These motorcycles, all with about 40 horsepower, are motorcycles that you can really ring their neck. That makes them some of the most fun motorcycles on the road. I drive my 1000cc bike around and I have to drive like I'm on my tippy toes because it's so fast, but something like this you can dog to death and it's still not go to jail.

Great... Thanks! They're also a great "finisher" bikes: In 5 years I'll be 80 & I'll "upgrade" to a +/- 300 cc bike. The Yamaha MT03 is high on my list with the BMW G 310 R, both with low seat heights of 780 & 785 mm. At 75, I'm riding a 2010/192 kg Yamaha MT03/660cc & I love that bike with its height of 805 mm. In five years I'll get, if I'm still in shape, one of these two bikes will "save" me around 28 kg & 2 cm of seat height :)

That's a great way to think about it. My dad is only in his 60s, but he's been riding tall adventure bikes for a long time. He recently transitioned to a BMW R 1200 GS. He loves it, but just like you, he's planning to switch to an even lower bike again in a few years. He loves the idea of the MT03 because it's still a fun bike and still has a few dynamics similar to the dirt/adventure bikes he's so used to. Stay safe!

Nimble, Smooth and more then enough power for a speed camera happy island. Have not tried the others as it was the one I sat on felt the most comfortable. I have a friend who is about 6 feet (182 cm) and around 280lb (127kg). I've seen him ride around on a Honda Grom and have the time of his life. But at 9HP, it's definitely slower with him on it than me. My suggestion would just be to consider what type of riding you'll be doing, find a bike to sit on so you can see how you fit. Unless you're on a the highway a lot, the power shouldn't be too much of a problem. If you ARE on the highway, or want to ride fast constantly, remember that torque is more important than horsepower when it comes to acceleration. This means that around town, and particularly for larger riders, bikes like the MT03 are better than the R3. I'm sure you already know this, but this class of bike is tuned for torque at lower RPMs, and is more useable in day-to-day situations because of it.

They weren’t taking themselves too seriously…poking fun at the fact that putting 300ish CC bikes around a track doesn’t really tell you anything. For most people looking to buy one of these bikes it’s going to be about looks, day-to-day riding and potentially upgrades/customization or resale once they get tired of them and want something bigger.

@@Bow-to-the-absurd , both are extremely different situation, most of the time, fall from a bike are un predictable and instantaneous, we cannot caliberate our senses to compensate the effect of the fall, unlike in cars, our body is the primary contact point when we crash a bike, the only protection a rider has between the track and his body is a mere 3mm leather suite.
