I’m LOVING Christopher Lamberts voice in this. It makes Raiden sound wise and Ancient but in a “been watching things from a far” way while the other Raiden is more of a proactive “ things must be done” manner.
The fact that Netherealm knows that everyone loves the klassic 1995 MK movie and gave us the skins in the game is amazing! Not only that but got the voice actors!
The only one we’re missing now is Robin Shou’s Liu Kang, and the original protagonists are all here! Edit (11/30/20): 1.6k of y’all are crazy for liking this...thanks! ...and yes, I did omit Kitana, but to be fair, when I was typing this, I was thinking of the original trio and Raiden as they were the ones together on the boat heading to Shang Tsung’s island, and Kitana was neutral all the up to the mid-end part of the movie hence why I said “original” protagonists.
This game alone already has: -Arnold Schwarzenegger (as a face model tho) - Keith David - Peter Weller - Sylvester Stallone - The cast of the OG MK Movie All what’s missing now is Bruce Campbell
Wow, they really have a huge respect for the franchise. The first MK still is the best adaptation from a game in movie history after 25 years. All these actors nailed their roles and truly shaped the characters for the next generations. Even passed Trevor Goddard as Kano! Netherrealm should bring back Liu Kang with Robin Shou skin and VA and same for Talisa Soto's Kitana and they will make serious money. PS: Just forget Brian Thompson as Shao Khan.
Sadly, that's probably something they're not gonna follow up on, and was probably just an easter egg referencing the fact that Shang Tsung was originally conceptualized as a character named Shang Lao during the early development stages of the original Mortal Kombat game. Would be cool if they do follow up on it though, but I kinda doubt they will.

While it shows up in versus gameplay, the song’s use in the story would have been epic, but is strangely absent.

Personally, I enjoy Bridgette’s performance, the inflection of sarcasm in her voice works for the lines given. I don’t hate Rhonda, I do think the gruff military voice does fit the current version of Sonya, I just think she needed a bit more VA work experience before she took on the role.
Words can not describe how good this is. The love and work NRS have put in MK11, I haven't seen in AAA gaming industry since, I guess, Witcher 3. Outstanding!

IIRC, Shang Lao was what Shang Tsung was originally going to be called. The idea of a brother or an alternate version of Shang Tsung going by that name might be interesting, though.

5:16 that’s exactly why Cage’s actor Lynden Ashby didn’t return for the sequel to the original movie. Johnny cage was given no screen time and killed off in the first few minutes

IIRC, Shang Lao was what Shang Tsung was originally going to be called. The idea of a brother or an alternate version of Shang Tsung going by that name might be interesting, though.
Shang lao was the original name of Shang tsung , when the game was being made , then it was changed to Shang tsung
