@@roseamberzine5846 Harry was advised to slow down his romance with Meghan and get to know her better. He wouldn't listen. In the Royal Family, you can date actresses but you can't marry them. That was what Prince Philip told Harry. Harry just turned his back on his family's advice. He would have done better with someone who is not a pathological narcissist liar like Meghan.

No, Princess Margaret could still marry Peter W. Townsend as well as keep her title & royal stipends along with the royal duties.
Her elder sister, i.e. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II & the Prime Minister R. Anthony Eden did agree to give their blessings - Eden was more sympathetic compared to his predecessor (Winston L. S. Churchill) as he was a divorcé himself like Townsend.
In fact, the British Government proposed to top-up Princess Margaret’s (1952) Civil List yearly allowance of GBP6,000 significantly by an additional GBP9,000 per annum should the marriage with Townsend go ahead - he after all still had to pay child allowance to his ex-wife.
Furthermore, the public by 1955 was generally supportive - people shouted cheers of encouragement when she passed by that she could “go on [&] do what you want!”
However, Princess Margaret apparently felt the caveats to the proposed marriage, i.e. losing her place as well as those of any of her children if she had any in the line of succession & the civil wedding condition as the Church of England was not to be involved were not worth it.
“I have been aware that, subject to my renouncing my rights of succession, it might have been possible for me to contract a civil marriage.
But, mindful of the Church’s teaching that Christian marriage is indissoluble, and conscious of my duty to the Commonwealth, I have resolved to put these considerations before any others.
I have reached this decision entirely alone, and in doing so I have been strengthened by the unfailing support and devotion of Group Captain Townsend.”
      - Monday, 31st October 1955
What happened in May 1978 was different, i.e. she would not sacrifice her love for the Crown this time & became the first royal to divorce since King Henry VIII.

Maybe letting b Charles marry Camila. That would have been fine, but she should have passed the throne to William. It’s Camilla or throne, you ca t have boo. I think that was her only mistake. H/M but Wuenn was elderly, she probably fey King would deal with his son as she had to Andrew. But obviously he hasn’t. She would have been very angry at these unofficial visits to other countries. She would not have put up with that. She had a difficult dilemma with her sister , but at time she and parliament did the right thing. And Margaret still had a choice was not forced. Diana, was a difficult Mai because o don’t think Royals understood about mental illness back then line all of us. I think they just thought Diana an immature spoiled brat. When she did have serious issues. But long before she married into royal s. So royals can’t be fully to blame for that. Spencer’s knew Diana very well .

My considered opinion is different. Margaret would have drifted away from Townsend as she did with every one of her relationships. As was said of her, she was a princess who wanted to be treated as an ordinary person until the moment someone did, and then she instantly reverted to being a princess.
The reasons for quashing the proposed marriage may have been anachronistic and morally questionable, but I've never thought that Margaret would or could have everlasting love for anybody but herself.
