Kent Whitaker Speaks Out About Son, Bart Whitaker, Being Spared From Execution | Megyn Kelly TODAY
Bart manipulated his family and killed them with every intention of killing his dad also. He did it again and got off death row. The psychopath never changes, no guilt, no remorse, great at reading people and knowing what they need to do their bidding. The dad was used; he felt guilt having a son who murdered, and grief, which never goes away. What an evil slime.
C_ Farther well said!!!
C_ Farther | Right !!
Are you dumb?
I totally agree. I thought I was the only one who thought the Dad was stupid or just plain in another world. Bart tried to have his family killed once before and his
father still could not accept that Bart is a psychopath.

@@clemencethomas2780 Agreed.

Ironically enough it's the countries who operates with the lightest sentences and with the emphasis on rehabilitation rather than punishments who have the lowest crime rates
The father is an enabler. He isn't special. He is pathetic. Revenge is a far more appropriate response to evil than forgiveness. This bs about forgiveness is beyond disgraceful.
@@ziudra91 Wrong. Japan and Singapore have two of the lowest crime rates and both have the death penalty. In countries with light sentencing, child killers get out after like 5 years. That is not justice! Revenge will always be better than forgiveness when it come to PURE EVIL.

I would understand if it was California but Texas?!? I just really don't understand how that sentence wasn't carried out..... from Oklahoma, where we have the death sentence too, the way I think it should be for ALL murderers; but, I think it should happen in a much more timely manner & not several years after he/she has been found guilty.

I completely agree, Kimberly. Once again, all of the focus is on the socipoathic murderer, nothing on the murder victims. How tragic.
THEY SHOULD'VE EXECUTED HIM. No reason ever to spare him. This father will pervert justice to feel good. His simplicity is the reason this happened. It is good to forgive, but to tamper with justice calls his entire morality into question. Texas has miscarried justice because they must now do the same for all similar cases which they won't. Selective justice is not justice at all. And this killer is the most deserving of capital punishment.
This whole family is just weird. I am not surprised they raised a monster. There is clearly no accountability in this family. It’s really disgusting. How does your calculation compare to death penalty costs?
Here's info from 2009 for Texas:

The numerous court costs including appeals, piles on the billable attorneys' fees for death row inmates.
Either way, both are an unfortunate waste and drain of taxpayer resources, in addition to taking away from society (in 2 ways: the crime and then the legal costs) instead of contributing to society with whatever skills you have.

He loved his wife and son, but he was fighting for backers in keeping his son alive. Putting the focus on his wife and other son would not help him save his son's physical life. My thing is just because his son 's physical life was spared is not necessarily God's hand. The devil can do this as well. Also, God forgives whether you die or live... I'm reading strange responses to this verdict. But yeah, I know what you mean.
MARYLE, I felt the same thing...very weird.
The father is focused on his only son that is still alive. His wife and young son are already dead. As a Christian, he left those in God's hands. He is a very forgiving person and God listened to his request and all the people that prayed for his killer son to be spared. This man is a very good Jesus follower. I admire him
If it was the father who died from the shooting , I'am sure the mother will do the same thing, she would never wanted her son to be executed . Normal parents will always be willing to die for their children , they will always be willing to take all the pain in this world for the sake of their children.
Bart is likely the only strand of complete sanity that this man has left, he lost his whole family in one night to a person he created. probably a lot of untreated ptsd going on here. it’s kinda like a child not wanting to let go of their oldest toy no matter how torn or dangerous it may be it will still hold emotional value, such as a child does to a parent no matter what that child has done and especially when the parent is alone and emotionally venerable.
I can’t imagine the pain of something like this. Wow.
Your really a father... Bow for you.. You make me cry...from Philippines❤❤❤❤
It's so sad that a man that admits to committing the crime, was spared his life, but a man that was innocent, was put to death, because the governor said "no" this justice system is pathetic
Death sentence should not be an option in the legal system.
Totally agree with you. I guess next Dylan Roof will be spared next.
The USA should just abolish the death penalty
Who?
I think life in prison penalty is far more miserable than dead sentence. On the other hand, this is the best gift for the dad who has nobody left but his heartless son. I don't think any parent can stand losing the only one child after losing already a wife and a son.
As a Christian I understand the power in forgiveness but man, I don’t believe that I could be that strong and forgive the perpetrator until years of healing. Truly that is unconditional love of a father. Wow. The fact that the governor stopped the execution and it was the one and only of his term, was definitely miraculous. I sure hope that even in prison, Bart turns his life around and does something great in his life.

Next up Bart will be expecting to get out and have Dad's money he worked so hard to get by manipulating his friends into killing Dad, Mom and the competition i.e. brother. The father better stop at having him in there for life and not fight anymore to have him out or he'll be everyone else's problem. I don't really care if Dad thinks he's all he has left and he wants grandkids through that thing. Keep it in the jail away from everyone else and adopt a good kid who appreciates you. Your DNA is not everything Dad.
I 100% agree with you. Well written…
The son's statement is very true and it seems he meant it ! He takes responsibility BUT commutation is not ideal...eye for an eye !
Part of being a good parent is to make your kids acknowledge their mistakes/errors or sins and have them deal with their consequences in order to LEARN. It is not to disguise, conceal or cloak their sins for them, by doing this you're part of the problem, you created a monster by rewarding bad behaviors!

ive been rabid pro execution. compared to the rest of those executed in texas his case was a slam dunk and was going to happen. I am conflicted about this because hundreds of convicted inmates were executed but in dealing with clemency it has not been fair. either we treat all death row inmates fair or get rid of the death penalty. I am still for executions but if we cannot be fair in litigation or clemency then we need to abolish the death penalty.
ranger082469 Valid point!
I dont think execution would be good anyway....
I do feel bad for the inmates executed without pleading father's...
I feel the death penalty should lie in the decision of the victims family. If a family member chooses their fate of life or death would be just! That also would be fair! If a family member can forgive to a point of giving them life in prison vs. death? I think it would be best! I support life sentence but I would also support a families choice of wanting death to avenge their loss!
The father is so excited that the son who killed his whole family will live?Interesting visiting your strange planet earthlings!
Story of the prodigal son
Omg why ? He had no mercy killing his sweet brother. Why let him live? Karma has to be paid one day!
Ritamay G I think life sentence is a harsher sentence he will see very slowly how much of his own life was wasted by his actions. I doubt he will ever care about his family but he definitely cares about himself.
@@sarahrulz8089 You're so right. He just acts like he "loves" his Dad. Otherwise, Bart would have zero ppl visit.
Death is freedom compared to his life in a cage.
Lifetime imprisonment is far the worst suffering than a 60 minute death execution.
Because killing is wrong, whether it’s murder or the state sanctioned killing of a murderer. The USA should abolish the death penalty like almost every other developed country.
Maybe the son wants to die...what about that? The son’s statement indicates that he had accepted the death penalty, and the son son is happy for his father about the commutation BUT not for himself. He still wants to die...so let him have peace. The son seems to be tortured inside. The father is projecting his hope and positivity on son...his son could really probably care less if he lives or dies. He’s still a dangerous individual. Hopefully, he never gets out of prison, because if he does, he’s going after his father again...
Nope he didnt. He clearly said that he didnt wanna die if that means leaving his dad high and dry.

God bless Kent! He has aged and you can see the pain and turmoil and I know he just couldn’t imagine his son dying even after what he had done. Because he has forgiveness in his heart.
That boy is an exact replica of his father. Both of them are so cold and hard hearted.
But not in a bad way or malicious way.
The man said it before, he saw a lot of himself in his son.
Probably why he did not see the dangerous way everything was looking or going.
All I can say is, at least he did not make them suffer before dying.
Question is,
Are these two really normal upstairs?! Don’t they have a few knots loosened up there??
How he forgave him easily?
How the son accepted his fate easily? Didn’t care about himself dying but wanted God to hear his fathers prayer ??
Waoh!!
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Watch the Oprah interview, the father was there to receive praise for forgiving his son not to be questioned about what signs he missed... something is not right with that man.
My goodness this father is a better person than I .. Not so sure that I could forgive. My thoughts are with the mother and brother.
God bless this men’s heart , I pray the Lord continues to cover him and his family and that our Lord helps his son change his ways. This is a truly heart breaking situation !
The fathers appeal to spare Bart should have only been granted on terms of when he dies, Bart is executed after.
Thats a good idea..
In that case Bart best be hoping that his Dad will out live him. To think a few years earlier, he wanted his Dad dead.
Lol
Very clever option indeed…
Huh. Could we all put our heads together and try to figure out why this particular person was spared by Mr Gov Abbott when he denied all others?? 🤔
It had to do with the dad's good heart., not his son's Bart. God read the dad's heart and answered his prayer. Forgiveness is a great thing! Romans 12:17 - "Return evil for evil to no one." I wonder what color and the financial status of the other family’s that tried unsuccessfully to get the death sentence changed to life in prison.
Every case is different, this case is certainly different in that the victims and perpetrator were family members, the only surviving member is this father, perhaps they thought that this man had been through enough and taking his only living family member away would be extremely cruel. Not sure why your bringing race into this!!

Kent has taken off the burden and pain that comes with hate, anger and unforgiveness. Now the burden is on Bart. He will never forgive himself. Imagine Kent dying from pain and frustration over losing his entire family Bart inclusive, again Bart would have won.
Life in prison might be harder than death by lethal injection. Imagine getting shanked.
lyn78sez 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I promise I didn't mean to laugh 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 but this is FN hilarious 😂😭
His son looks pretty effeminate so he wont mind.
A REAL MAN COULD NEVER BE THAT LENIENT TO ANOTHER MAN THAT MURDERED HIS WIFE
Well Done. Yes, & include ‘that murdered his other son too’
He showed love and forgiveness to his son who took so much from him and fought for him and his life
There is something off here. This man has a new wife and doesn’t seem to care that he could have saved his first wife and his other son had he taken the first death threat seriously. Absolutely outrageous! I
Well Done. At least a few of us are wide awake to reality…
If he was black or poor his death sentence would never have been overturned. There is no such "god" (NOTE THE LITTLE 'G') for the black and poor in our current judicial system.
Joyful Noise, thank you for your comment. I'm not sure what your response means so I'll further clarify my point. My comment meant that I don't believe God relieved this man - hence the use of the LITTLE 'G.' I am a Christian and KNOW that God is not evil. The point is that men, women, and children, who don't have the income or skin color that this "blessed" murderer has, suffer horrific fates up to the death penalty with no relief. You said God will judge him. Does God not judge the poor and the black? If so, why do so many more of us die by execution than do whites? So, while I am in 100% agreement that racism goes both ways and that it is COMPLETELY WRONG even if you are a black racist, HUMAN justice does not always go "both ways." In fact, justice as we - humanity - dishes it out is the opposite of fair. Bryan Stevenson, the creator of the Lynching Museum, says that blacks are 9 times more likely to die for committing the exact same crime as whites, while if a black kills a white person they're 11 times more likely to die for it than if a white kills a black. Noting the differences in the "justice" system in America doesn't mean I'm a racist. I don't believe that police are killing black men and boys - I often thank an officer whenever I see one - nor do I believe its right to hate another race just because they seem to have the upper hand financially. What I commented on were statistical FACTS and how we behave towards the rich and empowered. Would we be having this conversation if a poor black man had been relieved after slaughtering his family? Would it even be newsworthy? What I meant was that the god they talk about here is not God; the gods that got this parricidal lunatic off are money and white skin. That's it and that's all.
J ....I started reading your reply but I'm half asleep so I'll respond tomorrow, but I can say that you didn't fully understand my comment. I will clarify later. :)
I'll look forward to it Joyful Noise! ;)
