- Again this video was just for fun before the engine is taken out of the car for a project in the future. The car does sound pretty good though and with the right exhaust setup I think itll sound great!

I feel like generally anything with a turbo isn't going to sound toooooo bad with a muffler delete.
I thought it was going to be super loud and obnoxious but I’m glad it wasn’t like that lol

I'm using a K04-023 on mine, but I have a full 3" turboback with HF cat and Magnaflow 3" single in/out. Flows beautifully and sounds fantastic.
The turbo works like a mufler ! Still a Nice sound tho
I’ve only ever had VR’s too but I’ve heard really good things about 42 DD exhaust for the 1.8t sounds nice as well
When you get ur exhaust for the 1.8t just put the downpipe on with one o2 and you’ll get all the sounds and pops you want
I'm running a 2.5 in. Stainless steel exhaust from Techtonics Tuning, from the turbo back. High flow cat, euro mid muffler and Borla stainless steel muffler on my AWP 1.8t Jetta wagon. I have had this exhaust system on this car since March 2017, was around 170,000 miles when installed and currently at 237,000 miles no problems. This exhaust system is quiet, need this for a daily driver in a nice Florida neighborhood.

I know it's absolute blasphemy, but I much prefer the 1.8T, especially in a Mk3 chassis... similar stock power, simple flash tunes and upgrades plus 80ish lbs lighter over the front wheels means a much more balanced driving experience. I just finished my 3.5 Cabrio 1.8T / 02J swap so am super pumped to see how you approach this project.
Straight pipe catless is what I run
I was running my vr straight piped (exhaust fell off from the cat back) it was ridiculously loud
they make decent power but god damn they sounds like a tractor or truck lol vr6 FTW

Sounds ok, I kinda like the quiet killer of a high flow setup (cat rez muffler) I had a 1.8t setup with the bfi kit. But I sold it when I saw how perfect the vr5 looked in the Savoy, it just looks better. Fits better, and sounds best. But the tuning for the 1.8t will always win for easy power. If it was me I would drop it in the gti and a quiet exhaust. Make a good sleeper. But it's not me, and I'll watch no matter how it plays out. As always keep up the good work Christian, amazing content.

I drove my old mk3 golf like that for years just bolt everything back together, get it smogged, then unbolt it. Just put a heat shield over any wiring or break lines that might be close to the exhaust now.
Mine had a Magnaflow cat back when I bought it, but since then I got a 3inch catless downpipe and deleted the resonator. It sounds perfect like that not to loud with nice light crackles, sometimes I take the muffler off tho and enjoy the full straight pipe tractor status 😂

On my 1.8t (3.5cabrio swap) I'm running TT 2.5" DP to 2.5" test pipe to 2.5" Autotech exhaust with resonator and dual 3" outlets on the magnaflow muffler. Love the sound but does drone a bit around 3k rpms.
i keep having to do a double take to see if it's not a passat lol! those taillights are deceiving

you should open up the airbox and unplug the vacuum hose from the diverter valve for some awesome turbo sounds you wont regret it

42 draft dp straight to a magma flower muffler sounds pretty good and doesn’t drone for me

Also wanna add they have massive wiring problems lol so be aware
Whenever I swap it into something I’ll probably have a whole new harness made so hopefully I can avoid those wiring issues 😅

Oh yeah it’ll never beat a vr sound but it’s not bad lol also the US parts on the car are going to a friend here but if he doesn’t want the trunk I’ll let you know!
