It's true. I'm giving away this KTM Duke 390 FOR FREE! Go here yammienoob.co
Fingers crossed
Pity im Australian Le'sigh :(
Sadly I am from india
Better not let chase see this

Honestly two amazing bikes and I think you can’t really go wrong with either, but Yamaha reliability would win me over. Cheaper maintenance, and fewer problems = happier broke boy.
I like the looks of the yamaha better as well.
I considered them both, but I bought the MT-03. Cheaper, reliability, and ABS.
I agree Yamaha is way more reliable. KTM is not very good in terms of reliability. Some parts of Duke do not last long.
Here as KTM is made so the Duke is considered super cheap, cost and maintenance wise ,super cheap.

Great review guys! Good to hear about seat heights of both bikes and how they fit riders. Not just 'beginners' bike though .....many of us older guys also want something light, not too high in the saddle and with some punchy fun....

We're like dark twins. Except you have more money hahaha
i've had a 390 for 3 years now. it's been a blast. i bought a used 1290, kept both for a season, sold the1290. not saying it's better, they do not compare. just saying that 390 was more suitable formy needs, i use the bike as transportation and the 1290 is a weekend warrior, not a commuter. i mean... if you're 6 feet tall and don't care about the huge fuel consumption and insurance and maintenance costs... and it doesn't get too hot in the summer where you live ,then maybe it could be a commuter fo you.
i live in rome (italy) and there's always traffic and the roads are all bumpy and when it rains the streets flood. the 390 never let me down, i rode it in 1 foot of water, i stand up on the pegs like on an enduro bike when the road is terrible or i have to go on and off sidewalks (yes we do park on sidewalks here) and i zip through traffic like i'm on a scooter.
i'm so sad they discontinued the 690 duke, it was the perfect bike for me but i don't wanna get one used cause i prefer having warranty. i love the little 390 but i'd like some more grunt. i think i'll go 890 cause i got a car now, work mostly from home, so i could use a less practical bike as long as it doesn't get clumsy in traffic and it doesn't use more gas than my freacking car. a little version of the superduke might be the right choice for now.
As a fan and as a z400 owner. I would love to see the comparison between the z and the Duke. Love the videos keep em coming
Me too
I’d prefer mt-03. Why? Reliability
i have mt-03 (2016), enjoying every singe ride
Keenan why can’t the mts handle corners ?
@@raffynko despite all the lack from yammie build the only one that stay is reliability. solid engine build
but ugly as hell and has no character compared to the ktm. and i am a yamaha fan..
Japanese have no competition in terms of reliability
I bought an mt-03 over the duke mostly for the reliability. I've heard of issues like fragile oil pumps and burnt out heads on the duke while the R3/mt engine is fairly bombproof.
The duke is super fun and feels a lot more pokey, to me it feels almost like a motard while the rider position and high reving engine on the mt feels closer to sports bike.
The mt's suspension and brakes do leave a lot to be desired though.
Yeah it's because they using plastic gear to spin the oil pump, but they recall it but still using the plastic gear..... _-)
“It’s too tiny look at my legs” my guy.... I don’t think you know this... but there are people in fact shorter than you.
I have a 29 inseam and the bike is too tall.
WTF???
My guy Shutup shorty
Yes, I don't get it? Two relatively tall guys riding entry level bikes and judging them based on how much they are like or unlike big bikes. There's an audience for most types of bikes, and the MT-03 probably wasn't intended for a guy who is 6'3" 230#. I sat on a 390 Duke, and it was the most uncomfortable seat I had ever experienced, other than some dirt bikes.
I rode my bike yesterday along the coast in norther cali and it was soo freaking nice to have the whole hwy to myself since people are freaking out about the coronavirus😂😂🤣😂
Maybe a Z400 too would be great.
Reliability yamha
But my heart says ktm

Which one did you end up going with? I got the MT-03 and, as a first time rider, I love it. It’s so comfortable and isn’t overpowering for me. I do see what they mean about the brakes though lol Very squishy and no feedback

Picked up the mt 03 a couple weeks ago. I was looking at the cb300r but the mt low seat height was a huge plus. Im 5' 5" with a 29 inseam and I can almost flat foot both feet. It is a fun bike and another thing not mentioned is its tank size 3.7 gallons and it's still light and easy to maneuver.
I bought the cb300f for my son. I would have bought the mt03 all day, if it would have been available at the time. The 300f is great, but i think the mt would keep his interest longer.

I just bought mine as my first bike, really lightweight and fun, and pretty punchy on the accelerator :))
You can depend on Yamaha for being reliable and it will also keep its value more than the KTM.
I'd go with Yamaha, any Yamaha motorcycle built in the last 3 years has close to zero chance of it breaking down.
Looking into getting my very first bike (late at 35) and this video was very helpful
Awesome comparison!
You forgot to add in the price of a bike trailer for the KTM so you can bring it home when it breaks down on you.
Done 9,300 with zero issues on my 17 Duke
The 14th Earl of Gurney I guess ur one of those few lucky people
What should break on the duke ?
The bike isn't that unreliable since they updated it in 2017. Just keep on top of maintenance intervals and valve adjustments
@@indianapwn3s true it is not as unreliable as it once was. But still it is somewhat unreliable
This might be me but one thing I found about Yamaha's MT series is where they place the horn button (its annoying).
Seriously, they made it like a standard to put the damn horn button far enough that it forces you to move your hand just to reach it.
Great video keep up the great work
Yaaaasssss. Much awaited.

I bought the 300f for my son last year. It seems perfect to learn on. I rode it to work a couple times myself. I very much enjoyed the bike. He rode the americade (330miles in one day) with me on his break-in oil. It fits the bill perfect in the Adirondack mountains.

He said “cheaper than everything else on the lot except dirt bikes” and that struck a nerve lol. As a former dirt bike rider; I know they are NOT cheap. Unless you’re buying kid’s bikes. Adult bikes are expensive as hell. A YZ450F’s MSRP is over $9,000. Which is insane. You can get an MT-07 for $7k.

Had hoped to take a look at the MT-03, and our local dealer is sold out. I'm an older guy, and also a newly minted motorcycle rider. (Well, once had a Honda CB200, but that was decades ago.) I don't even like the look of most modern bikes, but that Yamaha looks really cool, in even in my "Boomer" eyes. And the price? Wow. How about the 2020 kawazaki z400 compared to these 2?
Z400 is way nicer of a bike in my opinion than both 2, definitely check it out. The 390 is overhyped and just not as reliable as the Kawa and the Yamaha. There are so many known problems with the 390, and some obvious parts like the electronics don't even cover the warranty. I have ridden all 3 and I own the z400 myself and have ridden it for 16000 km now. Really love it!
Dude Z400 Smooth, power and reliability so go for it!
I would never buy a z400 just because of its design. However I think Kawa makes amazing machines, but designs are ugliest amongs all other brands. Like bunch of random shapes on a frame. (except z900rs).
