Love them square body’s my first car was pickup truck. 1979 short box. 33 years later just pick up a 1985 for my retirement restoration project. Good luck with your back. Been there done that.
I bought a new motor for my 79 GMC, a 350. It worked out great. I put over a hundred thousand on it before I sold it a few years ago. I should of kept it but I didn’t. Enjoyed it. Y’all have a good-un.
Looking good, plus it’s got your name on it, old school I am 65 , back in the 70s and 80s good old days!!!! Thank you for sharing check on you all tomorrow have a great thanksgiving!!!!
had many over the years and loved every one ,personally i put a push bar brush guard on the front and that year looks good with a rollbar with the lights on it they make lights that move now so they not only can face the front but can be used loading also . i love the idea keep the paint . God bless im 5 inches shorter due to back injuries so is life you play the hand dealt
God blessed me with a very good daddy and he left me a 1984 Chevy Silverado limited edition with glasspack mufflers I think of him when I get in it and drive it I really like it I'll get to see him again in Heave in heaven😇n one day I miss him so much he was such a good man and a cool guy I just love my Daddy I still have my Mamma thank God😇
I had a 84 square body 4x4 for several years, sold it in 97 and still regret it to this day. I loved that old truck, faded paint was it’s only flaw but I liked it character.
Nice looking 84. I have a 78 Suburban and I am fixing the issues that the previous owner messed up. I am also putting a BBC back in this vehicle. I will also reinstall the Hydroboost brake system and locker rear differential as I am able to.
Great truck, Brian. I have a 72 Chevy short bed 4x4. I saw some earlier comments about going with an LS3. I would have to agree. You get unbeatable modern reliability and you don't have to fix something every time you drive it. I don't know about you but I've had my fill of wrenching every weekend LOL! That's the rout I'm going.
Glad to see you doing better Brian. Ol 84, I loved those trucks. Don't know much about those motors but hard to beat a engine with warranty. I like that you aren't going to do a lot to the truck its sharp like it is. Happy Thanksgiving and see yall next time
I got a 87 square body. Last year they were made .It came with t.b.i.throttle body inj. Fuel pump inside tank stop working...been sitting in tall grass waiting on fuel pump for years lol ( long bed) enjoy your truck and get legs better 😉
Good looking truck Brian, grew up on that body style and still have a blazer and step side. Love driving them and my daughter is a high school teacher and we take the roof off the blazer for homecoming parade and she drives it with a couple in the homecoming court. Very interested in watching videos on your progress on this truck.
I have its Georgia cousin. 86 Scottsdale 2 tone midnight blue and silver. Swapped the 305 4 speed for 454 auto and went with holley sniper efi. fun trucks you're enjoy it
Great looking truck Brian, sorry to hear about ur back trouble, I know Jason has suffered long and hard with his back problem we hope and pray you don't have the same, Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the Hollis family from here in England. 👍
Glad that your back is doing better, and you are on the road to recovery.! That is AWESOME ol' Chevy Brian!!! They DEFINITELY don't make trucks like that anymore!!! Cant wait to see it all cleaned up, and ready to roll!!! Hope ya'll have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving, and God Bless all!!!!🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃👍🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏
Dang nice little truck. Bryan be careful for about a full year with that back.. it can be susceptible to popping another disc if you put to much pressure on it too soon. Be careful. I did that and had to have second surgery about a year and a half later. Good luck and God bless.
Looks almost identical to my 87 Silverado ,mines red and silver same orange colored pin stripe, could’ve sold mine literally 100 times in 17 years I’ve had, guy I bought it from still wants it back to after I put a chrome diamond plate winch bumper on it and a Ramsey 8000 winch same hoop steps you got and a 4” lift deep bottom aluminum tool box, I like that seat in yours, I had mine recovered for $300 with grey cloth, looks like original 🤙🏼
Good morning Brian!! If you need anything for it, I suggest go on east coast auto they have a couple on there for sale running condition. Have a great day ❤
Yeah man anytime! I'm like you wish I kept my ole 74. Nice truck and place you have there. Wish I was on some of your and Jason's hunting adventures. Y'all have some nice places and deer. Good luck to the rest of y'all's season!
Yup...15's hard to find, and those 16.5's are harder to find. I finally let go of my 85' Suburban, factory quad suspension, handled like a Porsche on curves. No rust, sat since the heart attack, but made plenty of runs to Alabama to hunt. Still have Leon the 78' FJ-40 Landcruiser since 81' or 82'. Get your motor figured out on what you want. She's a beauty, hard to find. Grandkids are gonna love riding with grandpa!!!
I'm sorry you're back hurts or you're in pain I hope you feel better soon they probably gave you can log 40 That's not spelled right but it's a steroid I've had shots of that too in my back be careful of the steroids if you can because they cause bone degeneration so I was told the Good Lord 😇can always fix anything and thank you for this video😊
Brian I've been a mechanic for 35 years and have done a lot if motors, Check out Frazier Engine s, they have a 5 year warranty and a really fair price compared to Jasper. We've probably used 50 or so at my shop with no problems at all.
Brian, check with jegs and summit, they usually stock brand new long block gm crate engines with a 3yr/50k warranty. Beautiful Truck, Happy Thanksgiving to the Hollis Farms Family
If you want to make it near new talk to Bryan Harrison at Harrisons Rod Shop he in TN. He specializes in these trucks and does a vintage motor for them with modern internal etc,
Nice truck buddy. I just traded my dad my 92 Silverado for a 77 c 10 Chevy lookn forward to dumping some cash into it also they r fun trucks to work on simple and reliable also
Good morning. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family. Pending how the original builder built the motor, a valve train job. Pending the cost vs. Drop in crate motor ready to go. LMC, Classic Truck are two places to shop. Chevy Performance is the old GM Performance. Offroad Design out in Colorado I believe, they've got upgrades for lifted GM vehicles. Some not all are prone to cracking the frame at the steering gear box. Old Square Bodies are like AR's, adult legos, mild to nuts.
Brian look at Summit Racing or Jegs for the GM SP350/357 crate engine. Part number 19433033. It's a great option for a replacement engine for that beautiful truck! My uncle had one like it and his wife sold it after his passing. Still kicking myself for not buying it.
Sweet truck. I think they came factory with like 165 hp. so I'd stick a 5.3lt LS in it that comes factory with 320 hp. If you could find a kinda newer wrecked 4x4 Chevy truck from like Copart's with lower miles on it and got it for the engine/trans/transfer case/ECU, and whatever other parts you'll need off of it and stuck that stuff in there it would be really sweet and have more HP and get better fuel mileage. Like 5 and 10 more miles per gallon. City/highway.
All right that's a sweet ride you can get a motor right from Chevy I would love an old square body the only thing that sucks is gas is too much to pay to put in it
I'd do a gm crate engine. They offer alot different applications with decent warranty. Never had any luck with jasper engines.Several aftermarket performance companies offer gm crate engine.
Nice truck, I was trying to buy my first new vehicle in 1985 and my local dealer had the exact truck , 1 yr old new on the lot and wouldn't come off the price 😡
