Yea that's how I feel, car was 2 different colors when I bought it and a boat load of dents. Now it's a lot less dents and one color I'm happy for a beater car
I had that harbor freight paint gun. It died after a few uses too. I now have the Finish Max Super paint sprayer. It was around $100 but it has the 2 stage trigger, pull it halfway and just air comes out then pull it fully and paint comes out. Its quiet and works great. I haven't used it for automotive paint....yet
That's what I'm saying, you set out and named the video airless spray gun, you have the money to spend 500 plus on paint. But you crap out on your own video and don't go buy another 20 - 30 dollar sprayer. I mean it's your choice and your own video, but you name it one thing and then don't follow through?
The Avanti gun Harbor Freight currently sells specifically states it has to be cleaned if you stop using it even with house paint or it will clog. Assuming the construction is similar and that what you encountered wasn't a mechanical failure I think you need to be prepared to do it in one uninterrupted session and be ready to clean it immediately after.
Mark you are the shit! Your AWESOME! Damn it I love it when you do videos like this. These are my favorite. Never in a million years did I think that an electric spray gun would work at all much less how it turned out! Thanks again man for the great content! My favorite channel 100%
Did just what you did in 1972 to a Chevy II with the OEM paint color ... besides being dull it covered the car well and lasted many years ... got used to the dull finish and kind of liked it. Good job in ALL and loved talking in the RAIN and painting the tires and wheels.
So as I'm watching this I'm wondering if I should try this on my S10, I have like 1100.00 in the truck and it's like 5 different colors. I really like the gray color you used . In your opinion did the electric gun do a good enough job to use with a single stage paint?
I have one of these spray guns and used it to put stain on my fence. It spit globs of stain unexpectantly and then sometimes wouldn't spray at all and clog up. They really are a cheap piece of crap. I had to buy two guns because they only last a few times of use. I'm surprised that you were able to get it to spray as smooth as you did
That nardo gray looked like it layed down really good from an internet distance but couldn't really tell what the base was gonna do. I think the problems with airless/compressorless, both this one and the turbine type, is gonna be the hot pump and the hot air from the turbine. It will change the flash times dramatically and leave alot of dry spots. It was worth a shot but not something I would do if there was any way around it.
My Wagner gun seems to leak a bit of paint into the "motor" which if not cleaned up immediately after the painting session could ruin the gun. So remember to do this each time you rest for more than 10 minutes or at the end of your session. The gun is still going strong ater almost 30 years, although I think it might benefit from a new nozzle. Also to minimise overspray and orange peel, paint the roof separately while masking everything else. Additionally I found it beneficial to remove the bonnet and boot and paint them separately, on a slight incline rather than completely horizontal or vertical. The finish achieved here is better than I got (not by a mile though), but then I completed the job with the electric gun.
Looks a lot better than it was. I wasn't expecting the cheap airless gun to even work at all. I believe it would have been a nice job if the gun wouldnt have crapped out. Love the look of the car.

Unfortunately just can't change the prices of services. T bone steaks are super expensive as well, that's why there's a steak house and a McDonald's in every town so people can pick and chose what quality they want.

That is a smoking color man, for a beater car that thing turned out nice. I have an electrical spraygun from Adendorff and been using it for a while now, but never automotive, will try that next.
Electric spray guns generally don't spray well using thin paint. They are meant to spray thicker paints and they will burn up using thin paint and sometimes even dry within itself clogging up the gun rendering it useless
@Speedokote refinish network I normally use a Black Widow from Hobo Freight and it has worked very well for the last 4 paint jobs I've done. Royal blue pearl metallic/clear, metallic gun metal grey/single stage, midnight black/clear and torch red/single stage. My next project will be a 2012 Dodge Challenger for my youngest son that I'll sand down with 600 or 800 grit and then shoot with grey sealer and the Speedokote single stage Nardo grey. I saw you use it on one of the cars you painted and I figure 3 coats and I can have it gleaming. But now I'll have to find another air compressor since I sold my Husky 60 gallon. I think a good 40 gallon should work fine unless I can find a 120v 60 gallon at a really good price. Lol
You can get a very good Fuji Turbine system for about the price of very good spray gun.Check out some of the vids here on the tube. There is a learning curve, but since your already a painter it will be easy.
Amazon has way better turbine spray guns, most come with removable 1-2.0 sized tips and lay down pretty good. I painted a car in color shift paint with a $20 gun off Amazon and it looks great.
Harbor Freight used to sell a turbine paint sprayer for $100. I wish I had gotten it before it was discontinued. I wanted to try it. Definitely better than the home sprayer. It would have to be

That is a smoking color man, for a beater car that thing turned out nice. I have an electrical spraygun from Adendorff and been using it for a while now, but never automotive, will try that next.
Yea exactly this is just a beater paint job. I was happy with it
Electric spray guns generally don't spray well using thin paint. They are meant to spray thicker paints and they will burn up using thin paint and sometimes even dry within itself clogging up the gun rendering it useless
Yup agree
Lol
Looks good💪🏽
Where you located?
Thanks, pa
Damn someone just gave the plain facts thank you bro
Absolutely
After this I’m opening my own painting business! Great work! Hey it’s not the best but it looks good! I’m SOLD! SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks a lot!
What size nozel you used?
The one that came with it can't remember size
Awesome job! 👍
What’s the name of the Grey again I’m going to do that on my 88 f700
Nardo gray
You can get a very good Fuji Turbine system for about the price of very good spray gun.Check out some of the vids here on the tube. There is a learning curve, but since your already a painter it will be easy.
You are a brave man spraying a metallic with a gun like that!
Yea first coat I was pulling my hair out 😂
What is the paint code?
Did it fail or did it clog?
Not 100% sure no time to diagnose it had to keep spraying
You should retry this with the new avanti hvlp from harbor freight
When I have another car to do this with sure
you got to be kidding me man! WOW! dude great job!
Hey I tried
I did the same with a car with enamel paint .the reason why you gun died you didn't clean it In between coats .
Oh ok I had no idea
Very nice, I thought you might have picked up a 2 nd cheap electric spray gun, but very nice
Man I was so frustrated I said screw it and just grabbed the spray gun 😂😂
Amazon has way better turbine spray guns, most come with removable 1-2.0 sized tips and lay down pretty good. I painted a car in color shift paint with a $20 gun off Amazon and it looks great.
Looked good after the base gray.
Electric tools from Harbor freight don't really last but if it's a name brand spray gun it would last you for ever.
Harbor Freight used to sell a turbine paint sprayer for $100. I wish I had gotten it before it was discontinued. I wanted to try it. Definitely better than the home sprayer. It would have to be
Amazon sells all kinds of electric turbine sprayers. They actually spray great.
You cheated, I wanted to see the top coat done with an electric sprayer.
Very good 👍😊 motivates me to go ahead paint 🎨 my truck for the first time time I'm excited I've been finishing my body work have a little more to go then it's ready to paint 🎨
Great!
every week. This was 2 sec short video :). Hey I was like, yeah, this could work. I was a bit angry for not go and buy another one to finish it. Good job!
Man a simple wet sand and buff would be a show car finish paint look very clean
Trueb
I used one of these electric sprayers to paint my bakflip tonneau cover and it worked great.
Are you James from DONUT?
No lol
That looks freaking awesome
Turned out amazing.
Thanks!
I see was pretty close with the synergy green guess. Didn’t know Chrysler had their version. If you go this color again, try putting down a silver ground first for fast coverage. The color looked good, and hey, @ least you tried. Next time try one from walmart😂
Boush made a spray Gun for wood and wall try That a have great result
Crikey what a difference to when you started you'd think it wasn.t the same car.
True !!
Didnt look like it had gobs of overspray either... like fogging up the whole block. Nice test..too bad it gummed up.
Yea i was bummed a little
Too bad it crapped out. Shoulda bought 2, I guess...but ya went ahead and finished it out and not too shabby
Yes! I'll be doing another video with a cheapo Chinese spray gun soon
