Really LOVE this!! But I have a lot to learn about oils,, been doing acrylics and I am realizing that oils may be a lot more versatile to work with!! Wish this was a longer tutorial!! Always learn more and more every time I watch your videos!!!
I have a complete comprehensive course which is laid out in chapters for you to work through the modules in your own time. Plus I run a Facebook group called MazArt Tribe where you can share your coursework. check out my online school for details. Oils are extremely versatile plus give a lush finish.
Wow Maz, i have just found your channel....as i wanted to try using oils, first time yesterday doing a portrait of my aunty, but with a palette knife...wasn;t great ! looks like Kelly Osbourne, but i think im guna really love experimenting with oils, as have used all other mediums...Thanks for great video !! doesnt look like an under painting..i'd hang it on the wall like this -beautiful !!
@@MazArtStudio yeh for sure.....i just completed a Frida Khalo in oils, and pleased with it, and enjoyed it, the main thing !!! so gunna keep exploring oils for a while...thanks for sharing online !
Although I do paint in acrylic I tend to paint my portraits and pet portraits in oils because I find it much easier to erase and use the underpainting technique for such complicated subjects.
@@MazArtStudio I find oils are smoothier to blend but they take more time to dry and it takes more time to complete one single painting. Either i should get some solution to get oil colours dry quicker or stick onto acrylics 😔
yes but check out my video on how to blend with acrylics - ruclips.net/video/64mOOF73BII/видео.html it'll help with any blending issues, the main thing you cannot erase the same with acrylics - but you can still add tonal contrast.
