same as the fireblade repsol edition which is on the expensive side as compared to to the standard. I believe they charge more for the limited edition tag
@@sakaijin7270 cause it is a street bike with cheap components...take a look at the fork, the swingarm.. nothing to do with race or even sport bike. the RC is the only candidate which earned the name "super sport"
I agree the r3 is better in looks, due to its aggressive position and front end. But, from watching each actual first ride, I think the Ninja 400 takes the crown in overall performance Chase. Gotta be my first bike!! Great work btw, keep it up.
R3 is probably the best sports bike the ninja 400 is a better bike overall but it’s riding position is a little to lax for a sports bike I have a ninja 400 track bike and I have to replace the clip one but even then the bike still not as good as the r3
@ItsClutchGaming to be honest either. They both have low seat height, comfortable positioning and are smooth on the throttle. I find the ninja more responsive. With the two it will come down to your own personal preference. Test ride them both if you have opportunity 👍
@ItsClutchGaming neat! Here are the top five that vie for best beginner bikes. Honda CBR300R Kawasaki Ninja 400 KTM RC 390 Suzuki GXS250R And Yamaha R3 I personally wouldn’t look any past those unless you just have a different style (i.e you’re a cruiser or HD guy, or maybe want something even smaller like the Grom) The price range new is about the same overall; respectively: $4999 (ABS) $5299 (ABS) $5499 (ABS-only) $4499 (unsure of ABS pricing, typically tacks on an extra $300) $5299 (ABS) I’m told as a beginner ABS is probably the best option you could ever have, so an extra $300-500 per model is worth it. (Non-ABS are what I listed above, save some $300.) Spec wise, also respectively: 26.7 HP, 286cc single, 0-60 @ 6.5 sec 43.3 HP, 399cc twin, 0-60 @ 4.6 sec (most powerful in-class) 42.5 HP, 373cc single, 0-60 @ 4.6 sec 20.6 HP, 249cc twin, 0-60 @ 9.1 sec (least powerful in-class) 35.1 HP, 321cc twin, 0-60 @ 5.3 sec Power/performance delivery, all bikes deliver linear, with the exception of the Honda. The Honda is extremely torquey, so that means that all the power in down low, whereas the other bikes are more consistent through the gears. The fact that the Honda is different like that, it’s absolutely *prime* for city riding as all your power is down low, where you can make the most out of and in between every red light. It will do freeways too, but from what I see people don’t as often as a bigger bike. Not sure myself as, again, never rode myself. So if you’re in the city, I would imagine the Honda. If you’re more of a rural area of back in the sticks, the Ninja would be better-suited. And obviously the more powerful the bike, the better your highway riding will be. (The Ninja ‘Ninjette’ handles the freeway wonderfully, as expected being the most powerful in-class.) The weights of each of them are roughly the same save a few pounds for an average of 370 pounds (that’s light). Now, keep in mind with the class the Kawasaki and KTM are much more powerful, delivering almost 70+ more cc for the same class, so naturally those are more powerful, but that does come with a slightly larger budget. That said, the ‘400 standard’ actually dropped the prices of the smaller ones. So while the new prices are close together, used bikes (in great condition) or never-before-owned ‘used’ bikes (last year models that are still considered new, just not actual newest model.) are considerably cheaper. In fact, in my area (DFW), I can find brand new (new as in never used) Honda CBR300R for $3600. That’s well under the ‘new’ price as it’s last year’s model so dealers are trying to get rid of inventory. Personally, I think the GXS250R shouldn’t be compared to the rest of the class, and I wouldn’t get it for sure. May be a personal preference if you like it though. I just feel it’s lackluster compared to. Anyway, like I said, I did do thorough research so I hope this helps!
@ItsClutchGaming I would definitely say you can’t go wrong with either choice! (Except that Suzuki, man. 😂😂) It really does come down to just personal preference. Let me know which one you end up with! 😁
I agree 100%.... The Ninja is the best one of these bikes by far. That being said, i strongly strongly urge any new riders who feel strongly that they will want to go faster eventually to buy a used version of any of these first. The reason i say that is you can pick up a very good used version of one of these for dirt cheap. I would bet my life that most guys will end up being happy they did. If you drop it or scratch it or anything its not the end of the world and all the money you saved can go toward either your new ninja 400 or a 600cc supersport or whatever you decide you want. If you resale that used bike in the summer you may come out even or even possibly a little ahead if you can buy one during the winter... To any new riders that read this always worry about accuracy before speed.
Dude you rock for putting the time into this comparison. When you make videos it's like an art form! Major respect to you and your work ethic (as much work can be had when riding motorcycles lmao) again, thanks for the best motorcycle reviews/comparisons on RUclips!
The RC 390 is still on its breaking-in period and was set into ONLY 6950RPm (rev limiter). After 1st PMS or 660 miles, the RPM can be set to 10k-11k RPM. Let's be fair!
Paul Kaiser I owned the KTM RC 390 for 2 summers in Las Vegas heat. No overheating issues. If KTM would make the damn RC790 I would be on that instead of a Ninja ZX6R
Just a bit of a side note on the engine aspect of the KTM, the RC has a break-in period of 1000 km (roughly 600 miles) where it can't go over 7500rpm, where most of the power is found.(You can actually see it say 'Transport Lock' in 4:06, which says that the engine hasn't been broken-in) While what Chase said isn't false, especially considering the bike was still in break-in mode, the engine has a lot more to give for the highway. On the topic of wind protection, I agree, the windshield is not the best stock, you would have to get like, KTM's powerpart or an aftermarket windscreen to get some semblance of wind protection. The dash is terrible as well so not much to comment on there. I do agree where Chase ranked the RC, the bike is too 'specialized', so to speak, its too aggressive in its ergos and engine. It runs hot, especially in warmer climates, the brakes have a lot of initial bite, and the price is not one for the faint hearted. Edit: The rumored new 2020-ish RC390 seems to fix the dash and windscreen complaint that seems to have plauged the KTM in this comparison. I sure do hope Chase revisits the new RC390 once it comes out.
Idk about this rc390, but my 2022 Duke 390 (same engine) doesn't limit you to 7500, it just says in the manual, don't go over it. But mine wasn't transport locked so that may cause a difference.
they solved the heating part but fucked up the aesthetic, I mean there were so many ways they could have upgraded the front look but idk what were they doing. Sure its more functional, but crazy looking machine description would have been better fit.
It’s pretty remarkable how far this class has come in just the past 8 years that I’ve been riding. When I started the only real options were the Ninja 250R and the CBR250R and I went with the Kawasaki. The Suzuki would’ve possibly been competitive 10 years ago but now is so far behind the rest. Even as an experienced rider that R3 is actually pretty damn tempting, it’s a shame it’s stuck with that exhaust note though.
I thought the r3 had the best ergonomics, but price played a huge role for me. For just a little bit more money you get more power in the ninja 400. Honestly those two were super close for me, perhaps in the future when I upgrade I’ll get an r6 but for now I’m a Kawasaki dude. 😉
When I was checking out bikes, in mind with how it would be on track, r3 immediately impressed me with the ergonomics. I've had a non-sports bike that was setup for track, and couldn't get used to how it rode. Found out with that bike, how much ergonomics matter for me. Also, most of my track buds that ride r3's have nothing but positive things to say, and I noticed how these bikes helped improve their abilities. Very excited to get one and see how it is at my local track!
Perfect timing to reinforce my decision of getting myself an R3. You did a great job comparing all the bikes. Definitely a video that I have been looking for all ove in the past month or so and now we finally have it. Good job chase!
Lol same here, just wanna hear it again that the r3 is the answer. Im just a little surprised its only a few pounds lighter then the ninja 400. I was kinda hoping it would be more like 30+ pounds but oh well still getting one as my first bike.
Should definitely do a 600cc comparison like this!! I started with the cbr600rr but always wondered how the other bikes in class compare! Great video btw!
Well it went like I thought it would. CHASE. You should have to get a Yamaha tattoo after this. Ironically I don't disagree with anything other than the last two rankings. I chose the Ninja 400 for myself based on the same things you mentioned. The exception was that I liked the fact it was a more relaxed seating position, and I liked that it could peel out of the corners quicker. I don't feel unstable and I feel plenty planted when leaning. They're all personal preferences though so to each their own! Enjoyed the video from one Northern Georgia Rider to another. :)
Yeah i dont know wtf he's talking about not feeling "planted in corners" on the ninja I have tons of confidence in cornering my 400, I test rode a 19 zx6r and that's what I call not feeling planted, felt like I was gonna fall off the thing cause the seating position and top-heaviness
@@chad_is_here likely just his personal preference. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and not just calling it as him trying to stack in the R3's favor lol. I do see where he might think that since he's used to 600's and up given that their weight would hold you in the turn, but since the 400 is so light and agile you have to keep your position or it will stand up with the gyro forces from the wheels.
@Michael H. if my experience so far on mine is anything to go by, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Enough engine for me to grow as a rider, overtake traffic when I need to, and really learn how to ride. I can even beat the 600 bros in corners. My only negative was the exhaust because it blocked my boat anchor of a foot. Less than $150 later that is resolved and it gave the bike a little more HP than before. 2.5 boost to something that was only making 45hp before hand is certainly enough to feel. Hope you ride safe once you get it!
@@chad_is_here yeah I call BS the Ninja isn't planted, mine is planted and the Yamaha is no way better, I guess someone had to make the other bike riders feel better, cause everyone knows the 400 rules
Totally agree with you, I’ve been saving up money to buy myself an R3 2020 because i just love it! People tell me that i should buy myself a secondhand r6 but i just dont want a straight line, i will use it in the city, and i think it is the best bike, everytime i wake up and go n’ make money, i do it thinking about the R3, it is my dream! Thank you for the video, you won a subscriber, your videos are awesome, you do facts and opinions. Loved it! Thanks man!
Love the production quality in this, man. You're crushing the quality game. The shots are beautiful, but that talking audio is so crispy and clear. Well done. 👍🏻
i walked into a dealer cash in hand ready to buy the 400, then i saw a blue yamaha r3 next to it and i didnt even flinch, bought it right there and then and could not be happier. put 12,000 miles on it in 7 months.
@@evansolomon169 I've been riding for over 10 years and I still prefer my low cc bike over everything else I've ridden. And why not? Low weight, low insurance cost, sips fuel, low maintenance costs. Love it.
Back in March 2019, i was looking around for ninja 400s in my area and went to check out my local dealership, it was a green 400 and i loved it. Talked to the guy and decided to come back in a week to finalize my decision. I finally made my decision to buy it and went again the following friday, only this time there was a blue 2019 Yamaha R3 sitting right next to it. When i first saw it i thought it was an r6 but quickly realized the "big" cc bikes where kept in another area. I had seen pictures of the r3 but thought it looked kinda ugly, but seeing it right there in front of, it looked mean and fkn sharp as hell. I didn't even have to wait or think about anything lol, two hours later i was doing 70 mph down the freeway on my 2019 r3 :) Ive put 12,000 miles on it so far and it still bring a huge smile to my face, and i get a TON of compliments on the bike, even other bikers think its an r6 or an r1 when they see me rolling up lol.
the problem with r3 here in India is that everyone thinks that its r15 so that a bummer and the reason most of us avoid r3. you wouldn't want your quarter litre to be compared with the 150cc r15 v3
100! 🤔 the R3 should take home the Bronze metal in my book. I rank like this. #1. Kawasaki. #2. KTM. #3. R3 of course, but only just barely beating out the HONDA.
Yes, their stuff is continously more expensive than other Japanese models but don't really deliver a better product. Even the new Tenere 700 is more expensive than even Suzuki Vstrom1000xt in Australia.
Awesome job... got my 2019 Team Blue R3 a month ago and it's a great bike. Had a Gixxer 750, Ninja 650 and Honda CTX 700 and the R3 is the best by far!
I owned an R3 and loved it but there were times when I wished I had gone with a Ninja 300 for the slipper clutch and other little performance bits (this was before the 400 came out). The R3 was perfect for my commute in Hawaii but I don't know that I would love it for North Carolina.
Well you can fit a slipper clutch for older yamha bikes I have done it personally not hard but you're gonna have your hands dirty it's completely worth it and budget friendly.
Hi chase, I had an r3 for two years and have now had a ninja 400 for a year and a half. Totally know what u mean about the r3, well rounded, great bike. However even with my akropvich exhaust there wasn't enough top end speed. With my ninja it's definitely a better engine but as far as the overall ride you can tell the design team kinda rushed it out the door. I'm still happy with it and having had both bikes I can't argue with your opinion of the r3 coming in first
@@HooDRidEWhiteY I think over time it makes the difference. Like in Chase's case the r3 isn't the only bike he owns so there's variety in what he's riding. For myself, it was my only bike. So around town here and there it's a really fun bike, but if I wanted to go on a 60 mile trip it wouldn't be my first choice. I don't regret switching to the kawi becausethe engine is bigger.
Positive_Energies_ I am a new rider and have not gotten a bike yet. Would you suggest to ninja or the r3? Again, I have never ridden before and am looking for a solid first bike
all are great as long as you are loving it.... owning a bike based on your own preferences and not somebody else.... might be a crappy bike to some but might be enjoyable to others... as long as the opinion is not bias... but fret not- we are only humans
I just want to point out that the KTM you tried had engine power restricted due to the RPMs being limited as they all are before the 1000km service. So you got a 8500 RPM redline as opposed to 12.000 The KTM RC 390 is in fact the fastest bike stock of them three.
I recommend to anyone that want to buy one in this class to try the R3 and the Ninja 400. I tried both and being 6" I fitted in the ninja much better than in the R3, I loved much more the aesthetics and position of the R3, but I was shrinked af, my elbows was way over my knees when tucked in. At the end I decided to go for the ninja, also because in the future I can buy some lowered clip-ons and rear sets to adjust my position to be more aggressive, while still having that awesome engine. Anyway, I think that you won't miss with any of the two, you will have tons of fun and love riding them.
@@slowmosheet3367 dang how does he reach the handle bars standing 6 inches tall. He must have long arms ! Wait how does he reach the shifter and brakes....
I just bought the 2020 r3 and I love it! Deff great on highway gets up to 95 easily then starts to climb just a little bit slower but so far a top speed of 110 used with 1099 miles I put over 800mi on it the last month and I couldn't be happier. And I love the team Yamaha blue and grey.
okay...no one beat you at; - editing - video quality love the idea too, this kind of comparisson is awesome. do it on supersport or any other class of bike you want. once again, nice job chase!
Loved the entire series. Great work. Please do a comparison between - 1) Yamaha MT 09 vs KTM Duke 790 vs Triumph Street Triple RS vs Kawasaki Z900 2) Honda CBR 650R vs Kawasaki Ninja 650
Yes forget the 600 cc sport bike comparison , not many sport bikes are being sold lately. Do do a middle weight naked and a middle weight adventure comparison. Throw the Yamaha 900 Tracer GT in there as well.
Just got an R3. Had cbr250. So far, I really like my R3. It’s smooth and does what need it to. Would like to give the Ninja 400 a try one day. Don’t think I’d upgrade from R3 to 400. I’d go straight to 600 next. For now, my blue R3 is impressive and still cheap to insure.
Gotta say man, i have absolutely zero exp on motorcycles, but ive always wanted to start. Went sat on a lot if bikes the last few days. I've watched hours of your clips and everytime I see something I like I check out your opinion on it. Started with the fz07, felt too big for me, now I'm stuck between the r3 and the Honda rebel. Loved this video man. You're super intuitive and man I appreciate every tip! Thanks again bud
21:00 Chase, please, it was already mentioned in the video with the RC 390. The bike was brand new and in its break-in-phase. The bike has a factory lowered rpm limiter for the first 600 or so miles and then at the time of the first service check up, they remove it. That is why you couldn't go any faster despite it being one of the more powerful low CC bikes.
Yeah, i saw on the video when he was going 90 the rpm is not at its peak. Thats below 10k rpm. Try it one more time but this time get its rpm upto 10k rpm. 😁
It’s saying something that the outro crew rankings matched yours with the exception of the r3 and ninja 400. I think it’s fair to say that regardless of which one an individual decides on, they’re going to be happy with it. When it comes to those two, I think it boils down to which one is more aesthetically appealing to you.
I went to the local dealer a few days ago to pick up parts for my street bike and saw the new teal 2021 R3. Not ever owning a sport bike I know nothing about the r3 but it caught my eye and when I sat on I fell in love instantly! Granted, I’ve WANTED a sport bike for a long time but none have ever felt right because I’m 5’ 4” and sport bikes are like women, they seem to like taller dudes….lol. I know they can be lowered but it’s a process I’d rather pass on. I have a 96 honda 600 vlx bobber that I cruise town with and a 750 spirit for when I’m with the wife. I’d just like something newer for around town. Less maintenance and upkeep on. This review helped a ton. Thanks. Now to go buy an r3. P.s. I sold my 600 but now am having to have shoulder surgery so I’m putting off getting the R3 until next season.
Yes I agree, the R3 is the way to go . especially for those of us new riders that want to develop that confidence and skill on the road . And after having it for years won't get bored of it .after upgrading to stronger bike 👍
I like that you didnt show the black CBR300 during the Aesthetics category, so you could justifiable slam it, despite it being by far the sweetest bike in black and red from all of the above xD
Thanks Chase for all your hard work in this shootout! Your top 2 match mine! I'm going to get the best of both worlds. 400R for me, R3 for the wife. Swap back and forth. All thanks to you!
R3: the new popular kid 400: the old popular kid 390: used orange highlighters 300R: showed up to class, got B’s, bothered no one 250R: why do you exist
I've got the R3, the Honda was my second choice. I wanted a good city commuter and occasionally road trip machine. I'm pretty satisfied it's pretty good little machine plus it's quite fun also. I don't like digital dash, it's a 2015 so I have this beautiful analog tach!
Glad to see you weren't biased and picked the best bike out there's dash. The Ninja 400! Glad your not showing any biases, just being straight up honest. Derp
i've tested all those bikes, and in my opinion: 4. CBR300 (good to ride in the city) 3. Ninja 400 (recommended for a tour) 2. KTM 390 (recommended for a track day) 1. R3 (a perfect combination for a lightweight class bike) 5. Suzuki (hmmm I don't know what to say, it's hard. Well you all know what I mean) :) RIP Suzuki
"It felt like I really had to push the RC390" Good. That's exactly how that bike wants to be ridden, it's not happy puttering about, and even though most of its power is lower in the band, that little single is happiest when bouncing off the limiter. Also, it is the only bike on this list that outright *needs* a power commander (or other piggyback) straight from the factory. KTM tuned the thing to pass emissions and keep the bike A2 compliant in Europe. An ECU flash to pump more fuel into the engine and increase the rev limiter by another 1000rpm makes this a no-contest choice in the beginner bike lineup, so long as you're okay with your standard eurobike eccentricities
I be owned a ninja 300, r3, cb300r, and ninja 250r and I have to say nothing you’ve said about those brands Is a lie. The r3 stays on top and the Honda does have really good torque at low rpms
Hey man, this is great content and I really enjoyed it. My only issues were your overtakes in the opening; you’re moving sideways and forwards into the space that a car would be if it decided to change lanes and you wouldn’t have been in their side mirror at all. If you plan your overtakes in advance so you’re in the lane you intend to be in before you reach the line of the car they may still change lane, but you’ve increased your chances to be seen and also the time you have to brake. Stay safe man, the world needs people with your passion
My top 5: 1st Honda CBR 300r, 2nd Ninja 400, 3rd Yamaha r3, 4th KTM Rc390, suzuki dead last. It's all personal preference really so no matter which one is your favorite it doesn't devalue it if someone like chase etc doesn't put it as their top bike in it's class. Personally I like the way the honda feels and they make good reliable vehicles whereas ninja's you see people having to repair a lot or do more maintenance on. At least all my friends have to do more maintenance on theirs. So reliability is honda's strongest point, then MPG it wins and honestly it surprisingly makes you feel like you're riding a bigger CC bike because of it's torque and the way it handles. Me mainly just using it around city for commuting means I don't really care about driving super fast on the highway and it's the best city bike out of all of them. I personally dislike the r3's design but love the ninja's design the most but at the same time I don't really want a bike that isn't reliable and from personal experiences ninja's aren't as reliable as honda's and that is just personal experiences. I test rode them all at a local dealership and I chose the Honda CBR 300r 2018 model and I loved the black and red it looks slick.
Basically this video: R3 is best because Yamaha master race Ninja looks cool RC390 has the best of everything plus a Gameboy dash for that retro vibe although it's 2nd because Yamaha Master Race Gixxer 250 is a toilet
4:59 It dangerous to only use engine breaking on a motorcycle because you slow down without your breaking light on. So traffic that follows you doesn't know you're slowing down.
There’s a spot on every brake where you aren’t actually braking but the light comes on. If you make it a habit to do this it solves the problem and will make you react quicker in case of emergency braking.
I nailed the order. I would agree other than the 400 deserves first. Tire pressure alone could make the bike feel more planted, not to mention new tires. If you put clip on handle bars, it'll be great in the canyons and likely still one of the cheapest options. Kawasaki knows little bikes better than anyone else.
I currently own a RC 125, i love the riding position... I think its extremely comfortable and its pretty solid in traffic ( Germany ). Soon gonna get my A2 license, thanks for the vid Chase :)
Loved your video and I am a Yamaha man at heart, mind you I have a Suzuki gw250 and I had so many Japanese motorcycles big and small and they are all great but somehow the Yamaha is number one for me. I love the way they handle.
R3, what a surprise lol!! Been watching reviews for about 6 months and everything based on the majority opinion of riders and test lead to the ninja 400. So I bought that. The real winner on paper and on the road. ✌🏽
How right you are, ppl are kidding their self thinking there's a better bike then the 400, I could of gotten a bigger CC, but I can only go faster than the speed limit if I want to chance a ticket, but I can go through the curves all day long and it's alot funner on a lighter nimbler bike than on a big heavy one. Love my 400
@@michaelbrick9730 you and others like you are stupid cry babies. It's his opinion. If you like the ninja 400 better than the r3,that's your opinion. Choosing 1 bike as better than the other is purely subjective, dummies.
My thoughts exaclly. Why would you buy sports bike if you seek everyday commuter. Make no sense. It's like to say r1 is a shitty bike because it's too aggresive and there is no storage room.
I don't think these class have a perfect track bikes. They all are sports tourer except Rc390. R3 has more relaxed seating position than R25. So you can ride it daily and on track too!! Unlike the RC390, it's only for track.
Why isn't the Monster edition R3 cheaper if it has ads on it?
Haha, good point.

@ItsClutchGaming neat!
Here are the top five that vie for best beginner bikes.
Honda CBR300R
Kawasaki Ninja 400
KTM RC 390
Suzuki GXS250R
And Yamaha R3
I personally wouldn’t look any past those unless you just have a different style (i.e you’re a cruiser or HD guy, or maybe want something even smaller like the Grom)
The price range new is about the same overall; respectively:
$4999 (ABS)
$5299 (ABS)
$5499 (ABS-only)
$4499 (unsure of ABS pricing, typically tacks on an extra $300)
$5299 (ABS)
I’m told as a beginner ABS is probably the best option you could ever have, so an extra $300-500 per model is worth it. (Non-ABS are what I listed above, save some $300.)
Spec wise, also respectively:

Power/performance delivery, all bikes deliver linear, with the exception of the Honda.
(The Ninja ‘Ninjette’ handles the freeway wonderfully, as expected being the most powerful in-class.)
The weights of each of them are roughly the same save a few pounds for an average of 370 pounds (that’s light).
It really does come down to just personal preference.
Probably because you owned a R6 you feel more used to everything in a Yamaha. Though I personally feel Ninja provided the best overall package
I agree, 💯 percent I'm going to get a 2022 ninja 400 abs.

@@kaiyao2766 came to make sure someone shouted out F9. But to even be in the same convo is an honor and testament to this channel.
The RC 390 is still on its breaking-in period and was set into ONLY 6950RPm (rev limiter). After 1st PMS or 660 miles, the RPM can be set to 10k-11k RPM. Let's be fair!
I hate how little reviewers actually know about the bikes they ride. It's like they read a card and that's it.
I bought my R3 2020 because of this video...
I am really satisfied with the performance, controls and looks..
Its very Yamaha biased this review. I own a rc 390 and would vote for the ninja in many categories.
UCBANDIT009 agree
Hes always been Yamaha biased but it's his opinion overall
Agreed!!
Paul Kaiser I owned the KTM RC 390 for 2 summers in Las Vegas heat. No overheating issues. If KTM would make the damn RC790 I would be on that instead of a Ninja ZX6R
have you been on an R3 tho ? i mean i dont know any of these bikes but i think you should ride a bike to give an opinion
Just a bit of a side note on the engine aspect of the KTM, the RC has a break-in period of 1000 km (roughly 600 miles) where it can't go over 7500rpm, where most of the power is found.(You can actually see it say 'Transport Lock' in 4:06, which says that the engine hasn't been broken-in)
While what Chase said isn't false, especially considering the bike was still in break-in mode, the engine has a lot more to give for the highway.
Here take my like, you deserve it. Thanks for the info
@@sensei249 I kind of like the design cause say it's really funded out ,,, like orange and black and so many iron bars

That red Ninja 400 is looking the best, damn what a beauty ❤️🔥
OC. I'd love to see this updated with the Cfmoto entries in the class. THAT'S a comparison I wanna see.
Ninja 400 has the best looking dash to me. I hate TFT displays and I need at least an analog tach.
That is one of the main reasons I bought the ninja 400!!!
The feel of that needle redlining is in the another level which full digital dash can never match
@@NishantPratikXalxo it makes it feel real!
Same if I went with r3 it would be a 2018 or lower.
I definitely agree with this! The dash of Ninja 400 looks real and giving the adrenalin
Even as an experienced rider that R3 is actually pretty damn tempting, it’s a shame it’s stuck with that exhaust note though.
we had that in the 90th ... ZXR400, FZR, Mito, RS125, NSR... far better, lighter, faster, than these iron pigs, mate!
I thought the r3 had the best ergonomics, but price played a huge role for me. For just a little bit more money you get more power in the ninja 400. Honestly those two were super close for me, perhaps in the future when I upgrade I’ll get an r6 but for now I’m a Kawasaki dude. 😉
I have an R3 and was so happy to watch this video 😁
When I was checking out bikes, in mind with how it would be on track, r3 immediately impressed me with the ergonomics. I've had a non-sports bike that was setup for track, and couldn't get used to how it rode. Found out with that bike, how much ergonomics matter for me. Also, most of my track buds that ride r3's have nothing but positive things to say, and I noticed how these bikes helped improve their abilities.
Very excited to get one and see how it is at my local track!
@atharvasamant581 A potential bike fell through and decided to take a break from riding track. May still get a track prepped one later on.
Perfect timing to reinforce my decision of getting myself an R3. You did a great job comparing all the bikes. Definitely a video that I have been looking for all ove in the past month or so and now we finally have it. Good job chase!
Gustavo Ortega Jr not to mention makes a great stuntbike.
Lol same here, just wanna hear it again that the r3 is the answer. Im just a little surprised its only a few pounds lighter then the ninja 400. I was kinda hoping it would be more like 30+ pounds but oh well still getting one as my first bike.
I hope you ended up getting an r3 because I have one and I love it they’re amazing little bikes

Yeah Kawasaki has a larger back rim at 150 where the r3 has a 140 makes a difference on turns
@@chad_is_here yeah I call BS the Ninja isn't planted, mine is planted and the Yamaha is no way better, I guess someone had to make the other bike riders feel better, cause everyone knows the 400 rules

Well you can fit a slipper clutch for older yamha bikes I have done it personally not hard but you're gonna have your hands dirty it's completely worth it and budget friendly.
Hi chase,

Totally know what u mean about the r3, well rounded, great bike. However even with my akropvich exhaust there wasn't enough top end speed. With my ninja it's definitely a better engine but as far as the overall ride you can tell the design team kinda rushed it out the door. I'm still happy with it and having had both bikes I can't argue with your opinion of the r3 coming in first
Does the better motor on the Kawasaki make the change worth it?

21:00 Chase, please, it was already mentioned in the video with the RC 390. The bike was brand new and in its break-in-phase. The bike has a factory lowered rpm limiter for the first 600 or so miles and then at the time of the first service check up, they remove it. That is why you couldn't go any faster despite it being one of the more powerful low CC bikes.

It’s saying something that the outro crew rankings matched yours with the exception of the r3 and ninja 400. Good.
Basically this video:
R3 is best because Yamaha master race
Ninja looks cool
RC390 has the best of everything plus a Gameboy dash for that retro vibe although it's 2nd because Yamaha Master Race
Gixxer 250 is a toilet
And of course, as illustrated by your comment:
The CBR is and always will be forgotten
@@jayv3394 lmfao!!
And CBR300R not even worth mentioning 😂
This comment needs to be higher on the video.
The last one is true tho
i own a 2017 R3 and its my first bike and what an amazing bike it is!
"But, the R3s engine is totally fine." This says it all to me, the Ninja wins!
There's no way the rc390 goes only 85mph, I've seen my stock 390 go over 100 and after mods it goes 120 no problems and tops at 130
4:59 It dangerous to only use engine breaking on a motorcycle because you slow down without your breaking light on.
Small CC motorcycle shootout from C2W, brought to you by Yamaha 😂 but seriously, loved this series and would love to see a small cc naked bike series!
Any chance you can do the naked version of this test: MT-03 vs Z400 vs Duke 390 vs CB300R
Yes!
cb300f
What about the 2020 z 400 abs Kawasaki
Just bought my 1st R3 luv it!! Handles awesome on the highway and everyday riding!!
You should add reliability as a category 😊. Currently shopping for my beginner bike.
Honda and Suzuki in that order.
Chase, You never mentioned anything about comparing MPG. Fuel economy is also important in a small displacement bike.
R3 is around 27km/l ninja400 at 25km/l
R3 and Ninja are the best mpg bikes in this class simply
CBR300R is 71 mpg though.
@@shay3514 I doubt they get better fuel consum. than the CBR. Hondas are pretty efficient bikes and that low torque gets you places with low rpm.
on my own opinion, kawasaki ninja 400 is the best! great engine! very fast among all those bikes! fun to ride and the design wow headturner,
Concise, informative, well-produced and presented... great video! Thank you!
The facts, plus my ability to detect strong bias, led me to the 400. Thanks, Chase!
Now that cf moto is making a splash in the beginner world can we get an updated video?
The R3 is da Besttt! Great review mannnn, so true facts for every bike 💪
I currently own a RC 125, i love the riding position... I think its extremely comfortable and its pretty solid in traffic ( Germany ). Soon gonna get my A2 license, thanks for the vid Chase :)
Now im more than convinced that im gettin an R3 for summer 👌
Loved your video and I am a Yamaha man at heart, mind you I have a Suzuki gw250 and I had so many Japanese motorcycles big and small and they are all great but somehow the Yamaha is number one for me.
I love the way they handle.
i am really thinking of getting a R3 now. looks great
R3, what a surprise lol!! Been watching reviews for about 6 months and everything based on the majority opinion of riders and test lead to the ninja 400. So I bought that. The real winner on paper and on the road. ✌🏽
Bingo...Ninja 400 Kawasaki
How right you are, ppl are kidding their self thinking there's a better bike then the 400, I could of gotten a bigger CC, but I can only go faster than the speed limit if I want to chance a ticket, but I can go through the curves all day long and it's alot funner on a lighter nimbler bike than on a big heavy one. Love my 400
Finally with a sense! I totally agree! Ninja 400 is the top class. awesome features, looks, and performance.
@@michaelbrick9730 you and others like you are stupid cry babies. It's his opinion. If you like the ninja 400 better than the r3,that's your opinion. Choosing 1 bike as better than the other is purely subjective, dummies.
@@rick343 that's "could have", not "could of",dummy.
"Rc390 is a race bike, i need a bike to ride daily" Why would you use a supersport if you need to ride daily??
Omar Omar exactly. Get an enfield and there’s no loss of doing anything day to day.
In my opinion, the best bike to ride daily would be the Honda Rebel 500. Even though I am not a fan of cruisers.
@@jere6370 Enfields are worse than KTM's.
Just watched because of Yzf-R3 💙💯
Thanks been wanting an R3 so bad, I appreciate this video, and you going through each of these! 🏍
I like the way ninjas look
