He robbed Fusako of her childhood. Sounds like he wanted another person in his life, like a little sister, but kidnapping is not the way.
I'm so glad that there was no SA.
xdrI still find it strange that his mom and dad didn't know. Poor Fusako, I can't imagine her fears, thoughts about her family, and if she will ever see them again.
The kidnapping charge of first offence is ludacris, and the attempt to KIDNAP before didn't count?? Yeah the police and the investigators funked up big time!
Glad she's home and wasn't physically harmed except for the Stun Gun. They should have added an extra nine years he stole from her.
She lost nine years of her life, her friends, Holidays and school trips, time that she will never get back.
His actions most definitely will affect Fusako's developing years and that is not fair.

The mother would have been 70-80 years old while she was there and the father was dead I’m pretty sure just so yk
let’s not blame the mother for what he did to Fusako, the mom did everything she could’ve done by trying to report her own son for abuse, i don’t think she would’ve been scared to do the same for a little girl that was also being abused by her own son. I put full blame on the authorities AND the people who were supposed to do a domestic violence investigation
Literally no one is blaming the mother. She is the victim and she tried to reach the authorities which they didn't take it seriously.

If the community is so small I don’t see why the police didn’t suspect this man in the area with a criminal record for attempting to kidnap a young girl😪🤨
this case on it's own is so incredibly tragic and breaks my heart into pieces. but what's so despairingly sad is that in 2007 her father drowned in a pond where they went together for fun, i can't even imagine how much pain she's gone through 💔

i am glad that the times have changed tho. I am only 15 and my father is now 61. but no one ever teases me over it at school. its sad to hear it used to happen. Also im happy that my dad n me have a good relationship

If a man ever raises a hand to his own mother or to a helpless woman, animal or child, he immediately deserves prison. He's pretty much set to be a murderer at that point.
But especially his own mother. You know his mind is gone at that point.
I feel like this goes for everyone
Not JUST a man. It applies FOR EVERYONE. It's stupid to only ban it for one side when both sides can be bad- plus, abusers can be male or female, doesn't matter. It's better to condemn it for everyone, so ppl get punished fairly. The "if a man does this" mindset is why women tend to get off easier.
I can only imagine what her mother felt while cooking the first meal for her daughter that she hadn't cooked for in so long. I also can only imagine how hard it would've been to get used to big meals because I used to have an eating disorder and this probably was physically similar where there's so much nausea because the body isn't used to it. The tragic detail news would never share is that chronic malnutrition can cause chronic joint pain and I hope she didn't get that side effect. :(
The girl in the picture in 0:57 is Megumi Yokota, not Fusako Sano. She is also abducted but by North Korea. You can try searching her in wikipedia. She is still missing for 44 years already.

HE ROBBED HER CHILDHOOD IMAGINE ALL THE THINGS SHE COULDNT HAVE FUN AND DEVELOP HER LIFE AND I AM SO MAD ABOUT IT BECAUSE NOONE SHOULD EVER ROB YOU OF YOUR CHILDHOOD. this is horrible and the police was HORRIBLE and so was the government.
japanese justice system is so fucked. they sentence a woman to death out of only weak circumstantial evidence and pressure from the public and then sentence a man who kidnapped a little girl and kept her hostage in horrible conditions for 9 years to 14 years 💀
and as for the mother, i have a feeling she knew and her constant calls to the police about her son werent only to help her… obviously she was also a victim and most likely very scared of him, so i feel like it was her way of indirectly helping her? she hoped they would find fusako when they arrived maybe? i got that feeling at least

Oh man, this is so heart breaking. I thing she should be able to be a kid, to play and enjoy that part of life. I don't care how old she is. I feel like that could help her recover the time she was robbed of. I hope she continues to do well.

It’s so easy to get kidnap in Japan, especially with all the kids walking home from school alone
I always think about this! I live in Okinawa and it makes me nervous every time I see kids walking completely alone.
I heard that the crimes rates are very low there, so its pretty safe for small kids to walk alone, idk

I live in Kenya and kids here also walk to and from school on a daily in fact this is normal in the majority of the world. Only in the west did I first see kids being dropped and picked up by their parents.
it's hard for me to believe that the mother did not know what was going on or at least had suspicions but i think that maybe, she was too damaged by the abuses of her son to have the courage to take actions and i think that's why she called the mental health services so often, so that they would, in her place.

You will be the reason he stays mentally young, and he will give the support and wisdom that only comes with age. You two take care of each other.
I feel like older dads make for better ones. Every older dad I knew daughters adored them. Always a daddy’s girl and my dad was 18 when he had me and made many mistakes. But I know he needs to get more seasoned ✨ in life to get there

I watched the whole thing which got me really pissed off not only because of what happened to Fusako but also the mother's situation. Fork the police, you know. They were useless. *Sigh*
Pretty glad that Fusako reunite with her family and the culprit has been caught. Geez staying there for 9 years is obviously a torture.

Wherever Fusako is, I really hope that she is doing okay despite everything that happened to her. This case is honestly just sad. Its just crazy to think though, how so many of these cases could have been solved had the authorities just done their jobs!
