The last time you did a $100 single stage black paint job on a civic a few years back was what inspired me to try painting my car (with no prior painting experience). I did SMR 9705 on my 07 civic SI in September of 2022, and it still looks great to this day for the $250 in paint/spray gun/prep materials I put into it. 👍
@@johnnyjackson3850 I did my 1st paint job from watching Marco and went with the speedokote single stage nardo grey on my girlfriend's Honda accord. I primed and painted it and have moved on to doing some parts on my mustang with the single stage gloss black. Seems easier for me than base clear. I have a couple videos on my channel.
@@johnnyjackson3850 also the 1st try I just did the 4:1 paint and activator and had a lot of orange peel and runs then she wrecked the car so I had to repaint some parts. Marco recommended I do 4:1:1 adding some reducer. It made a huge difference. I have a short video of the fender and bumper I painted.
I think the highest percent of cars I've repainted were 08-15 Honda's and I appreciate the business. This video is full of great tips. Sanding, coverage, small parts first. What kind of cleaner did you use in the foam cannon?

A couple years back I hit a deer in my ‘11 Elantra. A very Reputable shop replaced the hood and it’s about 3/8” too long in the front, back is lined up perfectly, I notice it every time I walk by but the insurance paid for it. Point is aftermarket fitment is terrible and this car will likely be wrecked before the repair rusts back out.
Why don’t you use the blow up booth that you made that video on? The way you talked about it made it seem like you had Way way better/cleaner results than without it. Just wondering if it’s too much of a hassle or something.
I have a vehicle that has peeling clearcoat like this Honda, but there is no rust or broken panels. The color coat is there. I have the Speedokote Glamour clear, How would I go about cleaning up the fading clear and respraying clear? I assume you would sand down and smooth the edges of the fading clear with 2000 wet sand, then just spray over that.
You must rebase coat and clear coat. Good news is .... You can actually just buy our cheap generic jet black and make it happen! Sand down whole car with 320-600 grit . Clean very well Mask Shoot 2 med wet coats of jet black Shoot 2-4 coats of speedokote glamor clear coat Done
Just placed an order for the SMR 1150 fast kit and a couple other things I needed. At the price, I like to use it on my rust repair jobs where i'm just painting rockers cab corners, wheel arches primarily. Cheaper than the production clear and still dries pretty fast. Goes on smooth. No buffing. And I know it holds up because I did repairs on a Pontiac almost 4 years ago that sits outside its entire life. The 1150 is still holding up. With my prices being on the affordable side, I need to get the best value for the money. 1150 is only a little more than the Cheapest Ebay funky name clear. Oh, and I remembered to appoint u my sales rep 👍
In the event one did get crazy orange peel with the first coat of single stage, could you in theory lay down a light coat of a blending agent or reducer to melt it flatter, before preceding? I know, probably a dumb question . . . . . but 🤔
@@stevec5657 you could pile on 2 more wet coats without getting runs And then flat sand. The goal would be to use the additional layers to fill the "low " spots in the texture on your finish

It's very impressive. If you know how to prep and spray properly you can get a much better finish than a Honda/GM factory paint with this single stage.
I'm doing a 84 corvette Will a lvlp gun shoot your 2k primer filler ? I am going to order speedokote products I plan to shoot clear with mica pigment, over the black primer filler. Getting 2 gallons of the single stage black with slow activator, spraying in Chicagoland area and weather is about 70-90 degrees you think the slow activator should be good ? Also do you think I would need reducer ? If so which one would you suggest
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 Anything clear related, eurethane, high solid, soft clear etc, 30-35 psi wipe open fan and product will give you extremely well atomization, wich will result in a great finish, you need to go a little faster. Great for walking the car tbh give it a try, maybe a great video idea aswell !!
I usually run 28 psi at the gun for paint and up to 50 for clear depending on the project and solid content, temp. The gun didn’t blow up. Don’t be afraid to step outside the “normal” and try some wacky stuff. I watch one guy here on RUclips who uses flaming hot Doritos and spits an energy drink to prep his cars. 🤯
How long is that repair holding up in your area? When i do that kind of repair it macimum holding up for lime 2 years then the filler starts cracking. Im from europe so we have very very salty roads and the fucking salt is horrible. To get away a. Little longer i prefer putting some wax/fat based product behind the bodyfiller (from the inside of the panel) this way the bodyfiller needs more time to get wet and crack. Its not the right way but on a whole car with holes it takes like 30minutes fo 1h tobspotfat it. Lol i love your jobs. My customers allways prefert welded in panels (cause thats the only legal repair here) But i love bip bop jobs. Fuck them cars.

Just fixed that now I'm going to drive it around a little make sure it's good then we paint it! Once it's painted I don't see why it wouldn't sell for 2k.

If u think that paint is covering your wrong this is thin and no color if u use this do a black primer will not cover over any color unless u use a half gallon

Wasn't bondo. It was first sanded then had FIBERGLASS put over top. These repairs can last years and years and years. Were you expecting a barret Jackson style restoration on a 2012 Honda civic with 225k miles ???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Come on man

Our paints really do help the at home user achieve a good finish

Slow activator should be fine.
If it's 90 would recommend a splash of speedokote x slow reducer
You should try 30 to 40 psi, youd be very suprise with the result !

I loved the way you just filled the rust holes with fibreglass filler with no messing around just getting it done👌it reminds me of when I used to do similar work on my car but I had that special extra something, yup I used to put newspaper behind the bigger holes to make it easier to fill the gap😎🤠that single stage gloss covers really well and flows out to a great finish👏👏

Wasn't bondo. It was first sanded then had FIBERGLASS put over top. These repairs can last years and years and years.
