They are expensive dawg.... Wait until something you don't want to fail, fails. Wait until you see how much marinas cost for live aboard type vessels. Shit hurts the wallet 😂 BUT If you're not absolutely broke (if you have *A* job) you can have a boat, and get boating experiences
Hello from Texas. Loved the video. Just got a 1975 Sea Ray 240 Flybridge with twin 165 hp 4.1 Mercruiser engines and Pre-Alpha sterndrives. FREE! I would love to restore this boat as you have and have learned alot from your video. I will try to film the restoration if possible. Thank y'all for the presentation. The best I have seen. Keep up the good work.
I know Ross quite well and have followed his rip out and build since he bought the boat. He has even found the time to help me out on our boat from time to time. Top bloke all round and a great result for all his work. Dave.
This is a wonderful example of living the dream. Almost everyone wishes of a 'yacht -lifestyle but it truly is a rich man's sport. It doesn't have to be. If your willing to put in some sweat and get creative, you can do it!
90% of boaters are not millionaires with 80 footer and the latest and newest technology where you buy a 45 footer for $800K off the showroom floor. This is what boaters want to see and hear about a great job by both of you.
Thank you for a brilliant video, I thought I was the only person shouting in the wind but this video proves you don’t have to have mega bucks to have a decent boating life.
Hey from an ex Southampton Uni girl now in Australia. I have to say this is one of the most incredible boat refit I’ve ever seen and I’ve watched 100’s. Bravo. So impressive. Fairline will be hunting you for CEO Such tasteful touches everywhere from the entertainment suite to the personalised toilet bags. Go you!
Remarkable job ! Inspiring stuff. I’ve seen many meet the owners videos with different degrees of modification/refurbishment but this beats them all (including the 60ft sunseekers)!
I have just restored and made electric a 50's motor boat and the pleasure and satisfaction achieved by Ross and I when completed far outweighs taking out a cheque book and buying new.
If you're looking for a boat that doesn't cost the earth brand new. This would be the way to go but you need to be aware it will need hard work and good planning. That's what Ross did with a few tweaks. Have fun sailing Ross after all your hard work. More please Hugo please I'm sure lots of people would be interested in refitting their older boats.
Amazing, he should be proud of his achievements. I wish i had the patience / skill (although the fact he's an naval engineer certainly helped keep the costs down with regards to the engines).
Outstanding and inspiring, thank you. So far this last 18 months of COVID lockdowns I’ve learned to wood panel walls, make curtains, tile bathrooms, fix plumbing and install electrical sockets, next up find a boat to refit I think..
Very interesting video and an excellent job done. Colour scheme on the interior I'd probably be a more traditionalist and re lacquered the wood work, but then it's all personal taste. The vinyl work is top notch and the seamless effect worth the effort and rolls of vinyl.😀. I wish you good sailing and fair weather.
What a fantastic refit. Incredibly thorough. You make it sound so easy!!! I’m 15 years into my refurb of my 100 years old Dutch barge where I live and have only scratched the surface😅😅 no end in sight but loving it. Got loads of fab ideas from yours. Congrats on such an amazing job. Truly inspirational. 👋👋
well done ross and hugo.this was excellent.i admire your patience ross.it just shows how determined one can get and do for what they precisely want.amazing will power.she is a credit to you..
Is this the one that has been down at the marina a number of years ? If so I know this old girl from passing. These are special to me as myself and my dad were about to purchase one just before he passed away and so have always wanted one since then, I live in Milton would love to see her at some point.
@@Spiderella2 Hi mate, so sorry for the delay in reply been so busy, do you still have the boat ? and if so would it still be ok to come down sometime ? the Mrs has been bending my ear to come down, many thanks.
I did the same with a 85 Princess P35. It had Volvo penta TAMD 41A When i Got it. I swapped in Volvo penta TAMD 61A. Changed some interior and modern raymarine stuff. Made 12500Pounds.
I love the Corniche - classic looks and actually a sensible size for smaller UK harbours….I’d love to do something like this but not sure I have the skills or patience! There are some superb ideas - it’s really great what he did for his daughter too! Lucky girl….
What a lovely boat! So much charm! This gentleman should be a boat designer :D Nice contemporary design that will be adequate for years, plus that double room, WOW. What a value for money amazing amazing amazing
Man i loved the project and the video ! Great job, me and My friend plan to do the same and your video is really helpful !! I would love to get in touch with you so We can discuss a bit ! Shout out from France !
Great video Hugo - as some have already eluded to, this is boating at its finest. Great job Ross, hope you have many a happy years on what is a cracking refitted classic. 👏🏼
Wow. Its Dolphin Star (later renamed Jojin)- I remember her being on oil drums in Birdham Pool in the early 90's. I was told by a chap from BA Peters she came in from Nigeria - she had tyres as fenders. Good to see she is still going. Had petrol V8's (seized), then twin AQAD40's, then AQAD41's - fine motors. She was featured in motorboats monthly mag as part of thier Corniche feature around late 90's..that owner restored her from her eledged African days and fitted the Aqad40's..and the the aqad41's (look like Bs?)..she was on 290 drives with single props when the V8's were fitted - assume the chap in the 90's fitted duoprops. Shame about the painting over of the waxed teak interior - each to thier own though - she was so abused in her early life and good to see her still going.
Just add, in case the owner is reading, the magazine she had a small feature in was Motorboats Monthly January 2000. Oh how I miss Motorboats Monthly...
Bloke is an absolute legend. Throughly impressed!
"If you can put a shelf up you can refit a boat."
- *Naval Engineer* Ross Barrett
The shelves have collapsed, _again!_ - my wife.
This was one of the best, most interesting and inspiring boating videos I've watched in a while. Well done Ross! 👍🏿
my excuse of "boats are expensive" is no longer a reason for not having one....awesome restoration.

Dude, what a superb job. All that from 31 feet!
Fair play to Ross. That's a pretty huge refit done on a shoestring budget.
90% of boaters are not millionaires with 80 footer and the latest and newest technology where you buy a 45 footer for $800K off the showroom floor. This is what boaters want to see and hear about a great job by both of you.
Agreed. Bring back Motorboat Monthly magazine.
💯
Thank you for a brilliant video, I thought I was the only person shouting in the wind but this video proves you don’t have to have mega bucks to have a decent boating life.
I have been on this boat. It's as nice in real life as the film suggests. And that new fridge doesn't half keep the beer cold!
superb man after my own heart doing all the work himself
Massive respect to this guy, imaginative and practical, what a boat for the budget!?!?
Unbelievable. Jaw dropping.
A labour or love but what a remarkable job where hard work, a bit of ingenuity meets serendipity. Well done!
Thank tou Motor Boat and Yachting what a show this time I am blowing away witd this refit wow hope you do more of this kind of shows in the future
What a talented guy ! You maybe need to start a custom boat shop. Seriously!

Firty one fousand and fred bare carpets, you done well .😂😂😂😂😂😂
Let's appreciate that transom step! That's a high quality job!
Very impressive. I watched a refit of a Squadron 58 for £90k earlier, which was nowhere near as impressive as this one. Well done!!
Stunning refit. I'm refitting a house boat myself on RUclips and must say it'a lot of work but so rewarding.
Remarkable job ! Inspiring stuff. I’ve seen many meet the owners videos with different degrees of modification/refurbishment but this beats them all (including the 60ft sunseekers)!

W O W Well done!!! Its beautyfully done!!!! Great inspiration ! Michael from Sweden
Ross is a genius and should work for Fairline. I was wondering if he could come to Corfu and refit my battered old Princess 37 for 10k?
Excellent boat, and excellent meet the owner show, this fairline Corniche one of the best boat even in today's models for the size
just came across this video all i can say is Amazing what a job well done sir
Can we come back in 5 years to see how things have stood up?
That was simply amazing!! 😳👍🏻
Great video, interview and tour!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your kind comments
Wow. Fantastic! Amazing job and such a phenomenal transformation!
Ross, if you ever decide to sell please let me know 😎
Brilliant refit, beyond a refit tbh. Just wonderful! Esp for the price, and for keeping an old(er) boat on the water!
That's some transformation, fair play to him.
Brilliant attitude, gorgeous boat and very inspiring video 👏👏👍🇬🇧❤️

Really enjoyed this one! 👌 talented bloke would love to see that in the flesh! What a build!!
As others have said, one of the best tours yet! Creative and engaged owner has yielded a very nice boat that normal people can aspire to actually own.

Thats awesome. What a terrific job and so innovative in thinking

Great video!!! Great work! I hope vinyl is still strong in its place and not sagging
Great content loved it!
Brilliant. I love the engineering behind this. What’s his day job?
He's literally a Naval Engineer.
@@darthkek1953 nope. I worked in the naval base for my career in various roles but not for a while now. Now a project director.
@@Spiderella2 sorry, former. All I read was the intro description. Lovely job you did on the boat btw.
Totally awesome results, Ross is brilliant!
Really good effort there! I have just started that exact same journey with a 1979 Fairline sedan so will be taking notes 📝
Good luck with it
Good luck, I hope you will be documenting it. I love watching restoration videos.
Thanks folks for doing some refit videos for us folks with classic boats.
Wow, well done that man.
fantastic job Ross. thinking of going on this journey myself !!
Well done, brilliant refurb
