have no shoulder pain
Me too John ~ it’s a great tip.
I still do it a little everyday.
Carpenter Family same for me, these exercises do work, and it did take time to overcome the impingement, but I kept doing them as it got better, slowly.
How do you know that your problem was “shoulder impingement?”
Daytona Says What?! I followed Bob Brad's test video for it, it wasn't anything like something else.
Did you ever get a clicking or popping sound in the back of your shoulder? I think my tendon on my rear shoulder muscle may be rubbing against my shoulder bone from poor posture. I've been trying the dead hang for about a week now.
I had to stop doing pull ups for a few months because I was doing them wrong and it seemed to have hurt my shoulder. My shoulder got better after laying off the pull ups for a few months, but I still get this weird clicking if I bend down to pick something up.
A year ago I took x-ray and the doctor says I have osteopenia. They didn't say anything was wrong with the shoulder. I've since then gained weight in hopes the osteopenia will go away since I was underweight.
Once again Bob and Brad literally changed my life with their videos. So many years of competing and injuries being alleviated. Thank you so much!
The very best therapist. They tutorials self assisted and guided assessments have been very perfect for my finding solutions to my muscle pain which I thought was broken ribs. There was nothing broken confirmed by xrays but non treatments or medicine could resolve my muscles pain.
So I turned to u guys and I want the world to know that your therapies were able to help reduce pain and self manage my sciatic pain problem which shifted from one side to the other. That led me to figure that piriforms syndrome was a factor affecting my left femoral muscles. I did your test to prove that I could not lift left leg. I then followed your routine to warm massage and the response was so immediate and continue the rest of routine. I coukd not walk but now I can and I owe it to u.
All same as I was overly compromised I had other pain on my ribs stopping from breathing coughing or sneezing under my arms. I had to grab my chest to engage in all these to a point that I could not sit up in bed without assistance.
I then went step by step following each therapy session to heal me. As I speak most parts are healing no more need to grab my chest to cough.
As I speak I am now working on resolving pain on my arms and strangely after doing the smallest massage of my upper shoulders the pain reducing from 10 to 2. Am so amazed how physical therapy can heal us without medication.
I was in a cocktail of meditation pain killers that did nothing but sedate me and diid not stop my movement pain at any point.
So don't do this but this what I did.
I stopped all of them and only used diazepam to relax muscles and physical exercises. With only that I have recovered from 10 to 3 in general with some bad days of going down to 5.
In general at 10 I was now in bed 24 hrs dosed and exhausted, but with physical therapy I can honestly say I have improved to be more functional at 3 as daily tolerance state.
I have also gone back to key Meds after I proved that physic has improved and continue to use your guidance.
I encourage everyone sick to try these to help themselves even if bed bound do something small. Sleeping is easy by can be exhausting and depressing. I did most of my healing while bed bound and only when I improved now I can do some of the advised exercise to suite my own tolerance.
I don't know these therapist but I believe they are the best and I have healed better taking medicines. The two are complementary. Always stop and think physical health along side medication.
Medication are good forl long term conditions but leave u dependant and with side effects. Physical treatment teach u to heal yourself it's like exercise no sweat no gain.
You guys are great. Thank you for sharing these techniques for FREE!!!
Nothing is free.
It‘s amazing how you seem to talk to my issues, when I need it. Thank you.
These exercises and stretches made my shoulders pain free in 3 days!!! I now do all every day!!!
As a Masters thrower-discus, shot, hammer, plus highland games implements- my shoulders ached all the time until I saw their techniques. Much improved.
This is exactly what I am suffering with. I had open heart surgery, massive stroke and 7 gran mal seizures. And I’m still here..long story.I’m 70. That was 9 months ago. IThank you for helping me! Always enjoy and learn so much!
We needed real doctors like you 2...God Bless .People fall short in knowledge like doctors do
EXCELLENTLY DONE
Thanks Bob and Brad. Sharing this for free with the world is a real life saver for many people. I don't have to tell you that mobility is life, and that giving folks more mobility is everything sometimes. Thanks again.
Thanks for the stretches. My PT gave me a back stretch and two neck stretches. She says that my neck muscles are compensating for my weak back muscles.
Same here. Exercises really woek.
Perfect timing guys!! Thank you!!
Wow! I did some of these exercises while watching the video and my range of motion increases and pain decrease. Thank you so much. I love you guys🙏
I have had an impingement for years. I am going to add all of these to my shoulder routine. Thank you.
I have shoulder pain from weight lifting, fitness. I have pain doing chest press and internal rotation of shoulder reaching the other shoulder. Also pain when rising my arm for shoulder impingement test. Moreover, I feel pain in my long head brachii which is said to be developed from shoulder impingment. I have been watching several videos first to find my problem, which looks like to be shoulder impingement, and how to fix it. My pain felt so good doing the last exercise and I wanted to share this right now that I tried it while watching it. Thanks to these good fellas which are the most well known physical therapists on the internet.
Be safe and healthy.
I'm a weight lifter in my mid 40s. I've been having shoulder impingement. I thought it was a rotator cuff tear despite doing internal and external rotations every week. This was the best video. Thanks!
Thanks guys for all you do, and your personalities, as well.
Guys, thanks - I've been needing exactly this kind of advice!
Bob and Brad! I want you both to know how much you have helped me.
They always say to use your good arm to work the bad one. Neither arm is great at the moment. I had shoulder replacement and I have pain from impingement but the other arm is total arthritis. But that shoulder is frozen. I can’t feel pain but I can’t use the arm for anything heavy. Their exercises and stretches are helping a lot!
I got the book...good information and hanging helps👍
This is 100% correct. My shoulder is finally coming around doing these things. I got the straps off Amazon and everything.
Thank you guys one of those exercises is really helping me. Specifically the first one. Really made me feel better today. I hope you two have a good day.
I love you guys! You are spot on for so many things. Years ago I had shoulder problems, it got better but I am having this exact pain again. I thought maybe since it was back, I would have to treat more aggressive, like surgery BUT I will try this, based on what you suggest, maybe I just need a little work again.
I find these exercises really helpful, also learn about how to if you sleep on your side so you're not pushing your shoulder out of it's socket
Thanks to both of you sir , Lot of love🙏🙏🙏🇮🇳
You guys are AMAZING. I used some of the techniques from this video and some from one of your other videos and within TWO days my pain was almost completely gone. Thank you!
That massage worked like magic. Thank you guys.
I will apply your counsel and keep you posted of my progress concerning my shoulder pain. Thank so much for sharing your knowledge with the public!
Thanks, this has helped my shoulders, also I saw this on your mid back pain and tried hanging, heard a pop in my back and the pain went way down, this was after having the paing for almost 2 weeks, thanks so much.
Thank you Bob n Brad for showing the shoulder pain exercises. I am 73 yrs old l had a fall on my right side 2 mths ago. I also had a previous fall same side 10 yrs ago while l was standing on a chair. I am trying this exercises hope it improves in time. God bless you both. Greetings from Malaysia.
Oh my. I'm always rubbing my right shoulder in that area. It feels pretty good. But now I understand better how to do it and why it is helping break up the scar tissue. That makes sense. Thank you thank you. Really and truly thank you
What area?
Just what I needed!
Thanks your lessons on Physical Therapy has helped with neck and shoulder and back .
You guys are good. This has helped tremendously.
Thanks!
You two are so helpful! Thank you!
A huge thank you for this video and your previous videos on shoulder pain. I have been in such major pain the last week in both shoulders and I’ve been using your stretching methods(exercises) They really work thank you so much
Thanks! For sharing and caring about your viewers! I emailed you about my shoulder and wow... you uploaded this video on shoulder infringement! Of course I watched it and immediately purchased your resistance bands. Got them today! Thanks again!!
We hung up the bands yesterday with the wall supports! Got my first therapy / workout in! Also, used the stick stretch and I definitely felt the stretch where I needed it. I'm going to continue to work at unfreezing my shoulder. Thanks again!!
Couldn't sleep last night until I found this video. Y'all are a Godsend. This is all pretty new for me. I guess I've had it mild for years but it'd come and go and was never too serious, but a few weeks ago it happened and has stayed. Wasn't even sure what it was until I watched this too. Thank Y'all so much!
My shoulder already feels better. Doing these every day. Thanks for all the help Bob and Brad
Omg. Exactly what I needed
For what?
@@daytonasayswhat9333 for my shoulders. I had shoulder impingement two years ago and it was so painful. I had to get physical therapy which didn’t work ( wrong exercises) then I had steroids injected to my spine. I am due for another shot but pandemic delayed everything. I was searching youtube for some exercises to do to feel a little better and this exercise popped up the day after I subscribed to this channel. Coincidence? Perfect timing for me!! It helped relieved some pain and perhaps I don’t need my second shot anymore.
@@YeeHaw168 No, no coincidence. It must be the work of allah. Imagine your bullsht lining up with this bullsht.
These helped me sooo much!!! Thanks a million guys. Take care
Thanks very much for all of your helpful videos!
Thank you for these therapeutic exercises! 😁
Thanks Guys. This Finally Fix my impingement. Really thought i need surgery.
Why did you think that you needed surgery?
Wow! I really needed this one. How did you guys know I hurt my shoulder? ESP or XYZ. Amazing. I close to go do the exercises
I’m 28 years old and I played hardball since I was 4 years old I started feeling an impingement when I was about 16 but I didn’t know how to diagnose it or treat it so I would take ibuprofen to mask the pain before every game. I’m just now starting to hang 12 years later and I can feel it healing. I’ve been hanging for 9 weeks so far. It still hurts when I play catch over 30 yards. I’ll try to update this post as the weeks go by.
Bob & Brad, making pain fun since 2011.
Why 2011?
@@daytonasayswhat9333 Because that's the date I wrote. Why ask?
Another Awesome Video. I had shoulder impingement surgery on one side of me, because I had pain radiating from the shoulder, and down the arm. On the other side, I had almost the same kind of pain, but it was caused by my neck C-6 and C-7. I'd just like to add that if physical therapy doesn't work, or makes it worse, go to the appropriate doctor, have x-rays, and a MRI done, to find out what exactly is wrong.
Thanks Bob and Brad! I was having some shoulder pain, and these exercises helped, along with some lightweight upright rows.
Avoided surgery twice now because of you both !
this is great. need these!
God bless you guys! Your videos have helped me so much with numerous issues.
Exactly what I need!!!
Had shoulder problems for ages and only now realized it was due to impingement thanks to your tests.
Couldn't get my should to even lift my elbow halfway up while resting my hand on the opposite shoulder (while my good should I could hit myself in the face with my elbow...)
A single set of the chicken wings repetitions instantly I have the same ability in my bad shoulder for a short while.
You guys are lifesavers.
Me too can not lift my elbow to touch my face unlike my good shoulder.
Can you please explain the chicken wings repetition ? Or maybe share a link that demonstrates it.
Thanks
Love you guys! Thank you soo much for your tips.. Please continue to make videos...
I love watching you guys. Am in Australia and I came across you while googling how to fix impingement. Your advice has proven very helpful (and delivered with humor). Thank you.
Cissus . I work out really hard and do pull up bar and other stuff HANGING AND CISSUS !! Cissus
Get better
You guys are too funny! God bless you! 🌝⚘
Thanks for sharing, my shoulder filled better already. You are a blessing. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Excellent sirs
Great volume! Thanks!!
The 4th exercise did help me
Very helpful. I found that applying pressure to the side of my neck and stretching my neck made the shoulder less painful. I couldn't even do most of the exercises at first.
Thanks for the belt tip. That's certainly helped me stretch my arm back better.
I can also confirm that doing dead hangs helped with my shoulder impingement. Had to start off slowly because I couldn't raise my hand straight up into the air. Slowly reaching for the bar, straightening, and then hanging slight on it helped me straighten my arm again.
Hello this is the TRADITIONAL 80s goth I work out hard with a weighted vest long short story
Overworked shoulders
One month two weeks no work out
Felt sad and depressed cracked really bad

This is great stuff! Thanks Bob and Brad :-)
I do this and it’s great exercise
Thank u guys.Just what i needed. My rt shoulder is in too much pain.its probably tendinitis due to repetitive movements 😌.iam going to start doing these exercises asap. You are the best!
I like the lean wall pull up
I have had shoulder impingement for a long time, what helped me most was traction, when my sessions were over, I used a small pillow (log shaped for lack of a better word), and, lying down, placed it under my neck, I let my head
become the weight and relax over the pillow, this helped a lot.
Which shoulder did you have “impingement”’on?
@@daytonasayswhat9333 Left. I would have to take Advil and painkillers, also had to sleep with a pillow to elevate my arm. Sometimes the pain was so bad it felt like my bone was burning down to the elbow.
@@kathiec1333 What caused this?
@@daytonasayswhat9333 Unsure if it was a post whiplash late effect or from lying in the floor with my arm bent holding up my head or a combination.
@@kathiec1333 what a bunch of crap. Every comment on this video is an obvious fraud and/or paid commenter.
Love your presentation _ makes me feel better even before starting with the excellent advice
I am seeing a EMG in 2 weeks because of 8 weeks of sleep interuption from arm/shoulder pain. My PCP worked me with Osteopathic session on my arm and shoulder and wow he found all the sensitive areas. But I am scared to see the EMG an hour away from where I live and you can bet I will be trying out Bob and Brads suggestions hopefully I can get relief. I thought my Mattress was the issue. it’s only 8 years old Temperpedic firm Queen with a 20 year warranty. But I moved to the middle of the bed and no relief. But I have some guidance thank you guys and love learning all the time! I think the human body is AMAZING and love learning as much as I can.
I put pillows under my arms to support them when in a chair or in bed. Hope this helps you!
thank you sirs..you are..may be angels. Thanks again
i just got my shoulder impingement. ive tried taking meds but the pain doesnt really go away it just shuts up for a few hours... but i didnt wanna keep taking them pain relievers and risk my kidneys... so i started looking for online self treatments..and i found some of your earliest vids.. but this probably is the best vid about SI so far. thank you cool docs
Mine took about a year and a half to heal; however, it still cracks. I utilize a lot of stretching since the strength has regressed, but it’s not the same. Good luck to you.
ive ordered the book you recommended from amazon UK.
huge thanks for all your help guys, your videos are a massive help for my post stroke shoulder pain which has been/ can be hours of excruciating pain every day.
If your arm is weak from the stroke, you could be getting pain from your shoulder subluxing. In that case please don't stretch it or pull on it.
@@dianapopova3099 i think your right because i have a habit of letting the arm dangle at side of chair as i sit.
@@dannythomson5239 Try not to let it dangle. If you are sitting on a chair, try to put your arm on the table. Or sit on the couch with some pillows supporting your arm under the elbow. Also when you are sleeping on your back, support your arm with pillows under the elbow and forearm so it doesn't pull on your shoulder. if your arm dangles while you are walking, look into getting a sling to support it. There is a special sling that was developed for people with flaccid/weak arms to help prevent subluxation, called a Givmohr sling, it provides great support and is not noticeable like a typical shoulder sling. I believe it is cheaper on their webside, but check amazon as well. Hope something helps you!
@@dianapopova3099 good tips, thankyou so much.
THANK YOU !
So is there supposed to be a bit of pain during these exercises? How do I know if it’s too much pain or just pain from stretching? I slept wrong and now my left shoulder seems impinged and I can’t even do a push-up
you guys are life savers
What're the best exercises to do if I have damage in both shoulders?
As ever, wonderful stuff!!!!!!
My issues isn't up and down motion. I have no problem raising my right arm going up and down or sideways. It's anytime I have to bent my right elbow motion that I have pain my shoulder.. I can't scratch my back ,putting on jeans is painful when I get up my waist, it kills me putting on my seat belt in the car when I'm driving that range of motion. I can't even get my arm to go where you said in the back most people can put their arm to do that back pole motion pull for exercise 3 & 4. Also sleeping is a killer no matter what I do. I wake up at least 3 times a night. Of course it had to be my right arm since I am right handed. Don't know if you'll respond but what can I do to start when it's pretty bad? My health care provider has not done too much PT since covid. Then do online but their cameras are horrible and I can't see what they are doing.
This is the 2nd time I have dealt with shoulder inpingement. Too much reaching into the backseat to hand stuff to the kiddos. The "chicken wing" is the one exercise I can do that gives me more mobility. Thank you, Bob, Brad, and crew.
I’d actually been doing something just like the cross-friction massage on the tendon on my sore shoulder (it’s one of the few things that controls the pain) when I came across this video 😆 I’ll add these to my physio routine and see how it goes!
When reaching I have pain that radiates down the back of my arm from the shoulder to the fingertips. I also get excruciating pain with a quick movement such as throwing my arm up in the air, or if this happens accidentally when falling, twisting, or jumping. It feels like impingement, and the orthopedic doctor thought so as well. I had a cortisone shot, and have been doing these exercises. However, I still have some pain and limitation, especially when my arms gets jerked, and hanging is extremely painful and intolerable. Thoughts??
Sleeping and sitting give the worts pain ,for year now ,i got in 15 monts 2 cortison inj, and give thempory less pain.
I love the video,s👌
I pray the exercise help you! I'm having a very slow recovery, but changing to these stretches hopefully will help get the areas I wasn't feeling any stretch. Keep at it!
Warts aren't usually painful. 🤔
Thank you!!!
Thanks for your help once again you chaps are awesome ❤👌😎 keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
Our pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Bob
I had had the shoulder issue from time to time. Maybe due to prior sports activates, etc. Is it best to use ice on the shoulder after my activates and the self treatments you show? Enjoy your self help videos!! Thanks and keep it up!
Second time you guys have changed my life. Thank you for this. I've been to the doctors 3 times and had a difficult time explaining when and where I was having trouble.
When you tell them it hurts sometimes when I reach out to pick something up or sometimes when I lift my arm over my head but it feels better when I lie down to have my arm over my head but then it hurts like crazy when I put my arm down......
They look at me like I'm nuts.
Could this also make the front of your arm hurt or cause pain in the elbow?
I have spinal stenosis and have had surgery on my lower back once and my neck twice.
I also have pain on the front of my legs, like my lap when I sit down....
In my experience, most doctors don't have the specific training to diagnose joint pain. Get a referral to a physical therapist. They will run you through a series of movements that will reproduce and diagnose your pain, even over video conference. I like these videos to get different exercise ideas but they're no substitute for qualified medical advice.
You guys are awesome
Again!!! I can't sleep because of shoulder pain! Every time you guys upload...I happen to be suffering with the issue!! 😳🖖
Need exercise for R arthritis.finger.shoulder and knee pain very often
Hi guys, great video I have 2 questions.
What causes this impingement? If I do these exercises, will that keep me from having another impingement?
Just working out shoulder - think tore it don’t want to do Surgey- so will do these.
I’m a RUclipsr myself I should do more life changing content like this.
0:40 "Half-hazardly" 😂
Are there exercises for people that have all these issues but are also super loosy goosey in the shoulders? I think I'm over flexible in the shoulders, but I also have clunking, clicking and pain. Help!
In these cases you need progressive loading shoulder exercises with weights
are these pt exercises good for glenoid labrum tear and resultant bicep pain? thanks
I love you guys! Thank you for all of your wonderful information. I have self diagnosed myself with shoulder impingement and am hopefully on my way to healing with your guidance.
How is it going?
@@mrs.schmenkman It is improving! The best part of it is that I'm sleeping better because of the extra pillows I've been using (saw it in one of Bob and Brad's videos).
Do u think that the vibration would cause more damage ?
You guys are the best! Bob: "You gotta spend a couple of hours a day just taking care of pain issues". OmG that´s so true LOL
Hey Bob and Brad. I've had a superspinatus shoulder impingement for a year now - got from doing too much lockdown yoga (and working from the couch, apparently).
At this chronic stage, I'm wondering if swimming is a good or bad thing to do - being in the sea was definitely good for it last summer, but I was only doing a little bit. Would swimming laps be likely to hurt it more?
PS I love you guys.
