Did we surprise you?
Yea but it would’ve been more realistic with a gt28 or gt30 because that’s the most common turbo upgrade for a Mk4 1.8. I want to dyno my golf gls 1.8t it’s on a stock turbo with a fat intercooler peaking at 27 psi but holds steady at 25 psi but I’m trying to get more power so I’m wondering what turbo to use.
But great video I enjoyed watching
Definitely, wasn't expecting it to crack 400whp
My guest was 420whp and 320wtq.You have utilise race fuel so im not suprise no.Hpentousiast made similar power and race it
@@BrendanMeara Not really, because the point was to see how much power it could make... limiting the turbo size only hinders it's abilities for the task at hand.
The only youtube channel that gives proper love to the 1.8t.
that's insane, I would never suspect a stock engine 1.8 mk4 to make this kind of power, that's sleeper status right there
the 1,8ts were always at war with the VR6 community over which one can be modified to push out the biggest numbers
@@OACSOME Forced induction mods are a bitch to get street legal in germany. If it comes with a turbo, you can fit any size you want so we just build our little 4 bangers.
@@thetruth5232 not to mention its definitely cheaper to upgrade the 1.8 than to force induction a VR

Thanks man. Congrats I'm surprised it took you this long. 👍

Tanks for u time that u put in u good vids
You guy's are the KINGS of these 1.8t's!! Awesome work!!
I was not expecting anything over 350whp before instant engine disassembly. Good job!
Thanks 👍
this 1.8t engines can handle 400hp easy, what kills them is the torque, that I think the limit is on 300ft-lb and then you bend rods, (obviously with a smaller turbo and lower rpm´s, where it´s easier to bend them)
Well guys, that was a great ending to a brilliant project. I wasn’t too sure about it when I saw the first instalment but you got me hooked. Keep up the good work. 👍🇬🇧
Glad you liked, I had a vision. Lol
Damn I love 1.8t's. Crazy potential. Definitely surprised me wow.
Love this series! Definitely weird for me though because I have a MK4 GTI with the Jetta front end in the stock navy blue. It’s basically a less clapped version of the 1.8hoopT. Keep up the good work!
So it's just hoop.
Been here since 3.5k subs! You inspired me so much with these 1.8ts builds! 2 years ago I built mine! Hopefully soon you can remote tune mine! Great job with making that power. Everyone always saw oh they won’t make more then 300 but never seen proof anywhere. Finally a quality video proving so! Great work!
Thanks for the love. :)
I was waiting to see the 500number. But regardless you guys didn't disappoint! Solid tuning 👌👌
Thanks, I'm gonna try. :)
Iv been checking my notifications vigorously for this video to be uploaded.... And it did not dissapoint!
That is seriously impressive power.
Thanks for the awesome content, technical info and inspiration guys, you got me from talking about doing my car to actually swinging spanners and building.
Im stoked that it didnt spill its guts yet, this series needs a few more episodes.
Would like to see how drivable it is below boost range as it is now, and maybe how the stock motor would do with a slightly smaller (gt28-30) framed turbo that would be usable as a daily.
Glad you liked.
Thank you. Videos like these help you understand the 1.8T engine and what can she handle. I know every engine is different but it helps. Thank you for these series.
Thanks for following along.
Great content, just stumbled on your channel today looking up GTI performance for an eventually future car. Love how you dug into the details and showed the progress on the car dyno/tune. Looking forward to future videos.

Glad you like them!
with respect from Romania. you are and are the best. because of you and the RUclips channel I ended up buying a Leon M1 1.8t auq.
Appreciate the comments. Best of luck with your project.
I’m definitely impressed with the end result. I wasn’t expecting 350whp before blow up. I guess the torque earlier on really does blow these engines up.
This probably feels like 80s turbo cars. Unless you’re over 5k it’ll just feel like a 2.slow with loud noises.
I hope you get to play with it more before it goes boom. My guess is you’ve already killed it. I just hope you didn’t create an oil slick on the highway.
2.slow? You talkin about the 2.5 haha
This was pretty satisfying to see a stock 1.8 make that much jam! I had high hope's at a guess of 437 whp and 345 torque, but she still lives on for round 2.
I'm pretty damn excited to see how much power my 1.8t stroker makes that you guys are in the process of building.
You guessed 368tq which is why you didn't win. Lol. Hopefully when it's all done and in the car we'll get to stretch it's legs on the dyno.
Great job 👍👌
Great job and content again gents. Really wish more people would actually watch the video instead of asking questions that you meticulously stated in it :-).

Awesome job guys, I made 419HP/364TQ on a Pulsar GTX3076R Gen II Stock engine as well, just be cautious because mine did not last long at that power level. Your power lines are really smooth, I wish I have the luxury to go standalone. My Mafless tune has really crappy lines lol ^__^

Cant wait to see how it holds up on the road now with repeated pulls
Very explained video on the 1.8t 300 torque - 320 torque with a small turbo is more reliable than pushing a large turbo and have no longevity and spending more than what is required. Great video guys
Fun build!
Wow! Didn't expect over 400 😲
Keep Going Mr. Kramer! 😁
Good stuff
Ya'll are the real mvp's! Nice work! You happen to be hiring? 😎
Good power for the dyno on the real world doing pulls it will blow up with those numbers stock
Wild is not even the word, this is amazing!! So considering you guys mentioned stock Throttle Body & Intake Manifold, would there be any merit throwing on any aftermarket upgrades of those you might have around to see where that takes things before you grenade it? Or is that going against the whole "stock everything"
At this point there's enough power to wreck everything by just using timing/boost. So yes putting a better TB and intake manifold would help make power easier... it's not going to make it make any more overall power. If it's going to break at say 450whp... it won't matter what TB/intake manifold is on it. If we were tapped out on it making power, sure we could do things like that to help free up HP, but at this point it's just a couple keystrokes away from making more/wrecking the way it is. lol
Nice video, i have an Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV, stock engine, stock intake manifold, i installed Garrett G25-550 with tubular manifolds, aem methanol, i dyno the car with four wheel drive caused it was spinning on the dyno and made 372whp
I just knew it would explode.... love 1.8t
Just sold my GLI 1.8T a month ago and bought a Tacoma… I’m happy with my Taco but damn all I ever did with my Jetta was a drop in K04 and full bolt on, wished I did more before selling it. But time to move on. Cool video
Thanks, enjoy the new ride.
Love seeing these 1.8 making power.. I’ve seen plenty of these make over 450whp stock block. It’s very possible to do it safely.. i been on this setup in my b5 a4 running for 7 years at 480whp 🙏🏽
We made a lot more than this. Keep watching the series.

Well I guessed 418 WHP 330 Lb/ft but not for very long and you managed to beat that so well done. You might be getting some wheel spin on the dyno, I could see smoke off the tyres and running in a lower gear certainly helps the rods.
Looking forward to your trip to Mexico. Keep it out of 5th gear and don't bother with any two step or anti lag that will only end badly. At least you might not have to clean the mess off the dyno if it pops on the road.
yeah 2 step is definitely not happening. lol
Loving the Jetta front on this golf
damn sounds brutal, i want it
Clayton fearlessly going towards the motor(with the camera) when the run is going on, was indirectly suggestive that the motor wasnt going blow, lol.
Honestly you've actually put the 1.8 T on the map god I'd love you to map my golf 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Nah, this stuffs been done before. We just went about it in a fun manner. :)
Nice I knew it could be because Mike hood had similar numbers years back on stock internals as well but in the Audi a4 1.8t
We made 600whp with this one. This video us older.
Sick video .. always great content from you guys... with your experience with the 1.8t in these .. what would you say would be the max you can push on a stock one and daily drive it reliably ? I was thinking around 270 hp.
I cover it in the video.
My friend got one with K03's and 270hp without any problem it's his daily
That was epic 🙌 Engine looks like it’s about to jump out loool
Definitely is.
Literally kind of what I want to do with my stock longblock Jetta 1.8t. But I only want roughly 360-380hp and low torque just cuz I’m too lazy to put rods in lol. When income tax comes around. I might just have to make an appointment and a personal trip out to you guys to get this done for me

I waited for this video to drop forever lol I think I might have guessed the hp close-ish lol
Maybe closeish but we had a few real close. Thanks for watching.

I have an Audi A3 with 1.8T AGU engine, with haltech Elite ECU, and 2 stage of nitrous with 500 hp with the stock engine per more that 2 years and work perfectly. I use knock control and e85 and with a good tune this car are almost bullet proof

Looking to start repairing/tuning my 1.8t. Could I ask what software do you recommend?
All depends on the setup, what the vehicles used for and the goals overall. So it varies.
Awesome video.
Do a mk4 2.0 add a turbo
Or 2.5 / turbo.
These videos make me want more for my 2.0 lol
Requested next step: To make it more fun by keeping it in boost between gear shifts, swap in a DSG from a 2.0T + tdi flywheel.
I was thinking the same 🙋♂️
Thanks for the idea, but it will be dead before then. lol

you're not lying.
You guys should do a stock Afp Vr6 turbo stock intake manifold 🤣 would be cool till about 15-20psi when the manifold blows out 🤣
been working on installing a Maxxecu onto my 2002 Golf its 2.0 but i also have a good 1.8t motor a spare 2.0 and a spare 1.8t head that im interested in putting onto my spare 2.0
Been interested in the EMU black, seen a guy use it on his Audi 80 2.2 10vt which is what I would be using it for as well
It's a great ecu for the money.
Would love to see a mild build aeg 2.0 pis rods cam spring pump. On nod.. 2.0l really suck but have a nice block and cranck
Yeah I made 700whp on that block and crank with a 16v head.
Sounds nasty, I love it
The 1.8t AGU blok is lengedary in its own way, common mods Decat - Downpipe - intercooler - Chip = 220hp and these runs easiler for 500.000km its, perfect daily beater which last for years and cheap parts are available still in 2022. Can recomment for anyone looking for a first car or just your daily.
I know both Billy and boostfactory made high 400s about 15 years ago using an AEB. Those threads and image links on vortex are long dead at this point though.
AEB definitely isn't the same due to larger ports in head and intake manifold, also larger pins. However I believe Billy's was a small port head and 19mm at least not sure about intake manifold and TB. He did 461whp with nitrous but I can't find the dyno sheets to know what it did for torque.
I thought Billy T made 491 then it broke a rod

Made more power than most 1.8T on this channel with built motors 😂
I wonder what the max would be with cheap drop in rods without trashing it…any ideas on figures ?? What’s the plan for this now ?
Only because those are client cars and we care about their longevity. Obviously if they didn't care we'd push them way further. Also Ethanol which we're running this car on isn't available at the pumps here so tuning customers cars on it isn't much of an option.
No offense if Kyle is your friend but I don’t watch him anymore. I prefer your channel and the way you go about things. Keep it up and thank you.
INSANE ON A STOCK SET OF RODS & STOCK VALVETRAIN
Yep lol
Gr8 job guys, really gr8 job. But i'm really surprised with late spool of that gtx, is that garrett bb turbo or some china stuff?
I'm tuning it that way to stay alive. Spools much quicker than that.
@@COMotorsports ouh, ok so you're keepin it on low boost intentionally until it cathches some rpms? Smart :)
Yes I'm tuning it to be lazy, however I just realize you're looking at the dyno graph. I'm starting the runs at like 2500rpm... this isn't realistic and you'd never start driving a car on the road in 3rd or 4th gear and go wide open throttle from 2500rpm. You'd be in a lower gear which would mean the turbo would be much more alive when switching into the next gear. I'm starting low so I can really see what's going on with boost... which on the dyno graph makes it look even worse. I should have explained this in the video but here we are. lol
@@COMotorsports lol, you're right, no one will just put pedal to the metal in 4th gear on 2000 rpm :) neverthless, I'm surprised that engine is holding, to be honest, road will be real test, there's basically no resistance on dyno, but even this is unbelivable result :)
@@GocaKresic the dyno replicates the road near perfectly in this car. That drum us 3000lbs. So no different then lugging itself down the road.
These motors can handle plenty of power. Its torque spikes that bend rods. All about a perfectly dialed in tune with a turbo that has some lag. Ive seen several others try this in the past and pretty sure they made higher numbers and survived for decently long because of having a perfect tune and slow spooling turbo to save the rods.
We're looking for proof. So if you have any sheets please forward them on. We know of at least one that's higher but looking for any data.
that’s mint
I really hope the plugs was changed and maintained was done this is amazing I love it. I always knew these cars can handle a fuck Ton
