Same problem in my Accord EXL2013. Here is what I did to resolve the issue. I paid 90$ for complete diagnosis at a Honda Service Center. They found faulty starter. Total Quote was 600$ for starter+299$ for labor. Estimate was ~950$. I took the part number from them and ordered a brand new starter from Genuine honda parts that cost me 275$. Then for the installation, i went back to Honda service center. Installation cost was 200$ as they deducted the 90$ I paid for the diagnosis. So overall repair cost was around 575$ which was way better than paying 950$. The issue has been resolved and I have driven the car after repair for another 100 miles. No trouble starting at all. Honda has a faulty starters in 2013,2014,2015 series. They are fully aware of that but will never accept or recall. This will be my last Honda car. PS: Starters are not covered under powertrain warranty. Don't waste your time

Wow! 2014 Honda Accord. My 1997 Honda Accord EX is a turn key car. No problems with my Accord key cylinder after 20 years of ownership. I still have my original two dealership keys to my Accord and both still work. Also, I can't imagine spending $200+ on a faulty module. I paid $7 on a spare key at my local hardware store.

PUSH START IS A REAL CONVENIENCE THOUGH. USED TO PREFER KEY IGNITION BUT IT'S NOW SOMETHING THAT I'D PREFER IN A CAR.

Thank you, I completely agree. I HATE this stupid added feature which takes away from the vehicles reputation. I have been having so many problems trying to start the car and it will not start at all besides the battery and lights etc but engine does not. 5-10 years ago this problem could not have occurred and all Honda has done was create a problem that never existed for the wonderful idea of forcing your vehicle to be reliant on more electronics.

I had the same problem with my 2017 CRV and now my alarm is going off every 20 minutes. I took it to my dealership and they told me I got into an accident and that must have messed with the sensors on the tailgate. I think I'm going to show them this video. Just hope its still under warranty. The dealership claims this never happens to Hondas. Thanks for posting!
During the process of purchasing my 2017 Accord EX-L Coupe V6 manual at the dealer I asked what happens if the battery dies on the key fob suddenly leaving me stranded inside or outside the vehicle? The dealer told me to use the valet key that's hidden in the fob to unlock driver side and press the dead key fob directly flat on the red push button and the starter would recognize the chip even with a dead battery, as you demonstrated rather sloppily. Clearly the battery in the fob was not the problem as you were able to lock and unlock the doors. Nice on the second part of video on the tip for a much larger issue then a dead key fob battery.

Wow! Thank you so much for this video! We are 2 hours from home and this just happened. My husband and kids were sitting in the car watching a video while I was in a dentist appointment and the car just shut off (2016 Odyssey) and the green immobilizer Iight started flashing and the car was pretty much dead. your key fob battery is dying
@@almafranklyn6446 Lol, this was 4 years ago. The battery wasn’t dying in the key fob. It lasted 2 more years before it needed changed.

Does the tsb also apply to non keyless models, in having the same issue no crank no start, yet everything is recieving proper power and ground .

I had this same problem and ended up having to replace the starter. The car was just out of warranty. However, the 2014 V6 had a recall on the starter so I contacted Honda to voice my frustration and asked that they honor the recall. They did not give me my full amount that I paid for the repair, but I did get a good amount back. However, it was in the form of a Honda Gift Card which is a win-win for them.

The ring around the pushbutton is the antenna for the module. Touch the FOB to the ring push the button. Reset immobilizer to reset the fobs. no charge,
no tools. (HONDA IMMOBILIZER RESET.)
How long to hold the FOB at the ring of the starter

Simple fix for this problem is to press the button completely and spray a plastic safe electrical cleaning aerosol into the bottom edges.
Let the electrical cleaner set until it's completely dry.
Your switch will work as if it were brand new again.

I was thinking of installing a DC3 Controle module from compustar as my bypass immobilizer chip, since I was looking to install a Compustar remote start kit. How can i make this work with a DC3 Control module on my 2012 Honda Civic?

I am curious - this just started happening to us in a 2013 Accord EX but our VIN is not included in the TSB. Shall I still consider this as a solution? I took the switch apart (as seen in other videos...) to clean it, etc, but it didn't help.

Hi George, thanks for the video but you didn’t really accomplish what you initially told us what you where going to go which is show us how you program or re-program the keys with the launcher. That was what I was waiting for. Hopefully you put out a part 2 video showing us how you program the keys.

Hi George, hoping you can help with my Honda Accord 2013 remote control issue.
The remote control buttons that lock/ unlock and make the horn beep to locate the car, no longer work on both remotes. However the other function on the remote, keyless entry into the car, trunk and start the engine still work perfectly. we tried changing the battries but no luck. what may have triggered this issue, could be we touch something when we tried to install a dashcam but we took it out and traced back the path we touched and all looks good.
could it be a fuse ? could it be a untenna of some sort was unplugged/ disconnected ? could it be it needs to be re programed to the car ? would appreciate if you can please suggest anything ?

I have a 2013 Accord EX-L V6 and it’s doing this. The diagnostic at the dealership said it’s the keyless access module. My fob won’t unlock the doors and I have to hold it it the button to start like you. Dealership is charging over double what the part is worth. What software do you use for this?

Honda has admitted to numerous starter failures below 50k miles on the car and also has a recall for the stop/start engine switch in 2015 FITS. Comments on FitFreak forums also suggest brake sensor as a possible cause for the 2015 FIT.

Hello. I have a 2013 Honda Accord EX. It has the same problem!! I changed the battery, the starter, the alternator and even put in new spark plugs...but the problem still persists!! The stalling/not starting is very random. The most recent incident happens this past weekend when I stopped to pump gas at a local Sam's Club. After finished pumping the gas, the vehicle wouldn't start, and stall there at the pump for a long time until I got help to push it to a parking space so people behind me to pump their gas. After 30 minutes of inactivity, I pressed the start button, and it turned on as normal, and I was able to drive home. What's wrong with this model and year??? Is it a keyless access control unit and software issue??? HELP!!!
After replacing my battery the radio and info display had no power. Key fob would start enging only if holding fob to button. I have a CR-V 2015. In my case it was a bad 10 amp fuse labeled Back Up - in the fuse block under the hood, bad.

Try change the remote key battery first before try this. I had the exact symptom, but simply caused by low key battery. After changing the battery, it worked perfectly

I bought a Honda because they last forever. I’m super disappointed.
They have likely lost my business forever after this car.
I still have this issue even after getting a new battery.
Replaced both remote batteries already. Took it to to battery plus for diagnostics, at first they said the car battery was good. The dealer said it was bad battery. Can't believe 40k in and the car battery is depleted already, we're not running TVs or appliances so why so soon? Toyota Prius or highlander is the best.
On my 2013 Accord the engine does not always start. When it does not start I continue to hold the brake pedal down then push and HOLD the START/STOP button and it will start. This indicates that there is a possible problem with either the push button switch or the brake switch.

Dro Rios .... tried to get someone that will help you get a starter from a parts supply house because you can save a lot of money that way because AutoZone and Pep Boys and all these other places will rob you blind on a starter. Pep Boys wanted to charge me $295 for a starter and I talk to someone at a shop and asked them if they could get me a starter and I ended up paying 169 for it. Hope this helps and corrects your problem also.

My problem was that my 2015 Honda Accord EXL engine start button would not start at the first try, only on the second or third try. After seeing several videos on RUclips it dawned on me that my remote battery could be going dead, and it was. So I took my brand new spare remote key and as soon as I opened the car door I heard a louder beep inside my car and sure enough it started on the first try, and started again on the first try. The problem was the low battery on the remote key and the vehicle could not read the transmitting strong signal to start the car. So there you have it guys don't get suckered by a possible dis-honest dealership serviceman or shady mechanic, just buy the battery yourself and watch a video on RUclips to know how to change it.

My car has the similar issue and after watching the video I was actually able to turn my car on in a similar way as yours. Now the problem with my car is that my car doesn’t even lock and unlock using the remote. Also, if the module and doesn’t detect your key then your car shouldn’t start in the first place, right ?

So the fix is to replace the control module and reprogram all the fobs. Could have gotten to the point earlier.

My Odyssey has done this once. Eventually it may do it again. It’s not repeatable at all. Was this Accord behaving this way consistently? I didn’t really hear you say that.

On my 2015 Accord Ex, the dashboard lights and the headlights come on but there is no cranking to start the engine. My car has s 2.4 Liter 4-cylinder engine with Manual Transmission. The battery seems fine (14.46 Volts) when the engine is running and 10.48 volts when the engine is off. It happens randomly and there is nothing I can do except keep trying and trying until the car starts. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. The dashboard shows a yellow light next to the RPM gauge saying "STARTER SYSTEM". Any ideas, please? Thank you.

I doubt you had an issue like this your issue was your ignition was turning on and your car just wasn't starting that's if you had a starter problem which has nothing to do with the ignition turning on or the security of the key come on man this comment is f****** dumb

To much 💰, ask around take it to a reliable mechanic. Take it to someone that specializes in starters.

Hey George! great series of videos and information, I have a question after the purchase of the i-diag and downloading the initial software to a smartphone is there additional software to purchase to be able to perform the key and module programming.
+charles wilson you have to buy either a package or individual make whichever way you want. I personally by each individual make because I don't use a lot of those they sell in the package

my mechanic friend fixed his daughter's Mercedes car push button start failed after 4 years, he replaced the module above the brake pedal.
That's why I heat push button start cars love cars with keys never let you down.
If the key gets stuck you can still start the car not like push button start you get stick on side of road lmao.

Yea a push start system is nice and all but it doesnt beat a key with a chip. I recently saw a video on how to steal cars and push starts are 10x easier then a chip key

I have 2014 Accord Touring edition and fob on driver 2 doesn't unlock or lock and I gotta hold it up to ignition like you except it starts right away. I dropped it in water I think or snow but it's like 300 bucks so I said why bother. I hate this push button shit.
I'm having this same problem, but if I put the car in neutral and back into park at the right moment I can get it to start. This is the most anxiety inducing thing ever especially when I have to be to work and I have no idea how long it will take me each day to start my car and I just fucking bought it
Push the start button with the key fob.
What if there is no red light flashing and no light in power, really no power. What is supposed to be the problem? Can u help me? Thank u very much
