I always wanted the devs to release something more about Shang Tsung's past. I know MK Conquest kinda tackled a bit of it, like, we learned his sifu's name was "Master Cho" and he used to bang a fellow sorceress called "Omegis", but we still never got to learn real well about his story, i.e. whoever were his parents or siblings, or why exactly was he cursed to become a soulsucker, or how did he drop by at Shao Kahn's court and become the imperial sorcerer just like that?

Raiden was defeated, but then the two turned on each other. Onaga awoke, and in desperation, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and Raiden untied their power to stop him, but they barely even annoyed him. Hell, even Shao Khan resorted to poisoning Onaga because even he was afraid to fight him one on one. Point being, Onaga is one of the biggest threats to the Realms and waking him up is something even the other villains would want to avoid.
Tagawa IS Shang. I can’t think of anyone who could replace him as that character. Sinister to the bone, calm, and with an almighty disposition. Legendary actor.

But then one of his intros with Cassie also from MK11 makes it sound like his mother's been dead for a long time. 'My Ma would've loved you,' Cassie's reply 'Aww, sounds like you miss her bunches' followed up by Erron's 'I hated Ma.' Erron's change of tense when talking about his mother is odd - unless the exchange with Shang Tsung is meant jokingly, i.e. Erron can't get a break from his mother even in death - which I prefer as he's still the supernaturally long-lived Old West gunslinger instead of some modern day marksman.
