Omg; finally someone painted the inside of an A frame. They are a camper I have considered buying. But you are absolutely right; the color made the space feel some comfortable instead of that dull cream color. That would of been the first thing I would have done. I am Native American; African and Latino; so it is wonderful to see people from all walks of life enjoying the nomadic lifestyle. Awesome!

This camper is adorable! What a big difference it must’ve been from the car to the trailer. Having grown up Glamping, my question to you is, do you ever have problems with bears sniffing around? And also I would imagine it’s not that insulated, so you must be extremely hearty to have not use the air conditioner at all and rarely use the heater. Much respect. I think I’m too much of a wuss. I’m glad you’re having fun out there and meeting new people and enjoying life and finding out who you are. That’s always a good thing. Thank you for your tour

Firstly, congratulations on following your dream!! Your set-up seems to be very well thought out and balanced to meet your needs and goals. Very manageable, yet still very comfortable and homey. Your main reason for doing this is to be able to get to know and understand yourself through solitude in beautiful outdoors locations that you love to be in. That's all good in every way, incredibly healthy actually. I'm sure your family can see the good this is doing for you. Like you said, just have good situational awareness and take all of the precautions to stay safe as a woman alone. You will meet many good people out there who you can build a "trail family" with who will enrich your outdoors adventures in lots of ways!! You are so courageous for actually blazing this trail in your life!! Thank you for sharing your story and Best Wishes for You!! 😊

I had an Airliner classic when I first started towing a tiny RV. I never lived in it like you do. I belong to a national group of Women Campers who started out with Aliners and then switched to whatever. I ended up with an R pod. There are a couple Facebook pages which you have probably found for Aliner campers. I’m too old now, 80 years old with health problems, to keep on doing RV camping. Although I do still camp with a tent or a tiny one unit cabin. Keep doing what you’re doing because you apparently love it and it’s successful for you. I’m glad you have a supportive family and you’re very smart to start a Latinx group. Good luck with everything you’re doing.

Thank you for your video! I am a female who has a Subaru Forester and I have been looking high and low for a camper light enough to pull behind it. I have looked at this trailer on-line, but it is really nice to see someone with "stuff" in it and being able to use an electric/solar generator and a 2 burner camp stove. Exactly what I have planned to do.
I love the idea of painting the inside! It looks really lovely ;o)
I have a suggestion to keep the heat from coming in via the windows: The double sided foil insulation is supposed to deflect the sunlight really well. I have seen many people use velcro to put it up, but the bubble windows shades would probably hold it in just fine. You can use the ones that fold up like a fan and are meant to put in a car window...just cut out the size you need and glue a border on it, or use some pretty cloth to cover the side which is inside and make it like a picture. This stuff can also make your bed several degrees warmer on a cold day, when placed under your bed linens (Silver side up). I also saw someone suggest a dog gel pad which helps cool 5-10 degrees and she uses one for her and one for her dog (Coleman Comfort Cooling Gel Pet Pad - on Amazon).
Maybe one day we will cross paths and if we do I would be honored to visit with you and compare ideas...

We have a Rockwood A-frame trailer. It has a heat pump for the AC, so no unit on the roof. This means rhat we can keep our trailer in our garage and avoid storage fees. Ours is about 1800 lbs and longer.
We bought a metal shelf unit from the Container Store that has drawers that pull out. It sits on a counter space.
My husband also made two bars out of PVC that attach to the sides of the trailer--great for hanging up clothes. This also makes the trailer stronger in case you have a high wind.
There is a national A-liner group, I think. By attending their conference, you would find even more great ideas.
BTW, we did find that you really need to make your trailer level before flipping it up. We use an Anderson leveler for one wheel and we have levels (with the bubbles) attached to three of the sides. A Casita would be easier in this regard, but we can't get that in our garage.

For taller people, the A-frame trailers that have the dormer that folds up on the front would probably work better. Of course, these will be heavier and longer.
I am "vertically challenged" so our smaller Rockwood A-frame is fine, but my husband has mentioned several times he would have liked more vertical space. We do put down the table to use as a second bed, so it gets cramped right next to the wall.

I don’t understand why it’s so bad that they mentioned “Latina” in the title. It helps other Latinos find the video when they want to hear from people who share their experience. Seems harmless and simple enough especially because Latinos are a statistically small proportion of people on the road. It’s a distinct feature and obviously something important to her too.

I had the very same camper. It was my first camper. Used it for 2 seasons. Then had to sell it due to covid/job situation. Now, I have the trailer I truly wanted. It’s called Casita (the Spirit Deluxe model). I named it Coquí. Has a wet bath and that has been sooo nice for me. I hate using public bathrooms/toilets. I did enjoy my Aliner. Many Casita owners were previously Aliner owners 😊. Mis mejores deseos 👋

I was wondering how she supports herself. Where does she put her dog as she goes grocery shopping? Does she have a secure lock on the hitch when she leaves her house? Nice small ALiner camper. She can use her SUV for additional storage, too. I like the thoughtful alterations (including paint) which makes this space her own. I would not have known she was Latina until she said it. My brother looks Latina but he is Scandinavian & German!! Thanks for the tour!

But you're not "colored"; you're WHITE. If a person saw you outside they would never know you're Hispanic. I know Hispanic ppl go through discrimination but being literally brown(myself where I LOOK black), I don't think it's because of your skin color? I think you should elaborate on what you meant to say ... because being white and acting like you know the struggles of being a poc in America is just cringe

    • @MxFourhournes
      @MxFourhournes 2 года назад +5

I can tell she’s Hispanic. Sure she presents closer to white but identity is created by more than how you look. It’s how you’re raised; how your environment engages with you. I know tons of people like her who are still discriminated against for being different from 2 fronts. They are not white but not white enough. Hate runs deep. Respect the individual experience.

Most discrimination is done by the way you look. You don't even have to say a word. If she went outside she'd never be mistaken for anything other than white. I do understand when they start talking people will THEN discriminate. But most racism and discrimination is done because of what you look like. You can easily "save" yourself from that trouble by seeing how they act on front of you before you even talk to them

"Hispanic" is now the same as "poc"? lol yeah those poor oppressed Spanish people. Some of you really think every white person looks Swedish or something, amazing. Boris Johnson is at a higher risk to get attacked for his heritage by random people who don't know who he is than this girl.

Usted salga a viajar en su Van y me dice cómo le ha ido

As a brown Latinx person, it’s always so interesting when a white Latina/o/x feels the need to call themselves a “person of color”. Do they feel like calling themselves white diminishes their Latinidad? Because we come in all shades of skin tone. It’s interesting, because I have a white sibling and we share the same parents, because DNA be like that. My sibling has no problem saying she’s white and addressing colorism. It’s just so interesting to me.

I think it's a cool thing for any and all humans to strike out on their own and hopefully start becoming individuals at the outset of their adult lives... I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
