Just got a 2004 Aliner a couple of weeks ago, which led me to your channel .Have watched 3 of your videos so far, and must say I'm quite impressed. From design to execution. I already see a couple of your ideas that I probably will use,and I'm sure will be more. Thank you.
Glad you're finding some useful stuff 😁. I've many many mistakes, but all mistakes can be fixed or be made better. Just takes willingness...or in my case, a bit of stubbornness.
@@NicciOfArnold I'm 65 and I've done carpenter work,of all types all my life,so I know about mistakes ! Call it willingness, stubbornness,or whatever you like,I'm still very impressed with the results. I got mine as a hobby,to have something to do with my time.[retired ] So I won't be doing nearly as detailed a remodel as you.Mainly because of the monetary investment.I will be selling it when I'm through, and don't intend to put more in it than I can sell it for. Thanks
We just bought a 2010 Classic and have only spent one night in it so far. Love what you’ve done with yours and you’ve given me a few ideas especially with those hard factory beds. Looking forward to our new retirement hobby.
This just showed up on my recommended videos list. What a super job you've done and I love how bright it looks and great workmanship on your part! I have a Chalet a-frame and a few of your ideas will make it into my camper. Well done and looking forward to more videos.
Nice job! What a bright and stylish camper you've created for yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing your travels. I immediately swiped the cargo net map holder idea for my A-Frame pop-up camper. Be very proud of this, it's super!
Just found your channel and finished binge watching your ALiner series. I don't have an ALiner but enjoyed watching all your repairs and mods. I see it's been a while since your last post and I hope you will be posting more soon.
Thank you Tom 😁. I have actually been out enjoying all the camping and have been working on the van conversion as well. Got out of the habit of just taking the time to post more pictures and videos.
I still have some things to button up since I'm getting it ready for inspection in a couple of weeks. Not sure if I will do a cold weather campout or wait til Spring.
Hi Nicci, just finished watching all of your aliner restoration videos, and loved them all. I’m at a lose, scratching my head. No finished video of the actual completed project? Was hoping to see the actual trailer all set up and done up.
@@dang.7950 I'm so sorry to not have kind of concluded that series. Life happened and I ended up selling the Aliner to my sister and built out a Promaster that I have been thoroughly enjoying the last 5 years. I hope to do a full van tour in the near future. The Aliner rebuild taught me so much and that I carried into the van build 😁
I'm very impressed! Great job 👍! I'd love to see how you do the curtains and cushions in the dinette. Keep them coming! Can't wait to go virtually camping with you! I have an 02 Aliner Expedition.
That's sweet. Some nice upgrades. Very well thought out. I love seeing stuff I never would have thought to do. And fyi, those 'pistons' are called struts.
Hi, thanks for the informative videos, how did you fit the 3/4 inch plywood in the sides? The outside channel has 1/2 inch clearance. Did you cut the walls or replace the aluminium? I am currently doing the same makeover with new floor, cabinets and basically an entire rebuild. Also how did you pry up the lower walls from the frame without damaging them? Did you remove the upper sections first? Thanks again for your videos.
Since the 3/4 inch plywood was a little less than the actual 3/4 inch, I was able to get them in under the walls. I did use pieces of wood as spacers to maintain the gap between the walls and the trailer frame as I pulled the floor out which I did in sections, not all at once. I did not have to replace the aluminun nor cut the walls. The spacers worked well. And when the new floor was in place, I screwed the aluminum lip which was 4 inches long to the new plywood flooring underneath instead of the staples and tape they originally used. And yes, I removed all the staples and tape first and foremost which might have helped me gain the clearance I needed in using the 3/4 plywood versus the 1/2 inch particle board that was originally in place.
@@NicciOfArnold Thanks for replying - your videos with the trial and tribulations on have been super helpful!! Currently, I have cut the floor out leaving the H frame to wall in tact. As for cleaning out under the walls - I discovered that an oscillating saw with a multi blade (1" wide) neatly shears off staples (so no laying on the ground and they come off with the peeling of silicone) and demolishes and cuts the OSB board without damage to the frame and aluminum flashing. it even cleans out the seals under the door. A reciprocating saw will cut the frame cross members with even with a wood blade, in that lesson, I put it away. I am using West Marine 105 Epoxy on the marine plywood at about 3 coats , but also plan on installing treated 2 x4 along the frame (cross bolted) to provide a better , and still lightweight joist for the floors and add some additional braces for the 4' open area in front and back. Also Marine plywood tends to warp more, so more screws are needed. I was going to install 3 pieces for the floor, but now going to install smaller sections to easily replace the damage section in the future, Thanks to your insight. I am going with your undercoating idea as well and looking at the new aliners - they are doing the same thing (they stole your idea lol). Additionally, with the new joists installed, I plan on dropping Styrofoam board insulation in the floors at 3 1/2" in the new space below the floor and seal it with sectional aluminum sheeting on the underside. Thank you so much for taking the time to document your repairs. It has been immeasurably helpful!
I used Rustoleum stone textured paint in Stone Pebble. Got it at Walmart 😁. I did lay down 3 to 4 coats for absolute complete coverage before I did the resin over the top. I wanted the coloring of the texture paint but the smooth glass finish of the resin.
Hi... what size is the bed? We're looking to replace the wood with a single sheet but are having trouble as the width is 58 inches. Was it put together with multiple sheets?
We r looking into aliners. Do u know if u can paint the cabinets? The one we r looking to buy has dark cabinets which makes it feel really small inside. I wanted lighter shade cabinets, but I don't want to build them if u can paint them. If I CAN paint them, what kind of paint do I look for?
@@atgirl I painted mine for that very reason, to make it feel roomier. I probably should have sanded the surfaces first but I didn't. I ended up priming first and then painted with an exterior semi gloss paint for the durability of the exterior paint.
Nope. I used the equivalent of whiteboard that came in 4 ft x 8 ft sheets. Very light and inexpensive and is basically a fiberboard white a shiny white top coat on it.
Please make some more Aliner videos. We can’t wait to see how everything worked out.

Man, I was digging watching this rebuild. So bummed no follow up video of it being used in the wild. It's like a series that gets cancelled, Lol.

Hi... what size is the bed? We're looking to replace the wood with a single sheet but are having trouble as the width is 58 inches. Was it put together with multiple sheets?
Yes, it is multiple pieces of wood because it's almost a full size mattress.
I'm assuming an overlap to make a full 59 x 76 (ish) sheet

Looks great I just got started on mine. When you redid the ceiling board did it make it heavier to lift up?
Nope. I used the equivalent of whiteboard that came in 4 ft x 8 ft sheets. Very light and inexpensive and is basically a fiberboard white a shiny white top coat on it.
If you recall what kind of boat pedestals/Poles did you use?
It was this table leg on Amazon...Russell by Edelbrock MA-939 Chrome 27-1/2" Table Leg a.co/d/7Bfe7EM
And it was 2 of these bases (for floor and under the table) from Amazon...Edelbrock MA-1119 CHROME Exposed Round Table Base a.co/d/2ZRdHh8
I'm #90 😂 great job
Great job on renovating I have a 1962 Shasta and I’ve been considering a Aliner because of its ease of towing. Do you tow yours with a pickup or suv?
At first my tow vehicle was an SUV, now it's a Promaster cargo van.
is this a Scout ALiner? Or what model?
It's a 1999 Aliner and back then I believe it was called a DX model. It's close to the current Aliner Classic model.
Nice work
